Being an American I've heard plenty about how South Asian cuisine is better across the pond. Being…read morea fan of Asian food in general I was determined to try Indian cuisine at least once during my trip. Considering how expensive it is to eat in Dublin and considering how close this was to my hotel I had this twice and was impressed with my food both times! The restaurant space is quite small to eat in and most of their orders are for takeaway. The plastic containers used for takeaway is quite sturdy and I'd be reusing them again if I was a local. Service was great. They threw in a single piece of veggie samosa for good measure as a typical order comes in a set of 3. They even put in a little chutney sauce for dipping. There's plenty of potato and some peas in the samosa. I ordered one chicken and one lamb dish. I love spicy curries so I ordered the curries that come naturally spicy. The curries are made to order so expect at least a 10 minute wait while they cook your dish. - Chicken Madras (Curry from southern coast of India cooked with fresh coconut and curry leaves, €10.50). Madras is a British interpretation of curry found in South India. It is red due to the chili powder and there's usually a "milk" base to it, similar to Thai curries. The chicken pieces are big and there's plenty of curry left over to finish the rice. - Lamb Jalfrezi (Stir-fried lamb with onions, peppers and tomato flavoured with carom seeds, Stir-fried lamb with onions peppers and tomato flavoured with carom seeds, €11.50). Jalfrezi is Indian-Chinese made spicy because the meat is cooked usually with green peppers and onions. This dish was properly spicy and there's a good amount of lamb meat. There was enough curry left over to finish the rice. This was made by the suggestion of a local who overheard me asking for a recommendation for preferred lamb curries as I had chicken. This is reasonably priced comfort food considering how expensive it can be to eat out in Dublin. If this were in the US this would easily be my go-to place for Indian food to go.

Do Not Underestimate Their Vindaloo #HOTHOT…read more This place over the years have changed their name a few times but what hasn't changed is the awesome deliciousness of their food. I've sampled plenty of the starter dishes and for mains have tried quite a few options over from the beef or chicken jalrezi, tikka masala, korma oh and let's not forge their vindaloo (buyer's beware it is as hot as they come), all dishes have been amazing. My fave, go to main meal is now the chicken tikka masala has enough of everything, packed with flavour and doesn't make me cry like the vindaloo! Also, little tip for you... order the garlic Naan! It's worth the buck and then some. I've often ordered from them when having guests over so whether it be a small order for 2 or larger group they've got you covered. The delivery service is always prompt, never had any issues here and the once time they had a long delivery timeframe they made it know over the phone when I placed the order to make sure I was ok with the wait... More take away/delivery places should take note, if ye know ye are up against it, let us know when ordering... Saves an angry call 60 mins later :-) If you are in the area or live nearby and have not tried their food... Do! You won't regret it

Everything we tried was super tasty, the spices were balanced, the presentation was great, and not too spicy for our pallet. Chicken Biryani rice (€29.9), with a bready top that was taken off by the server, side of yogurt, side of masala sauce. Super tasty dish 10/10. Potato cake appetizer (€13.5), super tasty, it was topped with complementary sauces, well balanced between savory, sour, and tart. Excellent appetizer. Puri Chaat? (€15), They didn't list it on the menu, I asked for it and the chef was nice enough to create it for me. Super tasty and not too spicy We also go the slow cooked Wicklow lamb to go (€28.5), the meat was super tender, the flavors were excellent, some of the best Indian flavored lambs I've ever tried. The price for two people without drinks is (€104.65), which is on the pricy side, but the flavors and experience was worth it. All in all, I tried this place about 6 years ago and it was great and I tried it again and they still kept their high quality tasty food. Definitely recommend

I visited their Camden St. location which is an area of Dublin that's buzzing with restaurants. Other more highly rated Indian restaurants (which were also more expensive) were all booked up, and I'm glad they were, since Diwali was right up our alley for tastes as they provided delicious food and excellent service. The music was great, and decor just right for ambiance. Meals start off with complimentary papadum and various chutneys, which is always appreciated. For drinks, we got the mango lassi and Cobra beer. The mango lassi had the perfect yogurt and mango accents without being too sweet, and was better than even the highly rated restaurants we went to in London. The Cobra beer was decent with regards to flavor. We tried the onion bhaji and chicken pakora to start off. The onion bhaji was a little bit oily, but great in taste and presentation, leaving us wondering how it was made as it was a pull apart variety while still preserving the chickpea batter accent with each bite. The chicken pakoras were also good, with a batter spiced just right. For main course, we ordered the butter chicken along with pulau rice and a naan. Nothing groundbreaking with regards to recipe, but just fresh and delicious food for these items. The pulau rice was better than plain basmati rice, and naan was a thin, but very generous portion. The food was so good that we returned a second night after being indecisive on where to go for dinner. The manager noticed us and provided us with mango lassi and a sampling of an aloo dish on the house, thanking us for being repeat guests. I love it when management shows such a genuine appreciation for customers like that. Service was attentive and on top of their game throughout both our visits. I'd recommend a visit to the Camden Street location of Diwali Indian Restaurant when in the mood for delicious Indian food when in Dublin.
