Melody, the boss, does the tax returns, but is assisted by the accountants (who are likely CPAs by now) who also happen to be family, or soon-to-be-family. When you walk in, the first person you'll see might be her husband/office manager. Numbers Crunchers is thorough, delivers the work when promised, and because it's a small business, will only accept a certain number of clients in order to be certain to deliver the best service. Like most things in NC, Numbers Crunchers is higher in price than its counterparts from other states in my experience, but compared with other tax preparers in the area, Numbers Crunchers pricing is reasonable and there won't be any hidden charges for the basic tax returns.

Elona Duell, the agent/broker, answered the phone and the conversation started out nicely. I told her about our business and explained that I was trying to get a quote on cargo insurance and in less than 3 minutes she told me that we should get cargo insurance with our current insurance company, because it would be more expensive to do it separately. Since I already knew that getting insurance with our current company was an option,, I explained again that I was looking for a couple of quotes from different companies, just to weigh our options, so if she could give me a quote that would be great. She then proceeded to talk to me in "insurance" lingo and said it wouldn't make sense to get cargo insurance separately from our current insurance carrier. After asking her a third time for a quote she said, with attitude, "probably $1800 to $2500 annually, with 30% down or something like that." If you want someone to give you information without a condescending attitude and trying to count your money, then I would suggest that you NOT call Elona at Insurance Direct!! To this day it is a tragedy I haven't healed from. The agent suddenly stopped communication denying coverage. After all of this, I could not be covered by any homeowners insurance bc my home burned down by no fault of mine. I purchased this home at 19 years old. USDA RHD loan based upon my income. Payment was never to exceed 426.00 goes to 766.00. home goes into foreclosure. Not processing due to COVID-19 shut down according to agent in foreclosure department. I have not received any correspondence since COVID-19 shut down. Turns out I am still in foreclosure. My home was never inspected because of the COVID 19 shutdown. Only pictures were sent. It is 2024 and my home is crumbling. Unfinished floor, back mold, holes that you can internally see to the outside. Spider waterbug and cockroach infestation. I I've in fear always. Neighbor townhouse next door has a leaking roof along with years of deterioration. When I call Kristie Wilson at the ocal USDA SMITHFIELD NC OFFICE I get zero help other than I am in foreclosure. I mowed the grass at 27 s Sussex drive until I no longer had a mower. I knew the lady that lives there had an anurysm which left the home vacant. They are good at taking your money, but not so good at helping you out when the time comes. For instance, I've got a roof with hail damage. The first adjuster was so rude, I had to ask for another one to finish the work... they can't come to 11 days now. This is just typical of how they are these days. I'd suggest shopping around before getting home insurance. I'd definitely pass on these guys.
