Instead of feeling welcomed, I felt like I was being lectured throughout the check-in process. The hotel markets itself as a beachfront property, but that's misleading. Only some of the rooms are actually on the beach side. Many rooms, including ours, are located across the street, which was a major disappointment compared to what the advertising suggests. To make matters worse, although the hotel didn't appear to be anywhere near full occupancy, it felt like we were given one of the worst rooms available. The hotel charges for parking, yet requires guests to sign a waiver stating they are not responsible for any damage or theft involving your vehicle. Charging guests for parking while disclaiming all responsibility is difficult to understand. They also charge a resort fee but prohibit guests from bringing their own food or drinks to enjoy at the pool or the beachside tables. Paying extra resort fees while being restricted from enjoying your own refreshments makes very little sense. The room itself was outdated and poorly maintained. The door squeaked loudly every time it was opened or closed, the toilet had flushing problems, the shower had visible mold, and the old wall-mounted air conditioner blew directly onto the bed, making it noisy and uncomfortable to sleep. Overall, this hotel feels more focused on collecting extra fees than providing a quality guest experience. Between the misleading beachfront marketing, poor room condition, restrictive policies, and unfriendly service, this stay was a huge disappointment. I regret booking here and would never stay at Plunge Beach Resort again.

Plus the restaurants were better quality and friendlier than the ones down by the pier. Yes, our room was a little worn, but all hotels are. A great place to stay within Lauderdale by the sea!…read more Came to Fort Lauderdale for a wedding and stumbled across this beautiful Lauderdale by the sea Hotel. This is one of the newest if not the only newest hotel in the area in sometime. The staff was phenomenal, especially Trika?and gave grade a service. The rooms themselves were very comfortable and accommodating and had a four star look and feel. A couple of the great notes was the Friday happy hour hosted by the hotel owner as well as the poolside for relaxation. They also have good $15 a night parking which is rare and they had plenty of spaces. Overall, I would definitely come back here and stay with no qualms. One other great note is it's very walkable to nearby restaurants and just two blocks from the beach. I would LOVE to stay here again!

We felt completely safe walking around from the beach to the motel. I contacted Angela directly on the phone and through email. We only needed a room for one night after our cruise and mentioned we would be arriving rather early. She mentioned that we could leave our luggage there if the room wasn't ready yet. We arrived around 10:30 am and our standard room ($65/night) was ready! It had two double beds, a full size refrigerator, microwave, toaster, and coffee maker. They also offered free WiFi, you just need to get the password from Angela. She even offered her laptop if we needed to check in for our flights. We were interested in doing an everglades tour and Angela called the company herself to see if they had any openings left. She also suggested bus routes and water taxi options when we told her what restaurants we were interested in going to. Overall, the place was very clean, simple and basic. There were ample towels provided, but no shampoo. It's a nice alternative than staying on the beach in one of those expensive hotels. When we checked out around 11 am, we had to walk a couple of blocks to hail a cab. I'm sure we could have called for one.

Everything is quite old but well kept for the most part. Things that aren't perfect are broken bugs nets, broken bath stopper, windows not staying open. The kitchen is super small and there is no dishwasher. Also some units are right by A1A which has heavy traffic, so make sure to take hear plugs. You may ask: why 4 stars. Well 2 reasons: the price and location. Price are low for the area, you are a block away from the beach, plenty of bars and restaurants, but also Publix. I removed one star because the WiFi isn't working. There is WiFi connection but the internet connection is either super slow or not working depending on the time of the day. This is unacceptable in 2024.

It didn't have a cookie cutter Marriott vibe, with ridiculous rules. That was until our last visit. Apparently they have a new pool/beach management company. This has increased beach rental fees which wasn't our issue. While it's pretty crappy to offer beach front property without offering beach chairs, that is common among other hotels. This wasn't the old Lago Mar but they've joined the ranks of other hotels and ruined their vibe. The main issues started when we left our tubes at our chairs and came back to three of them gone. I looked around and noticed a staff member deflate and throw a different tube (not ours) away. When I asked where ours were they pretended to not know about it. They found one but not the other two until I asked them to empty the trash can full of tubes. Ours were in there, with ten others they had popped intentionally and threw away. They said we had been warned, which wasn't the case. They lied about doing it and told me to talk to the front desk if I was unhappy. The front desk reassured us that the pool manager would make it right. It was three days of bs with the manager of this company (which they now outsource) who refused to make it right. They offered a complimentary beach chair. All I wanted was a $50 credit to cover the cost of the three inflatables. The hotel manager got involved and credited the value of the tubes but this was after three days of drama. They apologized profusely, but when you outsource key staff, you're responsible for their actions. According to the new pool company, pool floats and tubes are not allowed and this is strictly, albeit inconsistently enforced. We used tubes for the first three days and never heard a single thing. While ours were destroyed, there were literally three women floating in tubes in the pool. While the hotel says this has been their policy forever, and it is noted on a sign, this has never been enforced. Up until recently, their own gift shop sold floats, even when the sign said it wasn't allowed. They also even blew them up for you at the hut. Now I'd be fine if they said they weren't allowed and were enforcing it. But to never say the tubes are an issue, wait until we walk away, take them, pop them and then lie about it is absurd. It ruined the vibe of the trip. What is the point of a family pool if families can't float in a tube and chill out? There is an adults only pool that can easily be a tube free environment. Furthermore, as a guest, if I had taken anyones property, damaged it, threw it away and lied about it, I'd be held accountable. It's a real shame because we love everything else about this resort. The bar staff, Kelly, Chuck and Mitch are amazing. I can't say enough about how wonderful they are. The cleaning crew works their butts off, the hotel staff have always been accommodating. I can't say that we'll return as a family as long as this pool company is outsourced. I noted quite a few recent reviews that said things had changed and wished it wasn't true. But it was. This place held nothing but amazing family memories for us until this time. I hope changes are made and it returns to the low key resort we all loved.

The decorations inside were like old floridian style. It had so many little detail everywhere. I liked it. The massage rooms felt comfortable. The tables were heated. I liked the services provided. The staff seemed to know their stuff. I found the front desk staff helpful. I was glad I came. The property has a couple of restaurants towards the back and a coffee shop.

Pulling in to park my heart sank. The pool is 10 steps from the main road. My ideas of relaxing by the pool vanished. We talked to Mark on the drive over and he said the office would be closed when we arrived at 7 but our room would be unlocked and the key inside. I thought that seemed like a security issue but figured they must have done this before. There are security cameras there. Arriving after a 4 hour drive we found our room surprisingly locked. We called on the exterior office phone and were told 10 minutes someone will let you in. After waiting 30 minutes on the darkened patio an older woman wobbled over to us and barked '102!!!??!' She was assisted by a younger woman luckily, because she seemed , ahem, impaired. She was babbling on about air freshener in the office when all we wanted was to get in our room. The price of our room did not reflect the king luxury room I was hoping for. It was very clean and semi updated but furnished with what seemed like mismatchy thrift store finds. I loved the 1950s tile in the bath but not the older towels. The bed was reasonably comfortable but there was so much road noise it made sleeping difficult. The kitchenette was very cute but not necessary on our trip. Some reviews I read complain about the noise of the wall air conditioning. I was happy it was cold and was masking some of the road noise. Except for the Harleys and giant trucks passing by. That being said, the manager Mark was very sweet. He offered us a restaurant gift card for our trouble on check in. If you can get a good rate on your room and don't mind no frills, this place is very conveniently located. Walking distance to the beach, shopping and restaurants.
