Hard to find a restaurant still open late but Indian Temptations saved the night. What a true hidden gem inside the back of a market. While the neighboring stores are pitch black, the light inside the sliding doors inside a market remains lit til after midnight. I gotta admit the decor and ambience could be improved, but if I were to judge the food alone, it's delicious. The BUTTER CHICKEN was buttery good and the naan was cooked chewy but crispy. I tried their MANGO LASSI and SWEET LASSI which tasted like their version of a yogurt drink. I prefer the mango--it's a great pairing with their food. read more

There's an old saying that goes something like "when in Rome, do as the Romans do". When it comes to Indian - eat where the Indians eat! Indian temptations doesn't make any reservations as to what it is - they are an Indian takeaway joint on main north rd. they aren't glamorous, they won't attract the high end clientele - that's why I love these guys! My housemate and I had a hankering for Indian last night, he had let me on his little secret recently - so I obliged and away we went. Indian Temptations is a tiny little hole in a wall with bright orange walls, the kitchen taking up half the space and Indian tv blaring in the background. The cheerful old owner runs around and makes sure everyone is enjoying their meal. The ladies who take orders and serve don't speak or understand English very well so you must write it down for them which I found novel. I chose two entrees vegetable pakora and chicken tikka, tandoor style. Both were served in generous portions with tasty dipping sauces and at very reasonable prices, a delicious mango lassee kept the heat down and was as thick as a maccas thickshake! My friend ordered the spinach paneer, with rice, roti and a serving of pakora - both meals were fantastically generous and just under or around the $20 mark. A fantastic, tasty meal with a wonderful smile, thank you and a complimentary mouthful of aniseed and sugar mouth freshener and we were on our away! Currryyyyy!! Well, I have been meaning to check out this this place for a very long time. But, it is a little out of my way, so I have waited till I was in the area. This Indian Restaurant is on the Northern side of Adelaide just off North East Road. Very easy to find with massive signage and plently of options to park as it is in the burbs. I can see that a lot of people meet their mates here, so good stop for groups. Only thing is that they do not book tables. So it is kind of first in best dressed. Alternatively you can grab takeaway. This is not a flash restaurant at all. Don't expect too much when you come here. Particularly the facilities are not very nice at all. But, if you can look past all of that, this it's worth giving them a go. Because the food is pretty good. If you get a chance, park around the back of the restaurant. You will see the tandoor oven and chef prepping chicken tikka on skewers. Looks pretty amazing and you can definitely tell that is one of their biggest selling items. It's a very casual dining experience here. Weird here that you actually write out your own order here and hand it to the waitress. But that is all fine. I just made sure that I wrote neatly. Hehe We ordered the Palak Paneer, Chicken Tikka & Lamb Rogan Josh. All had a really thick sauce. Which is not something that I am used too. But, it was really full of flavour. You can tell that they use the tandoor oven as there is a slight smoky flavour through the Chicken Tikka. The sauce served with the Chicken Tikka was maybe slightly too strong. The Palak Paneer was great and probably my favourite out of the dishes I tried. Really creamy spinach. There was lots of cubed paneer as well. Yumm! The Rogan Josh was ok, but maybe could have done with a little extra salt. Oh and finally, the naan here is really really big and cooked very well! Seems they don't do the "whitey version: cheese naan". Only garlic and plain naan. For this end of town, I know it's hard to find good food. Hands down the best Indian restaurant I've ever been to, and here's why: pure authenticity. Indian temptations is hard to miss with their large organise sign out the front. Though their restaurant is quite small with limited seating so there may be a wait on busy nights. They're open to the early hours of the morning however, so it's a great place for a midnight meal. On to the food. Amazing authentic Indian cuisine is what you will get at Indian temptations. All the food are prepared fresh for you. Each curry is packed full of an array of flavours that I cannot begin to describe. We ordered 5 curries, 1 of each type of meats (beef, chicken, lamb, goat and seafood). Each one were amazing in their own right. The naan bread that was ordered were cooked really well with the outside crispy and the inside soft and fluffy. Amazing experience all around. Huge value of money. There's nothing I can fault here. I would definitely be back again! read more

Wow! This place was a surprise! Found myself in the middle of nowhere region of middle of nowhere Adelaide and came across this awesome Indian eatery. It's a mom & pop operation for sure. When you order the lady behind the counter just turns around and grabs a pan, and you feel a little like you just asked your Indian mom to make you some lunch. I tried the matter paneer (9.50) and garlic naan (3.50) and it was all very good (more of a spicy than sweet dish). Naan could have been more garlicky, but it was fluffy, huge, and delicious. Atmosphere isnt anything to speak of, so if you need that order takeaway - it looks like they even have online ordering. **Don't use their bathroom though. It's outback, in the 18th century. Went back to Indian Temptations this evening. I had the rice ready at home; all I wanted was the curry. Dammit! I forgot this restaurant's extremely annoying policy of only taking plastic for orders over $20. My mixed vego curry was less than half that, so I headed off to find an ATM. It was quite a walk to where I had parked, and it was nearly 20 minutes by the time I returned. There wasn't a park to be had within 100 metres of the place. I'm afraid I just thought stuff them. Like all good eating places in Adelaide, if you didn't know it was there or if no one told you how good it was, you'd probably never go here. Indian Temptations for me is by far the only Indian restaurant that I will keep going back to in Adelaide and here is why. They serve very authentic food and they aren't ridiculously overpriced. While their establishment isn't super polished with wine glasses on the tables like many other indian restaurants around town, what they make up for in lack of flash is the deliciousness of their food and the feeling that you aren't burning a hole in your pocket at the same time. I like the fact that their food is not watered down. When I get a spinach paneer, it's creamy and sticks to my spoon. When I order butter chicken, there is actually more chicken than sauce in my dish. This makes me very happy. So far I've never eaten here and felt disappointed yet. If you're after something sweet, try out their sweet mango lassi, which is sort of like a thick mango yoghurt drink if you don't know what a lassi is. It's a bit too sweet for me normally, but when you're craving sugar, that is definitely the way to go. Because their isn't much seating inside, we will normally order take away. Try to imagine an evening of great indian food, sitting at home with friends and watching a good movie or just chatting. It's really simple, but that's the way I like it. You don't need lots of flash to have a great evening. All you need is good company and good food and in that department, Indian Temptations delivers. Parking can be found just behind the restaurant if you turn onto the road on the left just after the restaurant heading north up Main North Road. Their parking lot is not huge so you might have to park on the road. Another tip if you're planning only on take away, give them a call before hand and order what you'd like to eat. It's one of those rare 5 star reviews for me! This place has the best butter chicken I have eaten, and I eat a LOT of butter chicken, we usually order take-away so I haven't actually sat to dine in the store myself. The opening hours are fantastic, from 11am - 2am you can satisfy your Indian cravings, I have never gone past the place and seen it empty. The value for what you get is great. The chicken is fresh and moist and the rice is never over cooked. There is not a lot you can say when it comes to ordering take-away from a place, but not a lot needs to be said. I tried this place based on all the great reviews on a lazy Friday night... The place does look dodgy from the outside and is tucked away in a small group of shops on Main North Road, but boy was it busy with a line out the door just to order! And it's easy to see why- the food is delicious, generous portion sizes and very well priced. Winner winner chicken dinner! The samosas are HUGE with two per serve. The meat in all of the dishes we ordered are so tender and juicy. My recommendation is their butter chicken, which is usually my go to food when having Indian as I'm not one for spicy and it can be bland, but boy did this place offer an exceptional meal! The best sign of an authentic Indian restaurant is when you walk into the place and it's full of Indian diners. With that being said, it's not unusual to walk into Indian Temptations and find yourself the only anglo saxon in the place. Being that it's open so late it's the perfect place if you're craving a late night curry. My personal favourite is the beef korma. The sauces are so thick and full and the meat nice and chunky. I live closer to other Indian restaurants, but if I feel like a good meal I'll bypass them and keep going down the road and stop right here. Indian Temptations used to be the sole Indian restaurant along this strip. Sadly this has changed with 2 new restaurants entering the area right next door. The cheek of it!! Even with these 2 new arrivals in the area however, it's not uncommon for Indian Temptations to have a line of takeout customers so long that it leads outside the door. I've never dined in myself. The restaurant itself looks like it's falling apart with it being painted a bit of a horrible yellow and cracks in the walls, but the proof of a good restaurant is in the food and Indian Temptations does not disappoint. With the recent spate of new restaurants Indian Temptations has been forced to add one of the things it spent years avoiding: EFTPOS. This place has got to be the holy grail of Indian food. So unsuspecting and humbly looking like an ordinary takeaway joint, it produces some of the tastiest authentic Indian food I've ever had. The few times I've been there, there's always been a line mostly for takeaway. They do have seating for dining in but are quite limited. A few standouts that I think are must tries are their Samosa Chaat. Imagine two prehistoric size samosas covered in chickpeas, tangy chat sauce, yoghurt, diced onions and chutneys. It is an amazing explosion of flavours. Not to mention it's very filling. My other favourite from them is their Chicken Biryani which is done so well. All the flavours are absorbed into the rice it's just super delicious. Another of our favourite is their tandoori chicken drumsticks. Cooked all the way through yet not dry on the outside. The flavours seep it and the chicken remains juicy and tender. Their beef madras is pretty good too. In short, I have never had a bad dish from them. Have come here several times and have not been disappointed. This hole-in-the-wall kind of place has great food, a good number of options if you want to try something new, or find new dishes to love. Mind blastingly good. Anything can blow your mind. The food here is so good, it blasts it. (Russel Peter's, anyone?) What can I say about the food... I've been to the high profile Indian venues such as Beyond India, Charminar, Arya, Jasmin etc.. and the food is simply bland in comparison. While they are more appropriate for a special occasion, I find myself making comparisons to this venue and am very disappointed since I am paying more for a inferior meal. Without a doubt, the naan bread is so far above what all other venues serve, they need to be taking lessons from these guys. I was almost going to tell Charminar about how bad their naan was, and tell them to go try Indian Temptations to gain inspiration for improvement. My favourite dishes are Vindaloo (Chicken or beef- does vary a bit in spice level but even when its mild or extremely hot I always enjoy), Channa Masala, the eggplant dish (forgot the name), and of course the Naan. After hearing from a friend that this was THE place to order Indian food from, I was both curious and keen and once my curiosity was satisfied I was then keen to head back - time and time again! We ordered via the website and the total was very cheap - 1 x butter chicken, 1 x lamb korma, 1 x malia kofta, 3 x garlic naan, 1 x rice for less than $50! and when we arrived I was glad we per-ordered; the street was bustling in this suburban area and all with people trying to get some Indian food in their bellies! We battled the crowd to collect our order which was all ready to go and my god did it smell amazing! The taste though was the best - the butter chicken was delicious, one of the best I have ever had but the real genuine highlight and the reason that I will be returning was the malia kofta. This isn't something that I'd had before but it was recommended by a friend and oh my gosh please do try it. Just writing this is making me drool, all over my keyboard. Yum. read more

The staff are more then happy to offer you whatever you require when ever you need it, ordering is done by writing your own order on paper and placing it in with the kitchen staff! Original but brilliant in that you get exactly what you want with no confusion! The byriani was by far one of the best on offer in Adelaide accompanied by a delicious Riata (yoghurt and cucumber). Beef madras is a must with the beef slow cooked to perfection and the sauce a perfect blend of spices. It doesn't end there the gulab jarmon made to order that is amazing! The best I have ever eaten! Partner and I love eating here. It is one of the best Indian places to eat in Adelaide. Our favourite is their sambal prawn curry! It's seriously the best with garlic naan. Had heard a lot about the tasty food of Indian Temptations but was a bit disappointed with the customer service as well as the food. Had ordered Samosa chaat amd Chicken tikka. The tamarind and mint sauce in samosa chaat was but bland and not at all tangy or minty!! Chicken tikka looked beautiful but when tasted chicken was undercooked and lacked flavours. When told the staff at counter that chicken was under cooked , they replied that our chef is well trained cannot make silly mistakes!! Was taken aback by the response. Will never go back.. read more

If you are after a great value for money Indian food you can't go pass this. Fantastic flavours, authentic, great portion sizes for a true eater! I love samosa chaat and chicken tikka. If you are a fine diner then don't come here as you have to write your own order in a piece of paper and hand over to someone who is on the counter. Also not necessarily clean and tidy place.
