So initially I was a bit skeptical to be referred to Shoreline Physical Therapy (Core Physical Therapy) up by the Shoreline - Edmonds city limits. But I knew my sports medicine physician wanted to give me the convenience of a location proximate to both home and work. I wanted my mobility back, so best to give it a try. My first appointment was back in mid April, I had to come a bit earlier to complete several forms, deal with the copay, and then was thoroughly evaluated by Dustin Steffan, DPT. I appreciate the emailed appointment reminders and the helpful front desk staff during check-ins. These are big plusses when you have a hectic work schedule. They also have other staff members that work in tandem, so your sessions are focused and have continuity. My only negative experience was with some massage therapist who was a bit brusque when I was trying to change in one of the rooms, coming straight from work and dealing with the joys of I-5 traffic.Thankfully, a PT session/workout for me is stress reduction. Key thing was the direct and ongoing dialogue of what activities I wanted to return to, the requisite exercises, proper form, icing/taping/massage routine, and explanations of the actual physiology of my specific case. This wasn't going to magically happen, actual dedicated work was required to meet my goals. It was also good to see other individuals at this site make progress from their medical issues, like post-op knee replacement. Their location has a variety of equipment onsite that are utilized based on your specific needs. Staff also provide support items and printouts to use at home in between appointments. This coming week will be my ninth and tenth appointments and I can say that I have made significant progress. Not 100% there yet, but I've been able to build up core strength, reduce swelling, improve pain management, and regain increased flexibility. Earlier this morning I completed the Susan G Komen 5K, a personal best, after years of various challenges. To reach that accomplishment, I have to thank Dustin and his colleagues at Shoreline Physical Therapy for helping me attain that milestone.
