I liked the selection here. The beef sticks were really good. I also ordered a few different cheeses. We bought the strawberry rhubarb pie which was delicious. The frozen cranberry relish was not a favorite. It has a spice we couldn't place but was quite strong. This is an amazing shop!!! We stopped here for lunch and it was phenomenal!!! Their home made chicken salad wrap was to die for. As was the potato brisket soup. So full of brisket and flavor. But not overly. Super simple and delicious. The hot dried beef on their raisin bun was wonderful!! The staff was awesome! And the food was amazing!!! Love the little meat counter that they have. We got some wonderful cheeses here as well as some wonderful beef jerky and some of the heavenly chicken salad!! This place is a local gem and we will definitely be back!!! read more

Interesting little spot. Worth popping in. Don't get the grinder. That was nothing like any grinder I'd ever had before. I'm sure they had some good options but we didn't stay around to try them. I was working nearby and a local recommended that I check out this place (or more specifically, Opa's, the deli inside the meat market) for lunch. First of all, what an ADORABLE town. I had no idea there was a tiny Dutch town in Iowa! That alone was worth a visit. The walk around town is super cute. The meat market is well worth a detour from wherever you're going. If I wasn't flying straight home I would have bought some meat and local cheese to take home. They also have lots of pickled veggies, jams, Dutch snacks and groceries. I got the special sandwich, which was a spiced meat sandwich with cheeses on them. It was DELISH. This place is well worth a visit! read more

My first trip to Pella for anything other then RAGBRIA rolling thru. Don't remember that trip as well as I did this one. Our first stop was for lunch at the famous In't Veld meat market and deli. what a wonderful shop. Ring bologna, meat sticks, jerky it all looked great and I wanted one of everything. The little lady and I decided to order lunch before we grabbed anything at the meat counter. She had the ring bologna with smoked Gouda and I had the Ruben. Hers looked great and she did't talk while we ate so I'm guessing it was good. It had a huge chunk of Gouda and it looked delicious. The Rubin wasn't the best I've ever eaten, but not the worst either. The bread was soft not toasted and the the cheese was processed. The sandwich size was definitely lunched sized. The potato salad was very good and I really like the relish that was stirred in. Tasted like it was made in house. On to the meat counter, WOW!! I'm a big fan of tube meat. Hot dogs, ring bologna, polish sausage, meat sticks, you get the point. We sampled the jerky and it was really good. I didn't pick any up this visit. I did however pick up ring bologna and some Jalapeno meat stick. The meat stick weren't hot like I like them, but they did have a bite. They were a little on the wet side I prefer the dryer version, nothing sitting in the fridge a few day won't care of. Now that the wife's new job will take her to Pella from time to time, I'll be coming back for those lovely tubed meats. read more

Some of the best brunch/lunch in Pella. A fabulous, retro meat market with quick order and pickup of sandwiches, wraps, sides, and more! Very Dutch down to the Pella bologna! Grab your food and head upstairs for a great seat with a view over the meat confer and out the window onto the sidewalk. Such a quaint little place, and a classic stop for many locals. Prices are decent. Not the cheapest in town, but you can get a good lunch for under $10. Can't really beat that for some fresh meat market cuts! Make sure to grab a ring of Pella bologna on your way out. Or, try some homemade dips and dressings for sale. Some really great options here. Really a step above your typical Hy-Vee or Fareway meat counter. read more

And they had cheese curds and their version of Bologna (blah) sitting out for sampling, too. It was a definite disservice to call that product curds or bologna; they were amazingly fresh and tasty. Traditional butcher shop/deli-style restaurant. Recent renovation seems to look good. It's a well-kept secret that this is the best sandwich place in Pella. Huge portions and high quality meats. I brought my deer in there for the first time last year. Always a gamble when bringing your deer to a new locker. Their brats are phenomenal, and their bologna (seems to be their "specialty"... though it looks more like salami to me) has been great for sandwich meat. Brought in 4 quarters for de-boning and processing this year and am gonna stick with the brats and bologna, but I will be trying their hot pepper sticks as well. If going there, don't forget to tell them to add cheese and hot peppers to your meat. Had previously made the drive and brought my deer to Edgewood locker in NE Iowa. IMO, this place is as good, if not better. read more
