The thing with second hand bookstores, they can either be in a state of complete chaos, where the book title you're looking for *may* be there but because nothing is organized, you may miss it altogether OR the bookstore can be so meticulously and methodically well-organized that you end up walking out with some book titles you weren't even looking for in the first place. This is what happened to me at Beazley Books located in the quaint and picturesque Pointe-Claire village. The owner was also very nice and seemed to know quite a bit about the writers I picked up. Yeah, I know it's the West Island, but the distance is a lot longer in your head than it really is. I actually timed myself and found that I was there in 30 minutes flat from Lionel Groulx metro on the weekend. It's definitely worth a visit. While you're here you can browse the other many cute little shops, and grab some lunch at the local cafe

Il fonda également le Club du livre du Quartier Latin (premier club du livre au Québec!) ainsi que les Éditions du Quartier Latin. Il se joint ensuite à la chaîne de librairies Dussault-Garneau, à titre de gérant général de l'ensemble des succursales. Gaston Poulin a acquis la Librairie Carcajou de Place Rosemère en 1984. Il en est devenu le troisième propriétaire. Pionnier dans le monde du livre au Québec, il y a oeuvré toute sa vie, soit plus de 60 ans. Se sont joint progressivement à lui plusieurs de ses enfants et petits-enfants. En 1999, une deuxième succursale voit le jour au Centre Duvernay de Laval. Below, a taste: *door transformed into mail sorting artwork *hooks and drawer pulls, a plenty *bright - but not overly modern bright - coloured throw pillows *kitchen gadgets *glass decanters for the mid century fiends *table lamp with a bird on a branch as the stand *table linens in subdued patterns Downside - finding out it's mostly made in China stuff. But, then again, it also is reasonably priced, which makes it a better version of Anthropologie in my books.
