We were wondering what to do on our second night and saw an ad for PEI Roti and thought we'd try it, We were very glad we did! It was worth the visit just for the meeting the very friendly, nice couple running the place but the food was terrific too. We owners took time to describe the different menu items, even letting us sample 2 different chicken dishes. We ended up with the jerk chicken, chana aloo (potato's and chick peas) and a bag of freshly made roti, all as takeout. Everything was absolutely delicious. The potatoes were perfectly cooked and seasoned, the chicken was great and the roti was fresh and wonderful. The portions were very generous. We'd really recommend this small, casual place.

I was able to taste my wife's butter chicken, and it honestly tasted like glorified tomato soup. The creamy, 'butter' part of 'butter chicken' was nowhere to be found. I ordered the chicken vindaloo: normally, vindaloo is a spicy and very tasty dish. In this case, I could feel the pleasant spicy sensation in my mouth, but the vindaloo tasted like, well, absolutely nothing. It was the most bizarre thing: a complete lack of any distinguishing flavors or taste. Such a disappointment. Also, the containers holding our butter chicken and vindaloo were both relatively empty of any real meat: it was 80 percent sauce. On the plus side, the rice and naan bread was good, but the rest of the meal was a disappointment.

Our server, Ashley, was neither drunk nor was she playing Indian music on her iPhone. She was friendly and helpful and her freckles go on for days. Nice girl who checked in on us several times to make sure we were enjoying the meal. Overall great service. We had several dishes, the madras chicken and rogan josh for meat, and for veggie the palak paneer and channa masala. Naan on the side and a couple mango lassis. Everything was very good, my favourites being the paneer and chicken. We ended up asking for some of the house-made hot sauce on the side which helped kick up the heat a bit. The reason I am giving it four not five stars is that I ordered naan, instead of rice for my mutter paneer, and the naan is just not up to the par. Had I skipped the naan and ordered rice, I probably would have give the place five stars. It's a great hole in the wall, with carefully prepared food, cooked literally at home. I appreciated that the spice level was not dummed down.
