It's a true taste of Clarksville, exceptional enough to be included in the Texas Monthly Best of TX BBQ listings. You can't go wrong here with the plate lunches, served hot daily Wednesdays through Fridays. We were here on Tuesday, so we ordered single meat plates that came with a generous portion of smoked meat of your choice, homemade mayonnaise potato salad, Cole slaw, pinto beans, and two slices of ethereally soft white bread to soak up every delicious drop of aside and meat. I had the pork plate, which was a perfect lunch portion of tender, moist, smoky pork butt in thin slices and pulled shreds, swimming in a sweet vinegary sauce. It reminded me of Carolina barbecue, but without the mustard. My husband had the sliced brisket plate, which he enjoyed. The brisket was sliced thin and served hot, with the same tangy sauce and sides. We both cleaned our plates. The restaurant features enough tables to set a good after-church crowd, stocked with pepper vinegar and hot sauce to spice it up - if you dare! The ambiance is homey and family, with several memorials dedicated to "BBQ Man" George Coleman, deliver our master who passed in 2011. 5 Soul of East Texas BBQ stars
