Great course, pretentious, snobby staff. I play golf at quite a few other courses in the area. I wear a tank top, it's freaking hot.........not here, these pretentious, self righteous smug jerks think it's unacceptable for a man to wear a tank top.........all while their cart girls are scantily clad in tank tops themselves....just seems a weird scam to get you to buy one of their shirts and a reason I won't be returning to play there. Will never understand the desire of a public course to turn away dollars based on some nonexistent code of dress. If you are going to be that way, post it on the website when I make my tee time..........not wait til I drive there to act like that. Highly disappointed in this place and was super looking foward to my first time. read more

Played on Wed 7/30/2025. We've played the course annually for about 20 years now. This year, lack of course maintenance really showed. Bunkers were lacking enough sand, and #7 green burned up due to lack of functioning fans. An old favorite that needs a bit of a wake up call. read more

This course is in great shape! Love the layout and how the courses challenges you. The only complaint i have is how they can charge $8 for a Hotdog! It's insane considering a 8 pack cost $6 at the store. I like tipping but when products are way over priced, i never tip! You are stealing tips away from your employees and i imagine I'm not the only one like this. read more

There's a bad trend that's been Developing here in the past 2 years. SLOW PACE OF PLAY!!! My last 2 times coming here they allowed a 6 some play ahead of me, and the next time they put somebody who miss there tee time ahead of us. ( he must of been a member). read more

Hands down one of my FAVORITE courses. I split my time between Dallas and Scott AFB and it was so great finding a Nicklaus design so close to home. Just about every hole is exciting and a few area thrill ride. The greens give you a taste of what's it's like for the guys in tour, and you need to place those approaches in the right spots to keep those strokes down. The club house is nice and the staff that I've encountered have all been very nice. I always look forward to a round here! read more

A great course to play. There are lots of bunkers. It can easily be a day at the beach. With that being said, I think it's more of a hitter's course than power driving course. I play this course all the time with my dad and we love it. Yesterday I left my range finder in the cart and i called the pro shop to let them know and Cam went to the cart shed himself and found my range finder and then called me back to let me know. We we went back to the pro shop and he was so nice and polite about the situation. Stone Wolf has always been class. All their employees but especially Cam. read more

Played here last week and the tee boxes and fairways are in excellent shape. However, many of the greens are in really bad shape and I can only assume that many of the water hazards on the course are used as dumping areas for septic tanks. (Seriously, one lake was so gross and foul smelling that I didn't even bother getting my ball near the bank for fear that I might touch anything wet near the lake.) Other than that, the pace of play was fast and the layout was pretty solid. However, this course has fallen off dramatically from its Jack Nicklaus-designed aspirations. In fact, I suspect that several of the lakes on the course are filled with the dead bodies of individuals who threatened to inform Mr. Nicklaus of the course's current condition. read more

I love to play Stone Wolf, it's a gorgeous and challenging course. You definitely want your "A" game here. I'd play it a whole lot more if it were closer and highly recommend it to anyone who hasn't played it before. read more

I had a lot of expectation for this course and was disappointed...I like most of Jack Nicklaus's courses but this one is a fail for me. Layout is poor on several holes and almost forced. And this is a comment coming golfer who loves target-style golfer courses and Pete Dye layouts. There are several holes that punish golfers for the great shot so be careful on your shot selection. read more

Had business in St. Louis Friday before Labor day and was intrigued by the idea of playing a Nicklaus course. Great layout, horrible condition. 16 of the greens where in really bad shape, sand traps mediocre at best. Staff was great, very cool course but was really disappointed by the condition. Also, maybe I misread but I thought a review mentioned GPS maps on the carts, which did not exist. Gas powered carts. It was sad to see such a great layout in such poor condition. I should have looked more carefully at the dates on the reviews. read more

Played 2 days in row with my son-in-law and we really enjoyed it. Course is in outstanding condition. Make sure you use a GPS app or handheld for the course as many holes require a different shot instead of driver every hole. Green are really in perfect shape and hold approaches beautifully. read more

I like the course but have had two bad experiences this year with extremely slow play (5.5 hours +) and these were not tournaments. The pro shop did not seem to care either time. If the seem to improve the overall speed of play, I would enjoy this course more. read more

We were going to have our wedding reception here , but they fired their whole wedding staff and put the golf pro in charge to be the wedding coordinator...FAIL... We decided to not have our reception here when he told us no tastings and golfers were free to roam about during our reception and may eat our food and drink our drinks. "It's a golf course".
