By now, probably every Yelper in Indy knows about my recent hospitalization and amputation of my…read moreleft leg above the knee. I continue to be at home healing and building strength, though I'm largely moving toward becoming more independent and hopefully returning to work in the not so distant future. One aspect of life that will need to change is the need for a different wheelchair given my change in physical status. Thus, because I have commercial insurance quite a bit of red tape is required. This includes both a tech evaluation and a full mobility evaluation by a physical therapist. At the recommendation of my DME vendor, I scheduled an appointment with Community Health Network's Physical Therapy & Rehab - Neuro Specialty precisely because they were both close and could get me in fairly quickly. They are located in the Community Health Pavilion at Fort Ben and are almost directly across from both Fort Ben and Culver's. They stumbled into a bit of a mess today and handled it quite nicely. I received a call from the DME vendor about an hour before my appointment stating that it would need to be canceled and rescheduled for 1/30/20. Since this is such an important part of me getting back to work, the prospect of a two-week delay had me pretty agitated. I started making some calls and decided to show up for my appointment that had been canceled. I wasn't in a good mood when I arrived, but I was also determined to either get it all straightened out and maintain the appointment or get an appointment sooner than 1/30. The pavilion is wheelchair friendly - they have multiple accessible parking spots and a front-entrance canopy for safe drop-off. Both glass doorways at the entry have push-button power access. This particular office is directly on the right when you enter. The person working the desk appeared to have stepped away. The operator greeted me briefly, though seemed a bit confused as I was not in their system for having an appointment. I explained the situation. I knew that the DME vendor rep had an appointment at the same office immediately prior to mine. I'd hoped I'd caught him prior to my appointment but would learn he'd left. I was impressed with the front office staff here. I was frustrated, but they kept an even tone about themselves and simply did what they were able to do. They were firm about not being able to have an appointment without the referral, but also shifted focus when it became clear I was determined to get them the referral and maintain the appointment. After multiple phone calls, I had all the pieces in place and the DME vendor agreed to return. The evaluation occurred as scheduled - Cara, the physical therapist, was a delight. She was personable, thorough, professional, and remarkably upbeat. She switched gears and I appreciated her willingness to go through with it. I loved her philosophies - she even gave me an explanation of using the phrase "differently abled" that I really respected. She set a great tone and did a great job. She assured me that given the time sensitivity she would get the evaluation done as quickly as possible but with all the needed information. This could have been a difficult experience, but with a top notch front office staff and a wonderful therapist, this ended up being a really positive experience. Cara also gave me a flyer for an amputee support group - and was also mentoring a student. I really was impressed and would easily return.

I was sent here for my back rehab twice now. The first time after my initial disc rupture and then…read morethe second tine after I ruptured it again and had to have surgery. Both times were amazing! These folks really know their stuff and are super friendly to boot! The ladies at the counter always greeted me warmly and with smiles and so did all the rest of the staff. I worked with 2 specialists and both were great at getting me back to moving around again, you can't go wrong with Ryan and Beth! But, really from what i experienced and saw all of the staff took great pride in their work and cared for their clients. And that makes all the difference, you can tell they care.

I'm adding another review because all they did was push medicine on people with no doctors…read moresupervision. They kept people so high on soboxen it wasn't even funny. No fresh towels, the bed spreads look like they came from salvation army wash rags that you could see through. And no one recognizes you until you want to leave because of insurance oh and the recycle razors. Gave me a razor with someone else's hair in it. I'm just telling the truth. Go across the street to Fairbanks. Oh I will post more until they pay me off. Worst rehab ever, it's good if you're homeless but if you have insurance stay AWAY

Today I had a procedure with Dr. Klim to help with some debilitating pain in my hip. I was super…read moreapprehensive, my anxiety level was a 10/10! Dr. Klim was very patient and saw to it that I was made completely comfortable before, during and after the procedure. Dr. Klim explained that there may be some pressure and a pinch as he introduced the needles and injected the medication. I honestly didn't feel a thing! Dr. Klim spoke very calmly. He and his assistant, Tracy (sp) monitored my blood pressure and oxygen levels. When Dr. Klim saw that my BP was getting low, he assured me that he had a plan of action in place to ensure that it would not stay low. The procedure was done before I knew it! Dr. Klim did not rush me once the procedure was completed. He gave me time to get my bearings together and even took the time to walk with me to the waiting area where my mom was waiting. I just want to say that I have had spinal procedures/epidurals in the past. None of them went well, and therefore, my fear nearly had me cancel my appointment today. Dr. Klim truly changed my perspective. Thank you Dr. Klim for your support, level of expertise and kindness. My experience was top tier! I'd also like to thank Tracy for assisting. She was informative and answered my questions prior to my procedure without hesitation!

Knock on wood, I have only been a visitor to Forte, and not a patient. But I've known three people…read morewho have been patients at Forte, and all of them have had great experiences here. These patients sing praises about Forte, from the doctors to the nurses to the efficient people at the front desk. From a visitor's point of view, Forte is great. They are very straightforward with their instructions, which I appreciate. Just tell me what to do and what to expect, and I'll do it and expect it. Everything went pretty much according to what they said. They have a smoothly running system here. Visitors can help themselves to the unlimited coffee and water at the coffee and water station. This is where the Little Free Library is located! The waiting room also has multiple seating arrangements, from high-top desks to comfy chairs to love seats. Or, if you need something to eat or drink, there's a cafe on the first floor. (See my separate review for La Verna Cafe.) The waiting room is airy and bright. One thing that's kinda weird is that a "cruise director" comes and talks about what to expect with your surgery ... right in the waiting room, among all those random people. That seems unusual, right? However, there are private rooms that you're taken to when the time comes to talk about your particular case with the doctor. As a visitor who is not a patient, Forte is great. But I've been told that it's also great being a patient here, so there's that.

I was check in in a matter of minutes and taken back to the consultation room by Emily. She explained how the process worked and what to expect and also made recommendations based on the health questionnaire that is filled out in advance. We went with the Meyer Cocktail it contains vitamins B/C/D and magnesium. She's a great sticker, too...I have terrible veins...lol. During the procedure my procedure I was in the most amazing massage chair ever! It actually massages every part of your body and gently rocks back and forth...it was so relaxing. The whole process took about 1.5 hours. Emily even wrote me a summary of my visit and what she recommends next visit and told me to enjoy my upcoming trip. I'm already looking forward to my next visit.

I went to Prime IV as a first timer last week. I was feeling very drained after a rough couple…read moreweeks and thought a B12 drip or something similar could help. I was greeted very warmly when I got there and a nurse immediately took me back to ask a few questions. After I told her some of the things I was experiencing she recommended the Immunity Boost combo for me. The treatment itself was very relaxing. I loved the massage chairs and the way it scans you to fit your body precisely for the most comfortable massage. The only problem I had was that I didn't know to bring my sleep mask - I probably would've paid for an additional drip just to keep laying there if I had. At first I didn't feel the effects but later that evening I noticed a definite energy boost. I was also pleasantly surprised that I was feeling less pain in my shoulder. I've got a pretty bad case bursitis from an old volleyball injury but the drip ended up helping tremendously with the inflammation from that as well. I initially chose to visit to because I saw an advertisement for a $85 drip for first time patients. Be advised that this is only if you opt in to their 6 month agreement for treatments.
