We found that experienced eye in Jamie Roddy of EdenLA located in Manhattan Beach, CA When you hire an Interior Designer, what are your expectations? Do you want to give them some guidelines, get them to know you and then have them come up with recommendations? Or, do you want to work alongside of them in a collaborative manner? Jamie is equally good at either approach. In our case, we liked to collaborate with her in real time. My wife and I would sit with her in her studio in front of a big screen monitor. We would surf the web pulling together the furniture, materials, colors and accents that we all agreed upon. In some cases, she gently "guided" to consider things that on our own we might not have done. Now that we see those decisions in place, we're glad we were gently pushed to expand our thinking about what we wanted. You may not have the time to spend the time like that, but we did and we loved the outcome of the process.

Ana came up with a beautiful design and we couldn't be happier with the results. She really helped guide us and worked with us to help our vision come to life. She was patient with my indecisiveness but helped us keep our project moving. We're out of their usual location range and couldn't work with their contractors, so I think because of that some of the communication was challenging between designer and contractor. (It seems like they work pretty seamlessly with Builder Boy!) So while that was challenging at times, the end result is one I know I couldn't have done without Ana's skilled eye and access to beautiful materials I didn't even know existed.
