This is not a good program. The staff here gave me a journal and told me that as part of my…read moretreatment, I should journal my thoughts freely and that they were private and would never be read. One time, staff were suspicious of me. Instead of asking me what was going on, they stole my journal from my backpack, read it and shared it with every staff and therapist, and then gave it to my mom to read. This is a complete HIPAA violation. I never got my journal back. My therapist also shared my personal trauma and the things we talked about in therapy with all of the other clients in a group setting (once again a HIPAA violation). There were many other issues involving HIPAA violations with this therapist (who was also the head therapist, in charge of everyone else) and when the other clients agreed with me that this was not okay, i was accused of "inciting a riot" (even though no one was rioting). My therapist lied to me on several occasions, leading to severe trust issues. It is now extremely hard for me to talk about my trauma or trust any therapists or counselors. One example of my therapist lying to me: "Tell me if [specific thing I was working on in therapy] happened or not so that we can work through it together and you can have support. I will not tell your mom." (I then told her what she wanted to know) "Well, I will be telling your mom." This was not anything involving me harming myself or others, so she legally was not allowed to tell anyone. This program made me scared and mistrusting of programs and therapists in the future who were trying to help me.
