I brought them my Stihl chainsaw because it would not start. They told me it had no compression and that the cylinder was scored and the saw was not worth repairing. They told me I needed a new saw. I went to another private repair guy in Chico who does chainsaws and he told me I had bad fuel, he put good fuel in it and it works great. I understand needing to sell a chainsaw but really? Really? Let me just start by saying, I'm not the type of person that would write a negative review unless it was really bad. My experience with IPP has been so bad multiple times that I will not return to this place. The service department is absolutely terrible. They will play games and try to charge you for work even when your product is covered under warranty. There are other Stihl dealers in town. Stay away from this one. read more

Went to IPP to pick up a couple of spark plugs for my chain saw that I had bought there along with my backpack blower and my weed eater and my first chain saw which was about 30 years ago. Over $20 dollars for 2 NGK sparkplugs. When I questioned that price I was told they had gone way up and that's just what they cost these days. I looked online when I got home and they're prices ranged from $1.51 each to $3.89 at the local auto parts store 2 blocks from my house. So much for loyalty! If they don't care about my business, I ain't got time for them either. They have seen the last $ from me. I drop off 2 chains to be sharpened and am told,"That'll be a couple days out". One week later, I get tired of waiting on the phone, drive out there to be told they were just finishing up ( which in retail lingo means they haven't even started) and I could either wait or come back. After waiting for approx. 20 minutes, my chains are brought out and I'm told that'll be $20. Now my contribution to Industrial Power on their P&L wouldn't matter, and I did purchase my saw there so regardless, I expect socially polite service. Did anybody say, Thanks for your patience, sorry you had to wait, thank you, F NO. Just accepted my money and went about his conversation with another employee. I really don't expect more than a little empathy. After 30 years in retail management, if under my direction, he would be filing for unemployment. Gee! Sorry you're having a tough day, think you're alone. You chose your job ...not me. So DO IT! read more

IPP is a great place to have work done on all kinds of equipment. I take all my lawn care equipment here to be serviced, tuned up, and fixed. They always do a great job and give me speedy service. One time, I needed to have my mower repaired. After finding out that it was going to be a lengthy repair, they loaned me a mower to use while they worked on mine. I took my chain saw in for a tune up as it was running erratically. My chain saw is 10 years old and has only 5-6 hours of use. I did have them replace the carburetor 3yrs ago because of ethanol fuel so I emptied the tank after one use. The estimate I received was for $257.57 which I declined and had to pay $47.50 for the diagnosis which no one mentioned up front. The sales person who took it in got real testy claiming that he had explained the diagnosis charge and I left not wanting a nasty confrontation that had no happy ending. I couldn't fix my tractor myself, they got me a fast repair date. I brought it in early that day and Mike had it fix by 11am. He told what the problem was and how he fix it. After the snow storm in Redding in 2019 that brought down so many trees, there was no chain saws in town to be found. Called Industrial Power Products in Chico and said he was closing but gave me his cell number and told me to call him when i got to town. Called him, he was there and got a killer deal on a new saw. Great place for high end chain saws and similiar type equipment.

Industrial Power Products worked on my John Deere in Spring of 2016. It took them a while, but I understand everyone is slammed with lawn equipment repairs in the spring so I didn't mind. I have acreage to clear before the heat sets in and we did it with our walk-behind mower while they worked on the ride-on. I was SO SO happy to have them deliver the John Deere to my place (outside of town) at last, since I have never made friends with my husband's trailer hitch and trailer (he was recently disabled). What great service! And everyone was so nice at the store and the shop. So I fired up the John Deere and found it...well, popping, and crapping out whenever the blade engaged. I youtubed it and tried a couple things. I called the shop three or four times over the course of a couple days. They said I had probably put bad gas in. Naw--I was using the same gas for the walk-behind. I parked the JD and finished off the season walking. Good for me. Got my steps in! The next spring, 2017, I wrote them, explaining that even tho my JD didn't work, I would not go back to them after dropping $400 on a mower I still could not use. I explained to them how a very, very good friend had come up to look at it (from LA!!) in late winter and found fuel spraying all over the top of the engine compartment. Al replaced the pump but we couldn't test-drive on wet grass. Once the grass dried out, it was still crapping out when the blades engaged. And that's the end of that story. Except, in fairness, my husband (who has Alzheimer's) did take a phone call that may have been from IPP, but the message was, well, unclear, so I followed up with another letter, but heard nothing back. Seriously, customer service is more than being super-duper nice and all. Nice is nice, and little extras are nice, but I am still out $400 and I have been mowing my hills on foot for three seasons now. I'll just put a John Deere ride-on mower on my list for when I can get around to buying another one new. read more

I took a saw to them to repair. They weren't able to repair it however that wasn't the problem. The problem was when I picked it up they handed it back to me in about a dozen pieces...they didn't put it back together because when they had call to let me know they weren't able to fix it they asked if I wanted to spend any more money on it. When I said no (I thought they were going to try other things to try and fix it-that's what I was saying no to) they just tossed it in a bag and were done. When I picked it up I questioned them and they said it was about $40 to $60 to put it back together...and I had said I didn't want to spend any more money so they just stopped. Maybe I'm just being picky but if you don't have enough work ethic to spend 20 minutes putting together what you took apart and you think it's okay to hand a customer their tool in pieces then I don't need to do business with you (I'll look for someone a little more honorable and moral). I bought a new saw, but it wasn't from them...it could have been though. read more
