A good mixture between modern/chic/hygge - giving you the comfy feels in a warm yet updated environment. The aesthetician was also wonderful - professional, very precise and gentle with my hands and feet, and cognizant of health & hygiene (wearing a mask to protect against nail polish fumes). You could also choose your nail shape (round, square, almond, etc) and your nail color from a swatch of approx. 30+ different colors. You could even choose 2 colors - one for hands and one for feet (I stuck to one for sake of continuity and simplicity). I've been here twice now in three months for shellac mani-pedis. The first time, it was with a group of four women, prepping for a wedding. INS was great for a group! We had comfy seats all together in a row, and the place was super classy and spacious. I loved the 'embellishment' I chose - they turned my nails into Cat's eyes. Tonight was my second time visiting and I had a different technician, but still had a perfect mani-pedi. This time I did an accent nail, and I loved it again. Very smooth finish, no mistakes. INS Studio has a beautiful interior. Lots of grey and white and silver. And with the soft music in the background, including my fave Leonard Cohen, I was so relaxed at times that I closed my eyes! Came here with a girlfriend, she had gotten groupons for us both, it was a great deal. And only $10 more for gel nails. The actual place is gorgeous, clean and uncluttered. The pedicure chairs are really comfortable. The foot/leg massage was really nice. I do have some mixed feelings about this place though. I have ingrown toenails and usually when I get a pedicure they notice immediately and ask if I want to have them trimmed and shaped. This did not happen at all here. Also I usually get my heels worked on a lot because I have a lot of dead skin and hard heels. Again they didn't work very hard on my heels. The whole experience seems to be much more about the nail colour than the actual pedicure. So far I'm really happy with my gel nails. The had some neat cat eye colours. I think I'd come back for my hprobably not for my feet. Update: Well it's only been 5 days and my shellac nails have already started to chip. Very disappointing. I usually have these type of nails last for at least 2-4 weeks. I don't think I'd come back here now. read more

INS has been advertising on Groupon for the last few weeks, so I was surprised when we arrived for our appointment that the whole place was completely dead. It was extremely difficult to reach the salon to make an appointment, as nobody ever answered the phone and the voicemail was full. The salon itself is very beautiful, with updated fixtures and a nice layout, but with it being on Whyte Ave, parking is a little bit of a hassle. My biggest complaint with INS Studio is the practices. Three of us had manicures and pedicures, and our polish was applied patchy and sheer in places. My friends had regular polish applied, and the polish is already peeling off two days later. I had shellac done, and I was asked to pay $20 for removal of my old polish. The shellac was done very uneven and is once again, patchy and sheer in places. The manicures did not include any massage or even lotion. I had one problem in particular with the shellac polish used on my fingers. The sample I liked was actually painted with white nail polish first (but my fingers were not) so the polish came out significantly different than I had expected. The esthetician did a few coats and asked me what I thought, and I was honest (it was sheer and patchy and looked terrible). It seemed to be a big ordeal until a new staff member came over and simply just applied a very thick amount of polish to my nail to make it more opaque (which still resulted in patchy application). The tools appear to be autoclaved, which is nice peace of mind, but during the pedicures, my esthetician used nail clippers to trim off skin from my heel. A proper callous shaver wasn't used, nor a pumice stone or any other proper equipment to remove excess dead skin (just a sponge). Overall, it was a very lacklustre process. I like to use Groupon to find new businesses to visit on a regular basis, but this was one huge disappointment that I will stay far away from. I paid $59 for a shellac manicure and pedicure from groupon, an extra $10 to upgrade for shellac polish on my feet - and then another $20 for polish removal. My entire visit cost me $89 plus tax and tip, and it was definitely not worth it. read more

Worst pedicure & manicure I have ever experienced! The tech had injured my toe with a scraper and I'm still limping after three days. She was very rough with the cuticle pusher to the point of where my bleeding wouldn't stop. Then she kept attempting to keep working on my injured toe despite me telling her to leave it alone. Then I realized after a while that she applying "cakey" nail polish to my toes. I asked her to remove it & apply a polish that was smooth. Someone who appeared to be the Mgr came over & offered to have shellac applied at no extra charge. It took two hours to have her finish the horrible pedicure. At this point I had to go add more money to the parking meter, limping! Arrived back & was informed that someone else was going to take care of my shellac manicure. The manicure wasn't a very good experience either except this time I wasn't injured, thank goodness! Nice enough young girl but horrible job. I commented several times that she wasn't cleaning up the cuticles & she just ignored me. Finally, I just tolerated it as I was exhausted, my toe was throbbing & I couldn't wait to get out of there! I purchased this through Groupon & had this been a good experience I would have become a regular. Parking is expensive too. Especially since it takes them more than double the time most salons take. I will never go back & absolutely do not recommend this establishment. read more

My friend and I came to this studio for a manicure and pedicure. It was the worst absolute experience I've ever had. First of all it was horrible trying to make an appointment. Then as soon as we got there the staff were immediately rude. Our pedicures and manicures actually hurt they were manhandling us so much. We didn't get any lotion or massage or anything with either of them. The tools and tub were disgustingly dirty. There was even rust on the nail clippers. They only used a sponge and our feet actually feel worse than they were before we got the pedicure done. The table where we had our manicures was filthy. The staff didn't say a word to us the whole time we were there, they just spoke to each other in another language. All the tools were disgusting. The polish application was spotty and inconsistent. Half of my nails weren't even painted and they filed off my nice beautiful nails completely. When I contacted the owner to let her know she was extremely rude and claimed her place is so clean and they provide premium services. Don't go here unless you want to catch a disease from their unclean establishment. read more

Best manicure I've had in Edmonton Samantha (regular polish that just kept lasting) and Vivian awesome gel nails tech. They are both great! Most wonderful facial I've had ever and Samantha did it! She is calming and informative, she manages the overload here well. She takes pride in this place and it shows through the work they all do. This place may look dead, as I read in previous yelp review, but I think it's due to scheduling people appropriately, to keep it quite to unwind for intimate pampering time, I'm sure. It's comforting here, beautiful and makes you feel you're getting away from the daily grind stepping into a high life. It's expensive but It's worth the quality of pampered chill time. Probably the worst booking experience I've ever had. Like the other reviews have said, they simply do not answer their calls or make appointments. I tried calling after I got my Groupon, no answer. No worries, I work nearby. I show up, I book an appointment, I leave. Two days later I get an (barely audible) voicemail on my cell phone. I can't make it out with the volume maxed on a brand new phone. There's something about my booking not being available? Okay... I call back. No answer. I leave a voicemail. It's been six business hours with no call back, so whatever, I walk over. I need to catch a bus in 15 min and the lady won't serve me until she finishes her client's manicure which is rude but whatever. She finishes and comes over, I mention I need to book another appointment (this is their mistake, mind you). She keeps pointing at the girl who's nails she did saying "her first". This client who got her nails done is on her phone, across the room, taking her time, getting her coat, etc and I've been waiting for 10 minutes and am about to miss my bus. They wouldn't book me again even though I had my details, type of massage, groupon voucher, and date (no specific time) ready to go. They called me 20 hours later to book me. At this point it had been days and multiple visits and phone calls to get an appointment after they made a mistake originally. My experience was so shady. I wonder if it's a scam so they can pocket the money from Groupon without having to do the work? I got a refund from Groupon, if you booked with them I would suggest you do the same. read more

Purchased through Groupon as a present from my husband. I was really looking forward to it (I'm 7.5 months pregnant). I've had such a difficult time reaching the salon to book an appointment, I was finally able to get ahold of them after trying numerous times for a week straight; the phone would simply just ring, no voicemail. The location isn't ideal for parking, and I was very confused on the entrance of the building(there were a few different doors to enter that had different addresses, the INS salon address on their website and the address on the door were NOT the same; the entry door with the INS address had a "For Lease" sign slapped on the door, so I tried a different door that had another address on it, come to find INS at the top of the stairs to the right). Anyone that has an issue with mobility, this location is NOT for you. The spa pedicure with leg mask was very basic. She let me feet soak for a few mins, removed the polish, pushed back and cut my cuticles... which I absolutely fear.. she cut my cuticle so deep on my big toe that it wouldn't stop bleeding.. she then doctored it for a good 15 mins (I got grossed out as she applied ointment straight from the tube onto my bloodied toe, and the tube touched my cut). Yes, how many others have she touched with the same tip of the tube on their injury.. disgusting.. My toe bled the whole time, and it's still caked with blood hours after, and very tender. Now the actual pedicure it's self was very BASIC to say the lease.. After she spent what seemed like forever trying to stop my toe from bleeding, which still bled as I was leaving, she slapped some lotion on my feet and legs, massaged each for about 4 mins.... Wait, what ever happened to spa pedicure? It was literally a foot/leg massage for 8 mins total. My feet are so dry, she didn't use the pumice or scrape them at all... anyways, after that, she put the leg mask aka "lotion" on my legs, I paid 10 dollars to upgrade to shellac.. she painted my toes, wiped my leg mask away and that was it.. a very expensive 4 min leg/foot rub(with injury).. Wouldn't recommend it at all.. ***Edit I forgot the lovely Christmas tree that they still have up, even though it's June, and it was bare lol.. it wasn't lovely at all; the deflated balloons that just say on the floor from what looked to be at least 2 weeks old. But the best part was their huge uncomfortable oversized chairs, not even pedicure chairs.. I'm 5'1 and had the stretch my legs uncomfortably the whole pedicure.. save yourself, and make the same mistake I did; seek else where. read more

Great location right on Whyte Ave. Beautifully appointed studio, loved the ambiance. The girls were very friendly. I got a regular mani and kudos to their technique, because my polish lasted for 2 WEEKS! And I put a lot of daily wear and tear on my hands at work. There are cheaper area salons, but this is a good example that you get what you pay for. My only issue is that it takes a few attempts to get someone on the phone to book an appointment. Had such a great pedicure today! I booked ahead through email they were super accommodating to the time and date we wanted. The spa is beautifully decorated and very clean. We both had gel pedicures and they were so well done, also a lot of colour choices. They told us if you book a group they will offer a complimentary high tea! They offer so many services and they seemed really skilled and also so friendly! I will be back here for sure. My next visit wasn't so great, I had to lower the stars unfortunately, I booked an appointment online and when I showed up she questioned me about how I made my appointment because she had taken that option off of the online booking. There was no apology or request to see if I could come In another time just sort of shortness and a goodbye we can't get you in. I don't think I'll be back because of this! read more

A friend and i purchased a groupon for a spa pedicure. Unfortunately it didn't feel like a spa treatment at all. They didn't do a good job on the pedicure at all. They talked among themselves in a different language, which is personally one of my biggest pet peeves. But the thing that ticked me off the most was that two costumers showed up after us and even though they had four pedicure stations available they told us to move to the "waiting area" chairs and we just sat their for 20 minutes uncomfortably until our toes were dry. I'm not sure why they moved us or why we couldn't sit in the other two chairs while drying our toes. Just overall a poor experience. I purchased a groupon for a signature pedicure (basic pedicure). The ambiance of this salon is lovely. It is beautifully decorated, clean, quiet, and relaxing. The staff were very nice and friendly. Everything about the pedicure was generally fine except I found the massage to be rather lacking. It was very brief and not much of a massage at all (the best part of a pedi, IMHO!). The pedi took just over half an hour. The regular price for the signature pedi is $69 and if I had paid that I would have been very disappointed and would probably be leaving 2 stars. I would equate the style and length of this pedi to what you would get at Vo's - not what I would expect for $69. For that reason I probably won't be back as I don't feel that I got value for the price. read more

This place is super cute, clean and convenient! Located on Whyte ave, above Block 1912, it may be a bit hard to see at first but once you find the door to the left of Block 1912 it is the first business to the right at the top of the stairs. As soon as we entered the space we were greeted and given little white slippers and a beverage of choice (coffee, tea or coke). We were asked to sit in the lounge area and only waited a few minutes before the nail techs were ready. They have a smaller colour selection for regular nails (about 55 choices), then what they offer for gel nails but there is something for everyone. They have chosen their colours well. Additionally, if you do opt for gel nails, they display the colours in a beautiful nail book that made me wish I had opted for gel. I got a manicure and a pedicure and I have to say that the result of the pedicure is one of the best that I have had. It was done perfectly and three days later is still looks perfect. The nail tech that did my pedicure was very informative and was able to tell me about the history of the salon and the other spa services that they offer. I will definitely be returning to this little gem. read more

I received a Groupon gift for a 60 minute hot stone massage for my birthday. I called and made an appointment. two days before my appointment ins studio called me and had to reschedule because the therapist was apparently going to an interview for that whole day. I agreed to reschedule for a week later. the day before my next scheduled appointment I recieved a text message from the manager of ins studio stating they needed to reschedule me, AGAIN, due to plumbing issues. I was getting annoyed but agreed to reschedule. today I drove all the way down to Whyte Ave, searched and paid for parking, only to go there and be told that the manager forgot to a schedule me in and no one was on site to give me my massage. I even offered to get a different treatment but was told I couldn't. this is suppose to be their grand opening.... they will be closing soon if this is how they treat their clients. i give them zero stars read more

I have only done massage there. The mani-pedi side seemed very nice. But do not do massage there, the room looks like one of those police interrogation places and not friendly at all! The oils snelled so bad! I couldnt wait to go home and shower. Usually after my massages, i love leaving oil on my skin. Also, every 15 min, there was a big noise of water flowing, so not relaxing and the woman who did my massage almost didnt put any pressure. Such a waste of my money and time. read more

I was offered a shellac pedicure for an extra $10 which I chose to do since I was wearing uggs. The service was great and I really enjoyed my pedicure and manicure, however it has only been one week and my shellac is lifting off all my fingernails. It's super disappointing because I really liked the studio and my manicurist but my nails only looked nice for a couple days afterwards. Not sure if she just didn't seal the edges enough or what but I have very short nails so they should have lasted a bit longer than a week. read more
