After having viewed three other senior communities, I knew as soon as we walked into Revel that this would be my home. It was bright, welcoming and energetic. We were provided a tour of the building, an explanation of the provisions and a free lunch! As a retiree on a fixed income, I happily learned that the cost to live at Revel with all its amenities was less than I was paying living alone. Transportation, twice-weekly happy hours, games, activities, daily special meals, planned outings, holiday and birthday celebrations, karaoke evenings and weekly apartment cleaning are included. Additionally, the maintenance staff is responsive and timely when a resident has a need or request as are the administrative and culinary staffs. Often times you will wait one hour after ordering your food to get it, and then more often it is ice cold. Add it to that, it often tastes disgusting. There are residents here, but that belong in memory care or in a nursing home. There are residents here that are a danger to the other residents and even though we report them to the powers that be, nothing is done. I am happy to be saying I'm moving out of this place because I can and also because the price is way too high for the services that I use. Carefully research the place you are looking for to live in for yourself or a loved one. Walk in at different times of the day. Try to experience the food and the dining experience for yourself more than just once. Talk to the residents and ask a lot of questions. I would not recommend living here. They didn't give me time to look for another place and asked me to pay double the cost of care. I've asked them several times to explain what services will be getting, but they haven't done it for days and they haven't shared any data of my family and physician's report either. They don't even know who the current doctor is, and they don't update the legal documents I provided properly. It's a mess. Most of the staff here are friendly, but it seems like they don't communicate with the directors who are a mess. Also, the security was really bad. One day I found out that they had not been paying attention to the visitor records for a while. When I asked to see the visitor records on the check-in computer, they said that no one knew how to find the records on the computer. It took over a month for it to be available, which meant that they let strangers come see my family and that they didn't care if there was danger or something bad going on. The computer at the front desk was just a decoration to advertise that they have 24 hour security. I strongly advise against leaving your loved one in such a facility.
