Love Dr. John, very kind and patient, seems genuinelly concerned , with a calming way about him, and doesn't rush you out the door. I have been bringing my family member here for years. I have never met the other doctors, but I can definitely vouch for him. The office could use some updating, but my main concern is my family's well being. Also we have had to cancel a couple times last minute and even accidentally missed an appointment they were very understanding and didn't charge us even though it is policy as with most Dr's offices. Also have called in prescriptions without having to come in on more than one occasion We actually look forward to seeing Dr. John and I can't say that for most Doctors. This review is not a reflection on the doctors. I have been going to different psychiatrists for over a decade and am aware that offices don't always get back to you in a timely manner. That being said, I should not have to call a machine and leave my details FOUR separate times throughout a week to receive a refill on medication. On the fifth call I tried to have my psychiatrist paged by a woman named Randy. She refused stating that not having my medication was not an emergency. Now, according to the recorded answering service, you call 911 for emergencies. Given that logic I should have been able to have my doctor paged. I did call back and spoke to a supervisor who said she would page him. I never received a call back. I see this office as a malpractice suit waiting to happen. When you're dealing with medications you sometimes have someone's life on the line and I wouldn't trust my life in the hands of office staff who cannot or refuse to take psychiatric medicine seriously. read more

Dr. Scavo was awful. She was rude and condescending. I have had a few counselors and my degree is in the field. She is not professional. She was useless and downright dismissive. She made crude remarks and laughed off my concerns about a family member. I was shocked. I cancelled future appointments right away. I'm truly at a loss for why she would continue in this career without empathy or tact. read more

This place is a complete joke! Save your money and go to a real professional place. The doctors are good, but not the worth the stress you get from the front desk staff. They don't know how to schedule and put you down for the wrong times and expect a payment and won't show you a bill. I had a 5:30 appointment and was told my appointment was at 1:30 and was turned away. I have my appointment card that even says my appointment was at 5:30. This place has gone downhill, after having to switch drs because mine left, I was told I can only see this one dr and she was not good at all totally against what the other dr was doing which I liked then try getting a hold of the office is almost impossible and called 5 times to cancel an appointment left multiple voicemails saying I couldn't make it , they never returned my call and then charged me $100 for cancelling. Yes right, what crooks. Then every other month they gave you fill out an a assessment thing on an iPad and ask you about your treatments and other things and charge you outrageous for that which is the same thing you talk to the dr about, this place is not good and they don't care it's just take these pills or let me look it up read more

I was displeased overall. I liked the doctor I was seeing; she seemed to genuinely care. However, I have issues with their billing and office policies. When I first started going there, my insurance card stated I owed a co-pay. The office insisted I owed nothing and refused to take money from me. Came back a few times then was told that I owed a balance from my first visit and couldn't see the doctor until I paid it. It was only $20 but I was never told about it any of the times I was there nor did I receive a single bill in the mail from them. Very inefficient way of collecting money if you ask me. When I called two days ago stating I was experiencing severe panic attacks and needed to be seen that same day if possible, I was basically turned away. I was told that my doctor was not in so I'd have to wait until Monday (3 days later). I asked if I could see another doctor from the office. I was told no and that they don't allow "provider hopping." I have never heard that response from any doctor's office ever. That's literally one of the best reasons to pick an office with more than more doctor. If one is off or called away for an emergency the other doctor(s) in the office can pick up the slack. They did say they would send my doctor a message to call me. I never received a call but recieved a letter a few weeks later saying my rates were going up. read more

I highly recommend IPD!! I have been a patient with IPD in Morris for about 7 years now and always get treated with respect by my doctor and the girls at the front desk. When I had a death in the family and had to cancel my appointment my doctor called me at home that evening to check on me and spent about 15 minutes on the phone with me and didn't charge me a dime for the call. I feel I've made a lot of progress since I've been going here and they always make me feel comfortable. Very knowledgable, kind, and courteous!! read more

I went to the Ottawa, IL office. I made a follow up appt with for the doctor I had seen previously, and when I showed up in Ottawa, I was told the doctor was now in a Chicago office. I made another appt with a doctor for the next day. I was given samples of a medicine and a prescription was called into the pharmacy. My insurance denied this medicine, and notified the doctor. I called IPD 9 times over a 5 day period trying to find out my next steps since my samples were running out. I ran out and so my meds were stopped abruptly. I had a appt 4 days later and was given more samples and a different medicine was called in. This was questioned by my insurance and the doctor was notified. To this day I have not heard from IPD. I DO NOT recommend this business. read more

My Husband came in and the treatment plan was the same as his Primary had suggested. We were disappointed as Insurance did not cover this visit and to spend over $400.00 dollars for a visit that, to me could of just been seen at a Primary care office without the hefty extra cost of a "Psych" visit. I guess we expected a better plan as these are Psych DRs who the Primary suggested he see. So that was disappointing and he never felt the need to go back as they had him on the same treatment plan his Primary already had him on. Well we made a partial payment of this over $400.00 dollar bill ... the payment was sent back to us, they refused to take it, sent us to collections. They would not communicate with us. Collections wanted it in full. We then get a letter that they will sue if not paid in full. We said we tried to send them a partial payment and they refused it. They said no, you owe us in full or they will follow to sue.. I NEVER had a DR., office not willing to work with a patient on paying a bill. Partial is always better then nothing. I cannot believe how we were treated over a bill we were trying to make partial payment on. In the end it costed over $900.00 for a $400.00 bill with all the fees they added on. We asked if they would remove the fees and they refused. They wanted this ridiculous FULL AMOUNT or we be sued with a JUDGMENT on our credit. WE PAID THIS IN FULL SO WE DID NOT GET SUED!!!! BUT totally unacceptable. Especially they are a Dr.s office dealing with MENTAL HEALTH PATIENTS. These patients cant even always hold down a job, and they are going to threaten with a lawsuit over a medical bill that people were trying to pay something on. UNACCEPTABLE!!!! I feel sorry for Mental Health patients in this Country .... bad enough insurance doesn't cover these Drs but then to have a very rude office that doesn't work with patients trying to make ends meet and gouge them in the end over a bill!!! They don't care about the patients in the end of the day... that's what they showed me because you don't treat patients this way and gouge them for even more money, this did NOT need to go to collections of for us to be threatened to be sued over... we were trying to make partial payments. read more

No reflection on the doctors. My doctor is great. I agree with most of the reviews on this board.The support staff is much to be desired. You are lucky if you can even get in touch with anyone on the phone. Return calls take 3 or more days if you get one. I have also had bumerous issues with the Billing Department about being overcharged. The woman I spoke with was so rude and hung up on me! I was $25.00 behind because I had a problem with my SSDI check and needed my medicine. They would not let me talk to my doctor or ley mehave an appointment until I paid. Needless to say I became very ill. Normally I would try and find another doctor but I live in a small town and doctors are hard to come by so I am sort of stuck unless I want to drive 50 miles which is impossible because I can no longer drive die to a massive stroke. read more

This place is a dump! They are group of poorly organized professionals, who just have inflated self esteem and no knowledge to share. The employees are poorly paid and extremely dissatisfied. Being a patient of theirs has quickly told me to run from this practice. Dr.Z is just there to basically charge you for a supplements that you don't need and to run unnecessary tests that make this practice accumulate millions of dollars. They have multiple locations and guess how they got there, by stealing your and my money. They are heavy on prescribing folks and that's NOT way to live. Be aware the next time you make an appointment with them and what exactly are you paying for? Ask yourself for once, am I really getting better or they have me locked in for years? read more

Two phone calls and one visit. The counselor appears to be a good fit to our personality and easy to talk to. The Intake staff is polite, nice and helpful. One of the reception staff appears as if talking to us or having to get up to make a copy is really troubling for her, we are a burden. Recent call to ensure a form is prepared and available for Monday (this is Friday), the receptionist's voice and sigh was again as if we are burdening the office. read more

I have been a patient of IPD in both the Morris and Romeoville locations since I started to address my mental health condition in 2005. I found it very unsettling when I started going to an outpatient psychiatric office because I did not know what to expect and I felt like "no one would ever understand." The first couple months of appointments were difficult, as it is very much a process of "trial and error" in the beginning. This includes going to therapy and being assessed and trying a different medication or a combination. They are being "tweaked" to offer the most relief from symptoms and, along the way, allow for the most accurate diagnosis and treatment plan for the individual. After I was able to understand and accept that some visits may go well and some not so well, it was easier to acknowledge that, yes, even the behavioral health professionals may have days that are more difficult than others. With that being said, I have had a significantly higher amount of positive interactions with staff in opposition to negative interactions. I will say that I have utilized a couple different therapists to try various therapies. Each has his or her own strengths and unique qualities, which has allowed me to integrate acceptance and grow fond of the various specialties of interest and ways to maintain a therapeutic approach, etc. My attending psychiatrist has helped me immensely, in the sense that he has worked with me very diligently. Specifically, medication management has been extremely effective to help my symptoms that exist with my diagnosis and I have been able to communicate my symptoms, questions, and concerns and have them addressed in a very timely and therapeutic manner. My psychiatrist has often taken the time to actively engage in conversations during my medication management appointments to ensure he sees the whole picture of my current status with stability (mentally, socially, with daily activities, etc.). I have had a handful of urgent situations in which I was and still am extremely appreciative of the prompt response to a page to my doctor and/or a phone call to the outpatient office to explain my current situation at the time and then be fit into the schedule or touch base with my team over the phone to assist and guide me with the next step to alleviate a variety of situations/concerns. Going to a behavioral health professional can be scary and uncomfortable simply due to the trivial concept of asking for help in a very busy, fast-paced world. Vulnerability and anxiety can be heightened, especially when seeking out help for something like mental health. One may already feel very sad, upset, angry, hopeless, helpless, and vulnerable. With heightened emotions, it can be very difficult to accept that, at times, it IS okay to ask for help. IPD has helped me understand this concept over some of the most difficult years of my life. I would wholeheartedly recommend IPD to those who are wanting to address a difficult state in his or her life. It is very much a "team approach," in the sense that I have learned that I can now trust that my team at IPD will be my biggest advocates. It does not mean things are always easy; it simply means that I can face both the joys and struggles of life with a positive support system. My team (psychiatrist and psychologist) have been there for me, in both the good decisions and other decisions I have made that have been difficult, but allowed for growth within myself. This has fostered my ability to become more self-aware and I could not have done it on my own. With the empathy and ability to trust the professionals at IPD, I have learned to appreciate life a little bit more, day by day. My mental health does not have to define me anymore because I can now choose to define myself by my progress and ability to overcome the challenges with the coping skills I have learned and have become a part of me. Challenges will continue to surface in life; however, I now understand that I have a choice as to how I want to face the challenge and I will be able to rely on those at IPD to help facilitate my growth every step of the way. read more
