As for golf and other amenities I cannot comment. The facility is easy to find, especially if you are familiar with the area. There is ample parking. The walk down to the lakeside location of the ceremony was rather steep-- but guests could be dropped off there and the hosts provided rides back up to the clubhouse for the reception. The clubhouse where the reception was held is typical of thousands of small town country clubs across the nation, but very good for its genre. The bartenders were professional and could mix all the requisite drinks. The spacious deck was perfect for socializing before dinner. Waiters provided appetizers that were fairly tasty even though I believe they were previously frozen commercial products. As far as wedding reception dinners go (and as a pastor I've been at over 100 fried chicken receptions) this was pretty good even though it was far from spectacular. The steak was well done, the fish (probably a haddock or cod loin) was moist and topped with a squirt of ranch dressing, the mashed potatoes were adequately seasoned, and the best thing on the plate were the fresh green beans that were not over cooked. I am assuming that everything was prepared by the house staff and not an outside catering service -- that would change my review but I don't expect to be privy to that information. For me, this is the second best venue for a wedding reception in our community (though I'm sure there are others that I've not been to yet). As second best I have to give it one star less than the other venue, thus three. (Search my reviews to locate the other review.) That said, it was a perfectly fine event for what it was.

A multi million dollar renovation several years back has elevated this course to an elite status. We've hosted the WSGA State open several times. Stricker won the last one here in 2000 in a very tight match on the 18th hole. Talk is it'll be back soon. Last year we held a USGA Senior Open qualifier to rave reviews. No player broke par. I asked about 30 players about the course and everyone of them congratulated us on the conditions and fair and challenging layout. Ride or not. It is a nine hole course that can be played back to back for 18. No major water hazards, but the woods will keep anybody, but a straight driver, searching. One of my favorite features, however is the clubhouse. Yes there is a pro shop and you can get some basic refreshments but what you MUST do after your game is sit in one of the many rocking chairs that bedeck the wrap around porch, marvel at the decades of markings in the old wooden floor from years of spikes trodding on them and enjoy the spectacular view of plum lake!

Some nice ladies in a closed restaurant directed me to the golf course country club. Advising I don't have to be a member and the food is great as it usually is at golf courses. The club is charming with a narrow road that looks to be the original except paved over leading to a couple of ample parking lots. The dining area was empty and the manager friendly as he explained the two specials and gave me a menu. There is a full bar and a small selection of items for dining. The special was $7 and has to be the bargain of the area. Plenty of chicken wings, coleslaw and potato salad. There is Wi Fi but not for me as this northern Wi., region has limited service from phone companies. There are other items on the menu I'd like to try such as the Milwaukee Brat. But that will be a future trip.

The staff was amazing to work with. The course was beautiful and the service exceptional from Andrew. He assisted in helping us get this event off the ground as we had never planned an outing before. We both had the thick cut New York strip, with grilled asparagus and roasted baby red potatoes. I'm going to place my meal here in the top five best meals I have ever had. Everything was cooked perfectly. But the steak, that was hands down the best part; high quality cut of meat that lived up to the thick cut menu description, seasoned and cooked perfectly with almost no fat. The steak came with caramelized sautéed mushrooms and onions that were a wonderful compliment. The asparagus was nicely grilled with great flavor and a good crunch, something that I loved because I hate mushy over cooked asparagus. The baby red potatoes were also perfectly cooked and seasoned. I have an extremely high appreciation for the culinary industry and the art that goes in to quality food, and the meal I had here today clearly presented the strong passion of the Chef who prepared it.
