I don't use price as my final determination. I also checked his reviews and they were all excellent. Shane came over my house to give me an estimate and show me some carpet samples. He was very professional and polite. I chose my carpet, put down a deposit and Shane told me when he expected the carpet to come in. He did advise me that there might be a delay due to supply chain issues. While waiting for the carpet, Shane was easy to get a hold of and he was very communicative. The carpet came in when he thought it would and we scheduled the install. When Shane arrived to install the carpet he was very careful and meticulous. He put down clean gripping drop cloths wherever it was necessary while he worked. He made sure that his tools and carpet weren't in the way of foot traffic. Shane is a hard worker and you can see the pride he takes in his work. He completely moved our bedroom furniture, removed the old carpet and pad and installed the new carpet, and replaced our bedroom furniture, in one bedroom, in one day. He not only installed the new carpet but he fixed a squeak we had in the floors of both bedrooms. Shane made sure we were happy with the furniture placement and was very careful moving it. The next day, Shane removed the furniture, removed the old carpet, installed the new carpet and replaced the furniture in our smaller bedroom/office, in a half a day. The products Shane uses are top of the line, unlike Home Depot and he goes above and beyond when installing the carpet. The tile mechanic, Jose did a good job and was very accommodating and pleasant to work with. The floor refinishers were another story. Of the three workers he left on the job, one doing the edging continued working. The other worker listened to loud music, sat on the floor with a drink and loudly sang along with the radio and did a minimum amount of work. The drum sander was either inexperienced, untrained or careless because he started with a very coarse sandpaper but never moved to succeeding grits of finer sandpapers, which left deep scratch marks in the hardwood. As a retired CT licensed home inspector and licensed home improvement contractor, I felt qualified to evaluate this job. When I explained to Miguel why I wasn't happy with the job and asked him to re-sand the floor he refused and came back the next morning to add another coat of finish which did nothing to smooth out the scratches. When he returned the following day, I told him the floor was no better and again asked him to re-sand the floors which he again refused. I subsequently hired another floor refinisher who correctly re-sanded the floors and they came out beautiful. Two days later Miguel called me for a final payment. I told him I had fired him and hired another company to redo his job. He threatened to go into the house and rip out all the tile. I immediately called Meriden Police and explained what had happened and they called Miguel and told him if he entered the house he would be arrested, whereupon he left the property. In addition, Miguel left many bags of sawdust, tile and tile cement on the front lawn and in the house which he had promised to remove. I cannot recommend this company.
