This is a non-profit agency that works with both the special needs populations of adults and children. I have only experience in the children's section of this company and I know the people here work their rear ends off trying to help kids deal with a variety of issues. Using positive behavioral approaches that are all scientifically based, the staff at this company put their all into formulating teams called Child Family Teams (CFT) where everyone involved with the child has a say in helping making the child or client's life better. ICHD works with numerous other resource companies and community based programs spanning the individual needs of each client and their family. ICHD offers programs in both the client's home, school, after school, and even office based setting to work on a variety of difficult problems the client may face. Sadly, due to the economic crunch, several program have long waiting lists, but ICHD tries its best to fill the need for families on these waiting lists for more intensive program. ICHD Has several of their own programs, such as group homes, intensive in home programs, habilitation programs, and in office groups. Many of these clients who come to ICHD have had failures in other programs, so the people here work with the more challenging of kids and never seem to back down, believing in the client, the clients ability to make choices in their own lives, the power of positive reinforcement, support of both family and community, and overall the power of change.
