I've been coming to Saddleback since it's formation down in Lake Forest many, many years ago…read more Having moved to the South Bay, I was eager for a local church to call home and was oh-so-relieved when Saddleback came to the South Bay! The church family is fantastic, people are incredibly friendly and the messages relevant. Some have commented about it being weird that the sermon is broadcast on a screen and that can be done at home and while technically true, you definitely do not get the sense of community that you do when visiting a campus... and especially this campus. I've never been to another place where one feels so wanted and welcome, as here. The pastoral staff is fantastic, the worship is great, the other members are welcoming -- it's just a great place to be. If you're even considering the notion of coming to church, you'll feel welcome here. We're proud to express that we don't have it all together and that we're all still figuring things out. While watching the sermon on the screen may not be traditional, you'll quickly look past that once you realize that it's the relationships which will draw you back. We hope to see you there - you are welcome!

I don't do small groups…read more Then I met this young, strapping man who looked like he took a break from an Elite model runway who asked me repeatedly to join the LACG small group at Cafe Mak in classy Koreatown. Hesitant, I attended reluctantly. After a couple months, it became a blessing, pleasure, with delightful surprises, healthy accountability, and joyful laughter. It was a weekly event that I was looking forward to like a boy awaiting the release of a great video game. The community group's main theme? Jobs. Why? It's because they're either soul-crushing or a symbol of our personal goals and desires. So far, our prayers were all answered. That's right. Drop your jaw in disbelief. But careers don't define us. They are timely examples of His grace and love for our minds and souls to relax and use our workspace and our self-esteem to help, love, and pray for those who don't know God. Back to LACG! Most of us have grown incredibly close. I've seen friends leave due to jobs and/or distance. I've witnessed some of us fall in love who will also flee in the near future. New and old faces come and go but the thread of the small group remains intact. Spiritual growth is relational. You can't grow spiritually alone-- it is impossible. The group keeps us humble, open, honest, and brave. I believe we've all become better listeners except for a couple of us who still need practice on focusing and being prompt. Miracles are welcome. Pastor Tim and Pastor Daniel have discovered themes and messages that apply to our lives in the modern world with familiar scenarios of conflict with others, individual sins or addictions, emotional flaws, and understanding God's word without being righteous ourselves. I love how concise, direct, and significant the sermons are that don't drone or repeat themselves. You should know that church is the people. We go to church because we're dirty. Not because we're clean. I'm the dirtiest by the way. "We cannot change unless our love exceeds our fear."

It's time I've edited and updated my review…read more I've had the privilege to be at this church since the beginning. And these past 3 years, since the church's inception, have been amazing. People have come and gone...and come back again! The church has been on the verge of closing, but now it's truly in a season of growth. SBMC is not a perfect church, but it is a place in which gospel-centered community is truly evident. As opposed to programs and specific ministries, we try to do LIFE together. It's hard, but it's joyous struggle as we seek to disciple one another and grow in our faith in Jesus. Hebrews 10:24-25: "And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near." ***To whoever is seeking, there are also plenty of great churches in the South Bay and God's universal church isn't confined to a building or a single congregation. Hope you find a church community where you can serve and grow.***

You don't just hear the Word--you see it lived out. There's a deep, genuine love for Christ here that isn't performative--it's real, and you feel it the second you walk through the doors. What stands out most is the people. This is a community that truly loves Jesus and reflects the fruits of the Spirit in how they show up for one another. There's a genuine desire to see lives transformed--people are healed, restored, and stepping into who they're called to be. The children's ministry, led by Pastor Rick, is something special. They don't just "watch" your kids--they pour into them, teaching them how to be the hands and feet of Jesus right where they are. Youth Pastor Dan is equipping the teens in a powerful way, grounding them in truth and helping them live out their faith boldly. And the young adults ministry, led by Pastor Eric, is on fire--passionate about God and committed to seeing the South Bay experience real breakthrough. If you're looking for a place where you'll be challenged, loved, and equipped to walk in the freedom Jesus died for--this is it.

We are fans of Christian rock and we are so impressed by the talent and passion of the musicians. We can't help but feel the spirit and sing, dance and sometimes cry along. 2) The kids program is the best in the Westside. There is a four story kids building on the campus and the teachers make it fun with games, video Biblical stories, crafts and meaningful write-ups for children to engage. 3) The church is very welcoming. Every Sunday, new members are encouraged to register and connect. The church then invites you to a welcome lunch with the pastor and to join a small group or topic based event / prgoram. We just signed up for a 3 month Sacred Marriage Group. One of the volunteers also took us for a tour of the church and campus on our first visit, and there is coffee available for the community. After the music portion, you are asked to greet and get to know someone new next to you. It's very sweet and Community oriented. 4) The sermons are action-oriented and based in biblical stories and teachings. We are given a way to reflect and take action each week, which is a nice way to absorb the learnings from the sermon. I do like the Biblical readings and translations and would love even more of this because I feel the Biblical teachings ground us in the source substance and weight. We look forward to experiencing more and are grateful to have found a gentle and spiritual home for our family

Finally--a real biblical church that doesn't shut down or back down: CHRISTIAN WARRIORS, rise up at…read moreRestoration Life Christian Church! In this messed-up world getting darker every day, without Christians shining as the light, nobody sees real hope or truth. Jesus said it straight: "You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden... let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven" (Matthew 5:14-16). We're called to be salt and light--not sitting quiet, but bold. Christianity ain't just some peaceful religion; we serve a God who's a warrior for justice. "The Lord is a warrior; the Lord is His name" (Exodus 15:3). We fight spiritual battles, not flesh and blood (Ephesians 6:12), and we're geared up to stand firm. Life is sacred from the jump--pro-life is straight Bible. God forms us in the womb: "For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother's womb... Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me" (Psalm 139:13-16). He hates innocent blood shed (Proverbs 6:16-17), and tells us to rescue those headed to death (Proverbs 24:11-12). Restoration Life Christian Church is a blazing light right here in Los Angeles--modern Sodom--refusing to bow to the darkness. Shoutout to the warriors there proclaiming truth unashamed! Who's standing with them? #ChristianWarriors #ProLife #BiblicalTruth
