Arrived in town late and wanted to grab a pizza at the old La Perla Romana. But the business was closed permanently and insense replaced it.
The smell of the wood fired oven sealed it for me.
Hospitable and Excellent Service.
A great drinks menu. A few rare ones. Sir, cassis. YES! And a spritz.
House salad and frites. Very good. This has the possibility of being a memorable meal. The setting sun over the Mediterranean sure helps.
Adjacent table meal arrived. Beef medallions for her. Steak for him. Looked amazing. Especially the presentation of the medallions.
But I came for the wood fired pizza.... And that's where it all unraveled.
I ordered the For Seasons. White ham, mushrooms and artichokes. I got a different pizza instead. But hey! It also looked good. Was not about to send a perfectly good pizza back.
Waitress recommended spicy olive oil to enhance. Sure. Bring it.
The crust is reminiscent of the supermarket bake at home pizza. You know the ones. Bummer.
Not a hint of wood smokiness. WHAT HAPPENED???
Added the spicy olive oil on one slice. Rancid. ICK! The bottle of olive oil is full to the brim. But ugh!!!!
Few slices. Full belly. Enough.
Take away? No thank you. read more
