Indy Auto Man The short story: I do not recommend purchasing from this dealership. The long story: It's been weeks since I last heard from Indy Auto Man and I gave them every opportunity to make this right. I (remotely) purchased a vehicle from Indy Auto Man and it was completely misrepresented. I am looking at a looming $4k repair that was fully known by the Indy Auto Man staff (if they deny this it means they're inept at their job). Not only did they let me down with a major required service, but the entire experience was disappointing. There was very few things that Indy Auto Man did right. I'll try my best to explain it all, but there was so many failures I might miss a few. The first red flag was that they wouldn't help me get the car I purchased (2016 Audi Q3) to an independent shop for a pre-purchase inspection. While I understand that it can take time out of their day to do this, it's not abnormal to expect it and gives the buyer (especially when remote) the peace of mind they're looking for. I ended up using a service my salesman recommended, which was subpar at best. Our newly purchased car got a check engine light the day we received it and it turned out to be due to the turbo failing. I've had 2 shops diagnose this issue and both confirmed the same thing: The turbo needs to be replaced ($3.7k). As soon as you drive this car you notice that it's slow due to the turbo not working properly. Nobody at Indy Auto Man or the third party service I used for inspection claims to have noticed anything despite it being glaringly obvious to all car drivers in our household. IT IS SLOW. On top of that, a failing turbo leads to a check engine light, but unsurprisingly the check engine light was not on when this car was at the dealership nor in the photos that I received. Turbos do not spontaneously fail, they take years and many miles to lead to a check engine light. This means that somebody at some point "reset" the engine codes. Whether it was Indy Auto Man or the auction that sold them the car doesn't matter, they sold me damaged goods. Aside from the very obvious failure, Indy Auto Man misled me, behaved dishonestly, or just flat out dismissively at almost every step of my experience with them ... 1. When I received the purchase order they had snuck in $2,000 in add-ons that we had never discussed: GPS tracker, catalytic converter protection, & some kind of theft recovery package (phone number etched into the windows). Although they ended up removing almost all of this when I caught it, this felt incredibly dishonest. 2. The battery died within the first few days of driving. It turns out a cheap random battery was added to this car at some point that is underrated for this engine. A proper inspection would've caught this. 3. They wouldn't negotiate one bit on the price. If I had known about the turbo issue we would've had more room for negotiation. 4. They "forgot" to send my paperwork to the DMV and instead sent it to me at the last minute. I had to take time off work to go to the DMV to get the car registered. 5. When I confronted them about the turbo issue they claimed surprise and tried to blame it on the auction house they purchased it from. They suggested I could bring the car to them and they'd repair it for me at a discount. They're 3 hours away from me and they didn't even provide a price fro the repair, it was only a suggestion. I asked for a repair quote (I already had 2 quotes from 2 different repair shops) and it took them over a week to provide the quote. This was yet another sign that they were dragging their feet and stringing me along. Creating a repair quote for turbo replacement on one of the most common VW/Audi engines that has ever been produced in the last 20 years doesn't take more than a few minutes. Indy Auto Man has confirmed every stereotype that a typical independent car dealership has: they're dishonest, they want to pass the buck to somebody else, and they won't do anything for you once cash has changed hands. They asked me for a good review, or if I had anything less than 5 stars for them then I should call them to try to get things made right. I gave them ample opportunities to course correct, but all I received was misdirection and finger pointing. LIARS - FAKE ADVERTISEMENT - DO NOT DEAL WITH THESE PEOPLE- YELP REVIEWS MORE ACCURATE I'm from St. Louis, 4 hours away from these liars. I made a deal a week before I drove to them. Sales man STEVE said the vehicle is perfect condition he saw it himself. He said all their vehicles go through a 150 point inspection (KEEP THIS IN MIND) Unfortunately I believed Steve and these 4.9 stars. READ THE 1 STAR REVIEWS are more accurate, I wish I did. I told Steve that I will be driving 4 hours to get this vehicle and trade mine in. I've told Steve that I have kids and I will be on a tight schedule and to make sure the vehicle is ready to go when I get there multiple times, there are text messages to proof. I made it clear that I want to arrive, test drive, sign and go back as I sent all papers and had all mine with me. I informed Steve a week prior when I will head his way. Steve ensured me that the vehicle is ready to go a night before and the morning I drove out. I texted Steve night before I drove out, I texted steve when I was 40 miles away. I arrived, first thing Steve told me; the car is being cleaned and we ran out of gas in our tanks but there is a gas station across the street that I can go and fill up no worries. Remember the car was ready to go right? Lied from the first second I met these people. Had no respect for my time. It gets better, I can't make this up. He was pushing to sign papers etc. but first we test drove the vehicle. When I returned with the vehicle, I pointed out to Steve that the vehicle had 2 visible dents one in the front and one in the back that I was never told about. The vehicle plastic inside the car was cracked/broken. The chrome piece on the button for windows was broken. None of this was told me. The MAIN ISSUE was when I opened up the hood to check the engine, I was done checking, so I closed the hood and the hood light was on, so I was confused. I went back out to check, opened the hood and saw that passenger light was loose. I was able to pick up the whole LIGHT ASSEMBLY out with my hands. The only thing that was holding the light down were the cables. I showed that to STEVE, guess what this guy does, amazing. He goes in gets a random SCREW and a SCREW DRIVER in front of me and tries to screw down the light assembly. That's how they treat and half ass their vehicles guys. I mentioned to Steve that he told me that all vehicles go through a 150 point inspection, he said that's what we say, but it really doesn't. I asked him, if this vehicle went through any sort of inspection, how the hell did they not see the light being completely loose? He said I DON'T KNOW. I asked if they missed something that obvious, what else did they miss, he said I DON'T KNOW. Remember, I've asked Steve to get this vehicle ready for me and he promised me it was ready to go. These people don't even open hoods to check their cars. You can't tell me you did any sort of inspection and miss a big light assembly being loose. After that he said he would take it to a shop down the street 6-7 blocks away and it would maybe take an HOUR for them to determine how to fix this and said let's sit down and sign papers, these were his words after all that. Remember this vehicle was ready to go and PERFECT condition. I did not want to wait for another minute, I was already lied too and did not want to stick around and left home. Management/owner PLEASE, PLEASE, don't waste your time to respond to this review and pretend like you guys care and look to resolve any issues like I've seen many replies on these reviews from you. Ignore the 5 star reviews and only read the 1 star reviews. Indy Auto Man will waste your time, gaslight you, and flat out BREAK THE LAW to sell you a car. The worst car buying experience I've ever had. Not only did they illegally sell me a car, their management will make false and hollow offers. On 5 separate occasions I was told a manager would get back to me within a certain timeframe, and they didn't. After a day or so I would reach out, and get told some BS like "we tried to call you and we left a message". I never had a missed call or voicemail from them. They record all calls and emails, and I believe they falsify these records by recording fake voicemails to play back to you when you question them... it wasn't even my voicemail greeting!! Just read some of the other reviews; managers claiming customers had never even done business with them so THEY can play the victim. The inspection report wasn't even worth the paper it was written on. Don't believe any of the replies managers leave to these reviews. It took the threat of litigation to finally get my money back for the car they illegally sold me. Even then, I'm still $2,500 out of pocket due to loan interest, transportation and insurance. I was interested in two vehicles on their KBB ads. I drove down to look them over this afternoon and was ready to buy one or the other. But I walked the lot and didn't see either. So I went in. The flat-hatted douchebag at the counter, without ever looking up, asked if I had an appointment. I said no. He then said "what's your phone number?" I said I'm not ready to give out my personal info yet, I'm just looking for a couple of vehicles they've got in their ads. He said, very rudely, "I can't help ya without your number." I responded that I guess they don't want my business then and he shot back, "Ok, I guess we don't!" Don't think he ever even looked up from his computer screen. Buying a car for me is several steps. Similar to the other review, this place was a waste of time. We explained that we were renting a car to be able to drive two hours and see a car. The alignment was off and there were visible dents that were not listed on Car Fax. They told us that we could drive 40 more minutes to get the dent fixed because their guy wasn't around to be able to fix it and they wouldn't drop the price. Interior was also stained in the front. If the maintenance was actually on site and could fix the car we might've actually bought it. The service was also not very friendly in my opinion. read more

Horrible experience! Don't waste your time! I was looking at a vehicle and had been working with Noe. I requested a bill of sale to be emailed to me and he agreed to send it by end of day. He did not. I had to call 2 more times to get him to email it. A few days later I set up an appointment & had a check in-hand to purchase the vehicle. I am from Fort Wayne so I confirmed with Noe that the vehicle was still available before I made the 2 hour trip to Indy to buy it. He confirmed it is there & available. As soon as we pulled in at our scheduled appointment time. Noe informs me that the car was taken away for repairs YESTERDAY and there is no way for me to see or test drive it. I purchased my car through them 3 years ago. The paperwork process did not go well and they didn't charge me sales tax, so I had to come up with another $1200 on top of the $4,000 I put down. Just wasn't expecting that. I bought the warranty from them. DO NOT BUY THE WARRANTY. The company went bankrupt and so here I am stuck paying for a warranty I will never be able to use. The only reason I'm giving this dealership two stars instead of one is because the car I purchased from them has treated me well. All other aspects of my experience with this dealership has been mediocre at best. They hassle you to give a positive review as you're walking out of the building, but I always wait until I get both keys, drive the car for a few days, and ensure I have no issues after purchase. Your review of a company is very important, and I most definitely take them seriously, and here is why. For starters, I purchased a 2014 Chevrolet Corvette from them that had approximately 68K miles on it at the time of purchase. After I bought the car, I noticed that there was a mileage discrepancy on the carfax, stating that the milage had went from 60K miles down to 46K miles during an oil change while the car was in their possession. I immediately contacted them regarding correcting the CarFax information in fear of losing value of the car. I contacted this dealership multiple times over the course of 3 months with nothing being done. Eventually, I had decided to correct it myself by reaching out to CarFax and having them correct my mileage. Secondly come time for registration, I learned from the check cashing place that I overpaid on taxes by approximately 700$ and some change. I reached out to the car dealership back in early February to clarify on the amount of taxes I paid. This by far has been the most inconvenient and strenuous process I've ever been through. I'd repeatedly call their dealership and attempt to get a hold of someone on their finance team to confirm the numbers, and I would be told that I'll receive a call back. No calls have ever been made towards me or the amount of money owed. I have had to call this place regarding updates, and tracking numbers every day for the past two weeks, albeit being tossed around from agent to agent promising to keep in contact and give me updates, only for them to not contact me at all and forcing me to contact THEM for THEIR financing mistake. It's absolutely insanity how much they do not care about their previous customers. Once they sell you the car, their customer service goes down the drain and the real hell starts. As we head into the middle of March, I STILL have yet to receive any of the money this company owes me. I'd avoid this dealership if possible. Horrible. read more

Low break pads on back and something is still wrong to have the transmission light coming on. I don't usually write reviews but I would encourage anyone to stay far away from this dealership. I went in to look at minivans, and I was very pleased with what they had on the lot. I'm a mom of five, and although I don't know much about the mechanics of cars, I do know how to be smart when buying one. I looked into my credit score, what interest rate I should be offered, how much comparable vehicles in the area cost...etc. I also know that if one doesn't know a whole lot about cars, one should take a used car to a mechanic before purchasing. All of those things were done. I took the van on a test drive down to my mechanic who did a thorough check of it. We found that it needed a new ball joint and four new tires since the ones on the van would need to be replaced almost immediately. All in all, they said it needed about $1100 in repairs, but that it was a good van and I should consider buying it. I went back to Indy Auto Man with my bargaining chip in hand and tried to make a deal. My sales woman was awesome! Brandy understood and went to go tell the finance people what I said. What I was met with next was unconscionable. I wish I could remember his name... But the guy that came out to talk to me about money was an absolute joke. He started writing a bunch of numbers on a paper and circle talking me trying to tell me that I couldn't afford this van. Understand, I did my homework before I walked in there... I had a down payment and I knew what my percentage rate should be. What he quoted me was so off-the-wall high, there was no way we were even speaking the same language. I told him I should qualify for a better percentage rate (3.9 is what I had been quoted from my bank...He was offering some obnoxious rate of like five times that amount) but he told me his rate was the new industry standard and that I was just wrong. There was no way I would qualify for 3.9 interest rate. He said those rates don't even exist anymore. (In case you were wondering, after this experience I went to my bank, got a pre-approval for a loan at 3.9 for the price of the van I was looking at with the monthly payment I was trying to get with Indy Auto Man...but I digress) Then he went on to do some crazy math where only at 0% could I get down to the monthly payment I was looking at. (Well, I understand...but he could if he would take the price of the van down a little bit due to the repairs that need to be made and add in the down payment that I had...but whatever... he was on a roll) Ultimately, he was not willing to work with me at all, we ended the conversation with him telling me that I didn't know how to do math. Literally those words came out of his mouth...twice. "Your math is wrong." "It seems like your just having a problem doing math." Really? Ok Indy Auto Man. I made an appointment to look at a vehicle. When I arrived, I was pleasantly greeted and given the keys to the truck. The salesman, Jaime, got a copy of my license and I headed to check it out. He told me he would be back with the temp plate. I waited in the vehicle while he did that. He came out and put the plate on and simply walked off. He made no attempt whatsoever to show me the vehicle features or establish rapport. Just walked away! Maybe I read more into it than I should. But, as a lone female, I really felt like like he just didn't think I would be purchasing a vehicle without my husband so I wasn't worth his time. I returned the keys and walked out. Monday evening (10-7-19) I saw a vehicle online that I was interested in, so I left my email address for inquiry. Promptly Tuesday morning, someone reached out to me and said they were passing me on to a Sales Associate. Hours later I heard nothing, so I reached back out to that person. Finally the Sales person called me. I told him that I am at work and need to be emailed for correspondence exchange. He emailed me what he needed, and I responded. Again, hours later I did not hear from him so I called again. He was with a customer and said he would call me back in a few. An hour later, I called again. He forgot about me. He asked me for the same info I already gave via email - he never read my email. The next day, he called me and asked for someone else. He then apologized and said he had my number mixed up with another customer, but I was next on his list and he would be calling me shortly. Um, but you are on the phone with ME now, so why can't you help me now and have the other customer next on your list??? I didn't ask this, but I thought it. After hours of not hearing from this guy, I emailed the Sales Manager and explained the situation. Instead of being passed off, I asked if I could just deal with him directly since he does the finances anyway. I told him what I wanted and what I could pay. He responded after hours, and said he would handle the situation in the morning. I explicitly stated in the email to him, to EMAIL me and not call, because I work and cannot take calls. So, what happens the next day? A phone call! From another sales associate. I couldn't answer because I was at work, so this new sales associate left me a voice mail. I called back on my lunch and got his voicemail. I left him a message and asked him to email me. Hours later I received no response. I called the dealership after I got off of work, and no one answered....? Did the dealership close at 5? I left a voicemail. It is now four days after my initial inquiry, and I have gotten nowhere. No follow up. I can see that this is a recurring problem at Indy Man. I don't know if the dealership just doesn't want to deal with me, or if they are just too busy to help another customer. I don't know this, because no one is communicating with me. Kevin, it seems like you are doing some great things in your business. How about retraining your sales team to be responsive to customers, and FOLLOW THROUGH? Follow through is what makes a sale, not crickets in the night. The only reason that I ended up not buying the car was that there were some features that weren't present that I later decided that I'd like. A few things I like about Indy Auto Man: * They are not pushy and really interested in ensuring you are taken care of and listened to throughout the entire process. * They encourage you to get your vehicle checked by an independent mechanic. They stand behind their vehicles * They believe in diversity and have a diverse staff. It's not just a bunch of men selling and servicing cars. * If you don't find something on their lot you're interested in, they can still help you with the buying process and securing a vehicle for you. My experience with Indy Auto Man was horrible. My husband and I brought a truck from and Indy Auto MAN and 35 days later had a 3000 repair done and two weeks later a 2700 repair done. Guess what it back in the shop again with over a 1000 repair. Only had the truck for a little over 90 days. This is a 40,000 truck that they sold us! OH, let not talk about the warrant that they sold us. ( it was not the one my husband said he wanted )When the check engine light came on he took it back and they did not want to fix and told us to go to GMC to have them to look at it. We ask them to help with paying for repair ( that would be the right thing to do ) or take the truck back. Instead of doing the right thing , they wanted us to trade the truck in and be up side down on a new loan. This place is unbelievable and I feel like we was scam out of 40,000. I'm not a fan of the entire buying a vehicle process, but Jakob and Matt's down to earth attitude and great customer service really made my experience buying my Jeep a great one. The price of the vehicle was fair for the same make and model with the mileage. After purchasing the vehicle I noticed an oil leak, and even after the purchase the customer service and assistance I received from Jakob was just beyond reproach. I cannot say enough about the professionalism and customer service given at Indy Auto Man, I would recommend them to anyone without question. They are crooks. We bought a truck and put $3000 down. Drove it 2.5 hrs back home to Ky. 3 days later it rained, and the whole inside of the mega cab was flooded. Water even poured through the DVD player. They wanted to charge us $2800 to buy a warranty . They said the would come get the truck, and tried to charge us for that "service" They kept the truck and our down payment.
