I have many years experience in home maintenance, rehab and working with investors. After finding myself disabled in a car accident I moved to doing home inspections. The InterNACHI courses were great to fill in the gaps and to help me learn areas I didn't know or know as well. The test have been challenging in some areas, and things I have done a lot of were pretty simple just because of the experience. What a great program... able to take the experience you have and supplement it with live broadcasts, a forum that you can get answered quickly about specific problems, online written resources and training videos to learn or brush up on areas. Even cooler is that they have test designed to make sure you know what you are doing. My car accident left me unable to work and homeless with medical bills. My boy and I built ourselves back up using my experience and InterNACHI's educationa and help. Do not trust InterNACHI's marketed "Code of Ethics" or "Duty to the Public." When a certified member committed severe boundary violations at my home on June 23, 2026--arriving 48 minutes early without consent, refusing a lawful order to leave (trespass), and leaving my windows completely unlocked--InterNACHI executive leadership explicitly defended the behavior. When I reported this safety risk, InterNACHI (nick@reports-inc.com) emailed me this exact response: "Inspectors in our industry generally arrive early and do the exterior. If you signed a sales agreement with an inspection rider, you cannot "revoke permission to remain on the property." Your buyer is now an owner-in-equity of your home (even before closing) and you are now merely a caretaker until closing. And you can't unilaterally revoke permission to inspect." This is a dangerous, predatory, and legally false interpretation of property rights. Under California law, a signed purchase agreement does not strip a deed holder of their right to control who is on their property, nor does it allow a third-party vendor to commit civil trespass. InterNACHI actively invents fake legal theories to shield their inspectors from accountability when they compromise homeowner security. I wanted to express our concern regarding the inspection service we received. After visiting the property, we noticed few issues such as flooring problems and multiple patched/painted areas on the walls that were not included in your report. It appears that only the major items were listed, while many other details were missed. We were expecting a thorough post-inspection as part of the service, which is why we paid the $450 fee. Unfortunately, we do not feel the inspection was as detailed as expected.Just wasted money don't do inspection. read more

A friend just had a home inspection by Doug Gurganus with InerNachi, the worse inspection ever. She had brown color grout to match tile and inspector called that out. Along with no plug in tub, that's not a fix she just needs to buy a plug. He repeated things so it looked as if there were more items than there wrong. Wear on front of cabinets, oh my gosh, everyone has wear but her cabinets look great. So frustrating with inspectors who don't know how to do their job. The seller agreed to leave the new jacuzzi and the light didn't go on and the latch on cover wasn't locked and he called that out!! Beware buyers and sellers of this person. Oh am I going to enjoy writing this review & posting pics! Let me say, Nick, the owner (I'm assuming) actually emailed me and put in writing that our inspector "goofed"! Well what he goofed on was failing to find that the home was failing and about to collapse. (See my review of Buy Right Home Inspections) We have been dealing with Internachi for the last few months, trying to obtain any help/info from them regarding the home inspector who failed miserably inspecting our home; Nick originally stated, in writing, that he was "booting out" the home inspector in question, from the Internachi certification/club. After our attorney received no confirmation regarding this, I contacted Nick, only to hear he had changed his mind, told me to sue him & that others have tried before unsuccessfully, etc. Oh and it gets better, and so will this review when I have more time! We are getting everything ready to send to the local news here in California and in Colorado, so everyone can see what this home inspector "goofed" on, and how Internachi is just a bullshit company who will "certify" anyone who pays for one of their classes. Keep this company on your radar, as this clown thinks threatening us with a lawsuit for libel is going to stop us. Hoping to find others who have been screwed by this company, either directly or indirectly; private message me if you have. Will add to this review and post photos when I have more time. EVEN BETTER, we just received a letter in the mail from InterNACHI's legal dept, Mark Cohen; they are asking us to immediately withdraw our complaint against InterNACHI, & file against the home inspector. Wow these people are funny! I'll be posting photos of this letter in addition to pics of our home, on every public website I can find. There is no way we are letting InterNACHI or the home inspector get away with this. The fact Nick laughed & told us to sue him, as it's been unsuccessfully done previously, and then involves a lawyer? Well ok let's take this as far as we can. I'm sure his attorney is not fully aware of the entire situation, as I'm sure Nick did not show him the photos of our home. How InterNACHI can say one of their "certified home inspectors" goofed, when the home was deemed STRUCTURALLY UNSAFE by an engineer, is beyond normal thinking. You cannot "goof" in matter like this, nor blow it off as a goof. The home was about to collapse! I have 4 children to take care of, in addition to dealing with the shit above, so I'll continually add to my review as time allows. This is such a crazy matter, & I'll finish this review soon! And if InterNACHI and/or their attorney tries to have YELP wrongfully remove this review, well then we will include YELP in this matter. InterNACHI somehow had YELP remove a prior negative review, (see below under "not recommended reviews") and I'm curious as to why YELP removed it. Nick and anyone that holds his sham of a license cannot be trusted. I reached out to Nick because an Internachi licensed inspector stated, among other things, that the home I was selling had mold in the attic, a leaky toliet and structural issues. The buyer canceled the contract due to these issues. After hiring professionals in all of those fields, none of the professionals could find any of the issues. The Mold specialist issued me a report stating that the inspector mistook spackle for mold. And that there was not even any moisture in the attic. I reached out to Nick, as Internachi is whom the inspector stated as his credentials. I (wrongly) thought the company issuing a license might want to revoke or at least investigate how such mistakes could be made. I made mention in my email to Nick that I was considering civil action against this inspector. Rather than ask me anything about my problems, Nick continues to send nasty emails telling me I can't sue because I didn't hire the inspector. He has missed the point entirely, even though I've asked numbers times how he isn't concerned that his 'brand' is associated with someone who can't tell a common building substance from a deadly one. He has ignored my concerns, which has been the answer I needed. He's as bad as the worst inspector or contractor you see scamming people on TV. It's sad someone can run an organization with this lack of concern for consumers. I urge you not to trust anyone with a certification from this sham of a business. I pray that states get their act together to put their own regulations in place so guys like this are put out of business. read more

As far as training and authority on home inspections go, InterNACHI is by far the most advanced and educated in the industry. They provide more thorough training than the others. Their "live" training session is awesome and the trainers all have years and years of experience. They have literally constructed the "House of Horrors" with many defects so that they can train inspectors with real hands-on examples. They have actually done training for some of the other home inspector training associations such as ASHI. It's possible that the inspectors who were negatively reviewed here on Yelp did their jobs entirely correctly and that the buyer was under the incorrect understanding that the inspection should be technically exhaustive. Inspectors are only required to inspect what they can see without removing housing components or taking things apart. In addition, each inspector is typically his or her own entity and has the free will to do their own thing be it good or bad in terms of a home Inspection. With the InterNACHI Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice, an inspector trained by InterNACHI should not be doing incomplete or haphazard inspections. However, InterNACHI itself is not responsible for every inspector. In the end, blaming the institution who trains is like blaming the state for issuing a contractors license to a contractor who then goes on to do shoddy work. InterNACHI is an internationally recognized organization that has been around for more than 20 years. They provide a great service and being a member comes with many benefits. *For those who do not understand how Yelp reviews work what is written below are my opinions based on my experiences with this business.* Nick Gromicko with both Certified Master Inspectors (CMI) and InterNACHI give a false sense of security to consumers. CMI educates and certifies Home Inspectors but apparently there are no repercussions if one of their certified inspectors make mistakes, even huge mistakes. In my case the Home Inspector we hired made several huge over sights that cost us thousands of dollars. See my review of American Certified Home Inspections in Jacksonville FL. InterNACHI is basically suppose to set Standard of Practice and give insurance for the homeowner if the Home Inspector is a member and the the inspector screws up. This appears to be a complete scam giving consumers a false sense of security. InterNACHI doesn't even respond to formal complaints. Once pushed their responses are worthless in every way. It appears to me that they also encourage their inspectors to accuse people who complain of slander or liable. I see a review below that this happen to and this is what was pulled on me. Sadly, InterNACHI lobbies to relax licensing requirements at State level and is currently doing so in Ohio. Live and learn! I have learned to never do business with an inspector that is Certified by CMI or backed by InterNACHI. I highly suggest others steer clear as well unless you have thousands of dollars to spare on your home purchase. read more
