He takes the time to get to know each of his patients and to understand their daily struggles dealing with chronic pain. I recently met with Doug Uyeda for an initial evaluation. I had, for over 4 months, a relentless pain from my waist, down by buttocks and leg, which then caused a very sore and weak knee. After 1.25 hours with Doug, that muscle pain was gone. I slept like I was on a cloud for the first time in months that night. I came home with exercises, and one week later, still no pain. I realize doctors can treat patients however they want, but patients can tell each other their stories and, if after a certain critical amount of communication has been reached, those doctors that mistreat patients will find themselves patient-less. Please share your experiences, both good and bad, so that other know what kind of treatment is normal. For those seeking a suboxone prescription, do not come here. Firstly, it costs $210 per appointment and they do a UA every time. You have to get three clean UA's before you are allowed to make monthly appointments and you are never allowed to make to appointments every three months. You can find other doctors that will charge you ~200 for the first visit and then ~100 for subsequent appointments. You can also find doctors that will prescribe you medication in three month intervals. Other doctors do not make you come back every two weeks for a couple months either (3 clean UA's = 4 appointments since the UA is read after you make your next appointment and, at this office, you are not allowed to make your own appointments). The high number of UA's didn't bother me until events occurred that I am about to describe, but, just to put things in perspective, methadone clinics do fewer UA per person than Dr. Horn's office. Since other doctors rarely do UA's (at least the one's I've seen), I began to feel I my $210 was for the UA's since I only saw the doctor or PA for 5 minutes. Also, they will not trust you to make an appointment in two weeks or a month: the doctor or PA fills out a form for you to take the receptionist that states when your next appointment is! That's right: they don't trust you to even make your own appointments. Secondly, do not come here for suboxone because of the way you are treated. Dr. Horn and staff assumed I was using illegal drugs even though every UA of mine came out clean. I wasn't just asked if I had relapsed: I was harassed about how they thought I had subverted the UA. I was threatened with expulsion from the program without even given a warning. I insisted they witness the UA and was still accused of tampering with the UA even after they repeatedly declined to make sure it was not tampered with. Furthermore, only once did I receive a formal warning (for no reason though other than they thought I was lying); in fact I was told that three such warnings would caused me to be expelled from the program. Then, one week before my next appointment to refill my medication, I was expelled from the program (after being given only one warning). So basically they cut me off for no reason when I had almost no medication left. I called to (hopefully) straighten things out until I could find another doctor only to be told "sorry" and hung up on. Thirdly, do not come here for suboxone because, if you come here, you will never get off. I have been taking suboxone for 5 years; it saved my life, but I don't want to take it forever. My last doctor encouraged me to decrease my dose when I was ready and, over the past several years, I had decreased my dose from 16 mg to 2 mg per day. Enter Dr Horn and staff: every visit they encouraged me to increase my dose. When I told them I wanted (to continue) to decrease my dose, the atmosphere in the room changed: frowns replaced smiles and the interrogation began. "So, you have been self medicating for 5 years?" (yeah, they accused my old doctor of promoting self medication), "By what day do you want to stop?" (this is a moot question because no one knows exactly how they will feel after decreasing their dose), "Are you ready for life?" (this was just insulting) etc- and yes, I was asked those specific questions and others, but I don't remember them. They were angry that I wanted to CONTINUE to reduce my medicine. It was horrible: that conversation hurt me a lot. Why didn't I give them the lowest rating? Maybe such contemptuous treatment would be beneficial for some people; I suppose you know who you are if that's for you. Also, for the most part my discussions with Dr. Horn were pleasant and face to face it seemed like he cared; it was only after our discussions and through other staff members would his thoughts and decisions be revealed. And honestly I really liked the place after my first visit: everyone was charming and pleasant; I'll bet non-suboxone patients are treated very well there. Please, if you have complaints about this office write them in a review, I would love to hear if others were treated as poorly as I was treated. PS Watch out for the guy at the front desk: he treats you differently if you don't have insurance. He would not even tell the staff I had arrived until I payed and this was after I had been going there for months and was in the process of paying. What was really strange was that he didn't use to treat me like that and I saw others who didn't have insurance sign in and then pay. It was insulting. read more

When I arrived at PMO they were a godsend. Eventually the CEO became very Nazi-esque, even firing the favorite counselor, a woman who really kept me going. The staff at first were extremely kind, and they had a good weekly group. I watched as many employees that were liked mysteriously disappeared, and others just seemed terrified. I had a single "dirty" UA after several months of attendance done with the cheap Wal Mart UAs, and was cut off cold turkey from 16mg a day, and they didn't even take it to the lab to confirm. The recent place I discovered found 2 dirty UAs for benzos and after sent to the lab, they were proven FALSE. I was denied a re-test for a month, denied any meds, pushing me to street drugs, which luckily I was able to keep myself from returning to despite forced withdrawal from Suboxone. I was finally scheduled to take my redeeming UA and see my wonderful counselor on a Monday. I first found out she was fired over the weekend with no given or possibly sensible reason, but I watched patients leave the office due to this. My UA was clean, but the new cold demeanored nurse came after wasting hours of waiting and commuting that she didn't know why I was scheduled to come back because none of the doctors were "comfortable seeing me" because I was on other psych meds that their office had been prescribing me along with Suboxone for so many months, and they were all of a sudden scared what the cross-effects could be. This was a total joke because most addicts have accompanying mental illnesses. In fact, I met two in the lobby, and people on their 2nd and 3rd dirty UA that were still being treated, albeit given warnings, but not tortured. All remaining doctors either left or were fired. The vibe of the new PMO is very cold and threatening. A generic office where recovering addicts are treated like suspicious scum. So many places like this already existed, the only good thing about this place was that it took state health care, but still treated it's patients well and humanely. Not anymore though. Keep expectations very low. I also have a service dog, which obviously bothered one or two staffers, that aided their decision in making a fake second chance and throwing me out cold turkey with cold hearts. This place sucks. read more
