I made the mistake of blindly choosing an insurance agent this way assuming they would all be the same. A mistake. I went to his office to consult with him because I hate conducting business like this over the phone. While waiting in his grungy uncomfortable office i started thinking the place could really use a good cleaning, there was a spider web on the chair next to mine and dust bunnies everywhere. I was 15 mins early for the appointment and waited over 35 mins past the start time. Total time of 50mins waiting and I could see straight into his office where he was eating an early lunch at 11:00am by himself and texting or playing on his phone the whole time (not talking on it). I was about to leave when the receptionist, bless her heart went and "reminded" him I was waiting. She lead me to his door and the first thing he did was introduce himself, ask my name, and ask what I was there for(no apology for the wait). When I told him I was first looking to clear up some questions I had about different kinds of policies, he stopped me and told me "Im really sorry I dont have a lot of time right now, I have a meeting out of office and need to get going here shortly. I could leave you with one of my associates to answer your questions or point you to some good information online before I leave." He said this as if we did not have an appointment and I had just walked in off the streets. Im a rather passive person so I told him I would just look it up online and left. I have never been so offended by a business owner in my life. I guess Rick Young wants you to do all the work yourself so he can just collect the commission. I do owe thanks to Rick though because without him I would never have found my new agent who is amazing. Maybe this was a fluke (doubt it) but I could never recommend this business to anyone. Ever.

So we have been working with Brandon and Hartland Insurance for over 25 years. Currently, when Brendon was looking up policies for my new policies, he decided to see if he could find a better deal for my parents, too, and started a quote in case they wanted to look into it. He found a plan that could save them hundreds a year and it's a better policy than the one that they have now. Everyone that I have worked with at the company is friendly and helpful. None of them try to pressure me, and it's like talking with a friend or family member who is looking out for my best interests. I had a commercial policy for a few years because I was delivering with DoorDash for a few years, but since I've stopped, I wanted to switch back to a regular policy to save money. So I have dealt with a few different agents, and they're all wonderful people! Brendan says that he can't always guarantee a cheaper rate. But he will work hard at finding you a good value and a good policy. He's honest, and he enjoys what he does, and it shows.

I was going through a transitional time in my life and had a few questions regarding taking clinical classes out of state to further my profession. The classes were over $10,000 and I wanted to know if and how it would impact my taxes. The older white male employee who was going to do my taxes seemed highly irritated at my questions and also suspicious. I admit I was not dressed professionally and had probably just got out of my garden, but I'm paying him, so I wasn't concerned. I've got no shame in my game and was multitasking that day. He went on to ask me about my son who had turned 18 that prior year and if he was in college. Currently he wasn't in college. But, he had went to community college for 1 semester the year prior and decided it wasn't for him. The mans reaction was so offensive, rolling his eyes and shaking his head and asking me if I had proof. Since my son was already 18 and he's my first child I had no idea I needed to take his documents. I told him I could get the info and return if it was necessary, but questioned why it would be necessary since I wasn't claiming my son. I honestly wasn't as concerned with 1 term of community college as I was about my expensive 10,000 clinical. My son was working and doing his own taxes anyway. From this jerks reaction I flat out asked him, "Do you think I'm lying?!!!!". He said, YES! I was SO INSULTED!!!!! Who has such low opinions of people that they question 1 term of community college with such contempt! Absurd behavior. I highly doubt he would have treated another man this way. Needless to say I left at once. This mans behavior was strange and classless. Beware of him. I had my taxes prepared here a year before this episode that was adequate. But, the chance of ever encountering this jerk again no way! I'd rather have a root canal.
