After leaving a concert and heading back to the hotel, we quickly found there were no food options open past 10pm on a Friday night on the Biltmore side of Asheville....kind of shocking, especially for a Friday night. As we drove past our hotel we eventually came to an Ingles and decided to go in and grab some snacks. I was able to find some pre made sandwiches, and ended up getting a Boars Head Roast Beef sandwich...not what I was craving, but it definitely filled the need. I was also able to pick up some mouth wash from the personal care section, which I had forgotten in my packing. All in all my experience was fine, just another grocery store, nothing too fancy, but also no issues, and not bad pricing. I'd shop here again if ever in the area. read more

Saturday, August 2nd 2025 @ 11:05-11:10 Watched this employee leave on foot from the store with the 2 others. First 2 got into a green Kia soul. Other person got into the truck in the video. Scared me senseless while trying to decompress in the storm!! He peeled out in a burnout from his parking space at the far right corner of the store. By the time I could get my camera out he was to the left side of the store!!! And continued to drive recklessly. I doubt I'll go out of my way to shop here ever again with the employees being so careless!! Good riddance ingles!! read more

The employees are all very nice. The store seems well organized, and easy to navigate. -However, there never seem to be enough people working at the deli counter (sliced meats& cheeses). I have often had to leave the counter very frustrated by not being able find anyone to wait on me. It's very annoying and a big waste of time. Please hire more people to staff the deli. read more

I've been shopping here for almost a year and I consistently find expired food on the shelves at this Ingles, or I get overcharged for sale items (many many times this happens and they don't have the sales updated in the register system) and then I have to wait really long for a manager to show up to fix the price or I gotta run back to the sale item and take a picture of the sale price as if it's my job. I don't know what's going on at this store but I hope they fix it. I'd give it one star but they do tend to have some decent sales on things like yogurt and organic produce and I can't really blame the underpaid employees for this: I'm imagining it's a problem with the higher ups. Seriously: why are groceries here just as expensive as Los Angeles but the employees get paid way less? No wonder there's so many issues with this store. Please do something about this, Ingles. Zero stars Incompetent customer service and pathetic employee service. The store at 780 Hendersonville Rd, Asheville, NC 28803 is the worst grocery store in the entire universe. I stood while a VERY nice older gentleman checked me out and bagged my groceries while 2 20-somethings stood by doing nothing to help him out. This is a review of Ingles stores generally. Naturally, companies will tout what they feel are their strong points when they advertise. However, Ingles' claim of low prices/savings is not based in reality. They create the illusion of bargains by hanging "on sale" tags on nearly every item on the shelves showing (inflated) normal prices along with the "sale" prices. Who can't see through that? As to "best meat in town", I'm not sure what town they're referring to. One look at a Publix meat case disproves this claim dramatically. I've also been put off by prices showing higher at the checkout than what's on the shelf. Errors can occur in an operation that offers thousands of items, but when the error is brought to the attention of management, and they do nothing to correct it, it makes you wonder! This has happened to me on several occassions, mostly with produce items. I've purchased them, noted the discrepancy, spoken to management about it, bought the same item, say, a week later, and the price hasn't been corrected. One can draw their own conclusions. Finally, in interactions at customer service, I've frequently been met with sullen or indifferent personnel. Better food-shopping experiences are out there to be had! read more

We don't have an Ingles in our area. But I do feel like they have solid stores across the board. This is my second experience with one in the last 6 months. And even though it is just a grocery store, you can still distinguish how superior it is to other. But again, Ingles seems pretty high quality. Great selection even with the supply chain down. We were sans kids this time so not sure how kid friendly. But their beer and wine section was good for our taste. It seems to be our stop for going to the mountain regions. But if I had one in town, I wouldn't hesitate. The staff is super friendly. So no complaints there. The selection is good as is the parking. Overall, I've been to better groceries. But this one was as solid as they come. read more

Every 2-3 months for a price range of about 2-11 cents (per pound), I have to go to the manager and tell them the posted sign price doesn't match the charge at the register. The manager gives me my money without a problem. Do NOT use curbside for picking up produce. At ingles Asheville hwy---Seems like they pass off spoiled produce on curbside customers. For a refund you have to take it back in the store. Kind of negated the point of paying for curbside. Will give my business to aldis and pick out my own produce again. just scary to shop in person right now. read more

I honestly believe they push their employees so hard to make sure the shelves are full that they don't prioritize the customer nor selling anything. You would think as hard as they work as packing the meat and stocking the shelves they would take a second to sell you an item. Good luck with that. Their added value is you wait with no customers in line for 20 minutes till they get around to selling you a piece of meat. Same with the cafeteria. Everything looks good. All the pans are full. If they sell something the manager might see a helping missing from a pan and scream at them. How hard is it to stock items or prepare meals and keep an eye on the register? Not one of them can do it or they are forbidden too. I would guess if they put a good manager in the meat department and the deli they could triple their sales. It really is that bad. It's sad they don't just watch the cameras and see how many people are walking away from the added value departments empty-handed. There are 2 exceptions. The bakery and the veggie department. I don't think I have walked through either of those departments without being asked if they can be of any help. They should put those managers over deli, meat, and concessions and watch their money grow. read more

I recently moved to WNC from Florida,Ingles seems to have a monopoly in these small towns ,but not offering the best service or products. There are expired foods on the shelves,expired food in the dairy section,rotting fruit,expired cheeses in the speciality cheese area. I have witnessed workers at the deli area eating while slicing cold cuts. Really unsure how quality control works. Most managers aren't even sure where items are located. I have visited Ingles in ,Marion,Morganton,Forest City,Chesnee,Shelby. All have the same expiration product issues.. Maybe a little Publix competition is what Ingles needs to wake up ,do better for your customers.​ read more

We have shopped at Ingles for many many years and have always for the most part had great service and products. Recently our local Ingles Market has started selling maybe sub par products, one in general is their Laura Lynn milk. The milk has nearly doubled in price and more than 50% of the time is bad well before the expiration date. I tried contacting them about this but never get a response back. I don't like shopping elsewhere due to the drive and it's more crowded but maybe that's a sign. Thanks for no response. read more

Though this is definitely not my go-to grocery store (I'm an Aldi girl 100%), I don't mind having to stop in this specific Ingles on my way to/from work. They always seem to have plenty of staff on duty and the store is always clean and well-stocked. The layout of this store is what you'd expect at any food chain with produce, meats, and dairy around the outskirts of the stores with the prepackaged and canned goods filling the center. They always have multiple checkout lanes open as well as multiple self-check lanes. I feel like compared to other Ingles, this one always moves pretty quickly. I give this location 4 stars rather than 5 because it is smaller and less visually appealing than some of the other stores and they don't have a Starbucks located inside. I will continue to shop at Aldi for the bulk of my groceries, but I don't mind coming to Ingles to buy any other products I need such as cat litter, deodorant and specific veggies that I might want. read more

Just went to Ingles to get some fried chicken. After 3 workers ignored me for a long time, 1 finally came to me and said "what do want"? I asked for 2 thighs and 2 legs. He quickly grabbed 2 pieces and threw them into box. I asked them if those were thighs and he rolled his eyes and said yes. I got to my hotel and what do you know. 2 legs and 2 breasts. The breasts were extremely dry like leather. I live in Florida and go to Publix. Never have I been treated like that or have bad chicken. Publix is delicious. Glad to see some Publix stores locally. We just had an interesting experience at Ingles. We were using the self checkout line and when there was a problem with the system, a clerk came over to fix the problem. Then, she proceeded to go through every bag we had rung up. We proceeded to checkout but in hindsight, we should have canceled the transaction and purchased groceries elsewhere. It was surprising to experience this type of treatment. It won't happen again as we will be shopping elsewhere. read more

I am a lifelong resident of WNC and have been shopping at Ingles for 60+ years. I've tried others over the years but have always came back to Ingles. On Monday January 29, around 4-4:30 after being at the VA hospital all day and totally wore out, we decided to run through the car wash real quick. I paid my $10 and pulled in as always. As the arm began to spray and go around my car, the arm hit my mirror, pushing it in towards the car and the arm was stuck. It did not complete the wash from that point. I pulled the car to the left to get the arm off my car. I then went to the attendant at the gas station and they gave me my money back and gave me a code to get another wash. This time it worked fine. After I pulled out of the car wash, I noticed a scratch on my mirror! I went inside the store to notify customer service about what had happened. The next day I received a call from customer service who said that the manager had went out and watched other cars go through and it was working fine, and that they would not be responsible for fixing my car. They stated that I must have been pulled too far to the right My concern with this is that there are no lines or no lanes for you to line up your car. How do you know where "too far" is? Aren't there electronic eyes to line up the car? I am so hurt and so disappointed for the lack of concern for the damage that was done. Unfortunately, after over 60 years I will be taking my business elsewhere. It's a shame that a hometown company treats us this way. I am so disappointed. read more

all the other reviews are absolutely accurate. Jessica the Customer service manager here knows nothing about customer service. Her ignorance and the lack of training given to employees at Ingles is what will cause the to eventually go out of business. This is my second visit to the store after just moving to the area, and today they lost the opportunity to earn a new local customer. I will not be back. The reason for this is simple; I asked for $1.50 credit when I notice I had been over charged for a produce item on my first visit to the store. This is a chain store and it should have been easy to just offer me a credit for the amount overcharged, even though I had made the purchase at a different Ingles location, which I honestly did not realize until she pointed it out. But Jessica was afraid she would 'lose her job' for the small credit which was merely a principle issue for me, not actually about the $1.50. After accusing me of lying about the item, I promised her this would be my last time setting foot in this store. Very unfortunate the good customer service is not seen as a protection to profits. When you treat customers with courtesy and good will, they become loyal and spend their hard earned money at your establishment. When you are small minded and clearly not looking out for making your customers happy, they go elsewhere for good. We have choices as consumers and my $$$ will never be spent here again read more

Pretty tired of ingles employees attitude. If the job is that bad, go somewhere else because no one wants to put up with you. Meat cutters are especially obnoxious. Close second are the people cutting luncheon meat. I left the counter at the Waynesville store today after hearing Stoney speak to the woman in front of me. (Stoney needs a personality!)I didn't need it that bad, not when Publix across the road has it too. The only Ingles in my area that is different is Hazelwood. In fact I go out of my way to shop there. Employees actually speak to you, wish you a good day, and get this...thank you! Other Ingles take note. You are NOT the only grocery around. CHECK THE DATES! I've found two different items (fully stocked on the shelf..) that were way passed their expirations. When I showed it to the customer service/manager to try to get a different one, he told me "It's still fine, you can still use it." Then when I told him I wanted it fresh, he said they'd get a new shipment in sometime. Then he put it BACK. I could not BELIEVE I found them still there after telling them about it. That's how people get sick! Not to mention we've seen guys in the parking lot shoving their carts toward the direction of the cart corral, and they hit the car parked a space beside it. :/ Just not worth it. read more

Each and every shopping trip I make to this grocery chain location, they are out of or simply do not carry at least one(and many times multiple items) on our shopping list. Yesterday they did not have fresh dill. The time before it was lemongrass. Staff at most Ingles markets are just flat out never trained to be helpful, preform simple tasks, or clean anything based on how the employees at this(and most locations) in the deli section slice meat. Each time I go to the deli it is as if it was the very first time they ever used a meat slicer. They give you a "sample" to verify the thickness is correct then you get home and inconsistency is just brutal. The worst by far about the Ingles brand as a whole is how the folks they hire are not trained to smile or be friendly to customers. Even management looking types for the most part go out of the way to avoid contact with customers by hiding up front in the "penalty box of an office"...I've come to the conclusion this is not just because they are unfriendly and the company is just fine with that but I truly believe they have no passion for the job or life. My worst experience was when I stopped in to get meat to grill at 7:45pm on a weekend this summer and the gal was already taking all product back to the walk-in cooler. When I asked if she was able to grab a couple items you would have thought I caused physical harm to her by simply asking for help...so sad they choose to hire people who literally have zero pride in the work they are paid to preform. read more

My family spends around 500.00 month at the Forest City store. I was in there couple weeks ago with my usual 125.00 purchase. And girl from behind the Management Counter came over and ask me if I was going to pay for 2 items that were still in my cart next to my purse. ( Salad dressing and something else) I said God Yes! I was not through checking out, The boys were still ringing up my items. I still had items on the belt and was still on left side of the cashier. I clearly was not through completing my purchase. I feel like grocers and their superiors should wear a smile and greet customers that are spending hundreds of dollars in these stores. But not him, he looked like a huge mass of anger and hostility! I'm not sure if any of these other ungrateful idiots have ever shopped at any other grocery store in their life, but I personally LOVED this place. I loved their layout, selection, LIGHTING (it is oddly and truly everything when shopping for literally anything) was on point. We came in looking for some simple things: a small birthday cake (the bakers happily wrote happy birthday on a completely plain cake and offered to decorate it), some snacks, and some wine and left with more than we could have hoped for because this place was so lovely. There was just the right amount of staff available to assist if needed and it seemed like they were constantly stocking in every department! I wish they had Ingles in my hometown!! read more

Really like the Ingles grocery stores....all except for Ingles store brand Laura Lynn. I have tried a few items from this brand and returned them all !!! The Old Fashioned Oats were awful, the kitchen trash bag (s) ripped (too flimsy) and their fat free cottage cheese is yuck! I do love the ice cream brand Mayfield Creamery but suggest staying clear of any of the Laura Lynn products. read more

I live in the land of Harris-Teeter, so I am sort of picky about grocery stores. Ingles is not quite at the level of Harris Teeter in my book but I think its nicer than places like Food Lion or BI-LO. If I lived in the Asheville area and didn't have an option to go to HT, I would probably shop here on a regular basis. This was my first time shopping with Ingles because I just came from out of state. I asked the cashier if I could sign up for an Advantage Card to use with my purchase. She didn't know what I was talking about. Then she said "they don't like us to give those out." The guy helping bag groceries overheard what I was asking for and he went and got a card and an application form from the customer service desk. He knew what I was asking for. So I filled out the application, still standing in line. Then, the cashier looked at my full cart of groceries and said I could only use the Advantage Card on 1 item and that I had to pick which one from my cart. All this was over a span of 10 minutes mind you. I was so mad I was shaking. Even the guy bagging groceries was looking at the cashier like she was nuts. I went ahead and paid, left the store, and then realized I got ripped off. I went back and the store manager, Ashley P, profusely apologized for the way I was treated. She rang up all my groceries again and gave me the Advantage Card savings on my entire cart. It was a $23 savings because I had purchased so many groceries. She said she would "deal with that cashier." I swear that cashier seemed geeked up on something. I'm glad the manager was so nice, but I don't know if I can go back to Ingles, at least not this location. read more

We have shopped at the Landrum, SC store since opening, generally the experience is great, only two issues that occur each week. Rotisserie Chicken container, we purchase at least two weekly, terrible lid fit on that container, the plastic or paper bag always stained from leakage or lid pops off. Quality of the paper bag, old bags were fine, these new bags tear and split before arriving home, difficult to get groceries in the door. read more

The thing about Ingles is that it's the grocery store you go to when there are no other options. You definitely don't go here expecting excellent (or even decent) customer service. The store is generally neat and tidy and stocks reasonably good food, but the staff here clearly hate their jobs. And I mean HATE their jobs. Not a single smile in sight. You could stand in front of the hot food bar area for minutes making eye contact with employees multiple times before someone grudgingly walks over to serve you. You can't find anyone to help you look for a hidden item and if you do, don't expect a smile. They also hire teenagers who openly and loudly talk in front of customers about how much they hate their jobs and how they can't wait to leave for the day. This is a stark contrast between them and Publix. Publix workers clearly love what they do, do it with a smile, and actually hunt you down to see if you need help. One would think that the prices at Ingles would reflect the lack of decent customer service, but not a chance! Some of the highest non-organic grocery store prices in town. read more
