I live two hours away and I've chosen here despite the commute because there is no medical center near me that gives the treatment I need so I am, for lack of a better term, downright desperate. After having a prescription given to me almost a year ago, I have been calling for MONTHS to get it authorized by the doctor I saw and nothing productive has happened. Nothing. I've been hung up on twice before, I've been bounced between two offices multiple times to try and reschedule an appointment, I have stated the urgency of how I need what I am there for and still nothing has been done. My experience here has been disgustingly bad and I would urge anyone who is looking for this as a possibility to try other options because it is abhorrent how hard it is to get anything accomplished here. And this isn't even coming from just a solely outside view, I am in the medical field myself. I am extremely disappointed.

My doctor was great. No complaints there…read more My co-payment was $30. I paid it with a credit card (I tried to give them cash, but they don't accept it). Days later I had remembered I had a Health Savings Account debit card. I decided to call Billing, have them refund the $30 on my credit card and charge the HSA debit instead. The transaction seemed easy. Come to find out, they never refunded the $30 on my credit card, and instead of withdrawing $30 on my debit card, they withdrew $200. I've been calling and using the portal for two weeks - simply requesting Billing to call me. The folks on the portal said Billing would call, but they haven't. Two weeks of silence. My only recourse was to file a report with the Beverly Police Dept. They'll follow up with the NSPG or the Salem Court will. An abysmal experience. If anyone has Scott Sperling (Mass General Brigham, Chair) and/or Anne Klibanski (Mass General Brigham, CEO) contact info....please share it. I want them to know my experience.

I usually don't care for the way most doctors treat patients but Allara and Yoon are exceptional, they actually treat patients as patients not numbers. My wife and I have had horrible experiences with medical professionals but never have we had one complaint with Allara and Yoon. These guys understand that all patients are not the same. They understand that what is normal for one patient is not necessarily normal for another. They actually put some thought into your problems instead of just running down a check list. At one time I thought proper medical treatment was no existent North of Boston but after 25+ years of dealing with MFM Health I know that good health care can be found.

I feel compelled to write this review and warn the community after just completing an extremely…read morebizarre and unprofessional job interview process. I want to preface my review by explicitly stating that I fully understand MFM's mission of bringing accessible and coordinated care to the local setting. However, it appears as though MFM is expanding very rapidly and their operations cannot keep pace, which has downstream effects on both care quality and observable culture, which they are apparently trying to resolve through hiring instead of addressing the root causes of these issues. I applied for two positions at MFM Health. I will keep identifying details confidential to protect the privacy of those involved. For the first position I applied to, I was contacted by the hiring manager via a "Do Not Reply" email. She provided a phone number and asked me to call to set up an interview. I was unsure why the interview arrangements could not be worked out over email, but I nevertheless called the number only to find out that it was not a direct line. I called this number several times and was never able to reach the hiring manager despite a valiant attempt. Many negative reviews of this practice state it is difficult to contact staff by phone, I would say this assessment is accurate. When I was contacted about the second position, I was excited to find out that it was in a specialty department that I had several years of experience in on top of my 10+ years of relevant experience. One of the things I immediately noticed was that staff availability for interviews was limited, and, for the most part, they told you when you would be coming in. I understand that healthcare and volume are synonymous these days, but some flexibility would have been appreciated to allow me to prepare adequately. The screening interview was uneventful, but things became a bit strange during the in-person interview. As such, the supervising physician bluntly told me they are "very burned out" and cannot handle their patient load yet "they keep sending me more." I asked if any continuing education opportunities are offered and I was told no. This concerns me as organizations that do not invest in the growth and development of their staff typically experience high turnover and low morale. Despite these oddities, the hiring manager assured me that the team in fact, was impressed by my background and did appear to like me. However, the next day, I was abruptly informed that I would have to do another interview and was given only a day to prepare. Given that the staff had endorsed such strong feelings of burnout during the previous interview, I decided a morale boost may be appropriate. I purchased some healthy snacks and cold beverages and brought them to the second interview. I also included two handwritten and personalized thank-you cards for the clinical team. On the day of this next interview, I arrived with my snacks and drinks in tow. I was shown to the conference room where I set everything up. I was informed that the hiring manager would not be present for the meeting as the interview was scheduled last minute in the middle of their workday. Here is the crux of my review: I met with two stone-faced support staff members who made no attempts to reciprocate my efforts to engage with them. One staffer was engrossed in his laptop and barely participated. The other staffer asked me a handful of inappropriate questions with largely subjective answers that depended on training. After about ten minutes of awkward questioning, I was dismissed, without any expression of thanks for the snacks/drinks, which were left unopened and untouched on the table. There was no follow-up from the hiring manager. After the interview, I reached out to the hiring team to share some additional information about my background that we did not have time to cover in the interviews. I did not receive a response. Two days later, I received a rejection letter stating I was "not a strong enough candidate," despite having co-authored a paper in the field.

I would have given a five star review until Dr. Mancini terminated me (a 69 year old woman with…read moreunderlying conditions) as a patient during the pandemic without even the courtesy of a phone call. I was a long time patient of Dr. Mancini. It is a concierge practice and I paid for the care of a doctor. When she went on maternity leave I wished all the best for her. I was not happy to find that she hired a nurse practitioner to cover for her rather than a doctor. I had excruciating pain on my left side near my rib. I did get an in person appointment and she said I had a bruised rib. She said I could get an x-ray. She called to say the x-ray showed an enlarged spleen. I was concerned and saw the nurse practitioner who sent me to the emergency room "in case my spleen exploded or something." Luckily I went to the emergency room where I was diagnosed with Costochondritis - a muscle problem that causes extreme pain. This should have been obvious since I have chronic muscle pain. My chiropractor in NYC, bless him, knew exactly what it was and how I got it and has made the pain lessen considerable. I went back because the nurse practitioner wanted more blood tests. She called to tell me that something was high. I asked if I could call to discuss the blood tests. She said no. I decided to get a complete exam in NYC (I live in NYC and in MA). Turns out is normal for the spleen to enlarge slightly when the body is under stress as it is sending out more white cells. My bone density is good and all my pain is muscular. My heart is good. I have lost 40 lbs and gotten my sugar down from 11 to 7.5. Still have to get it to 6 - but you would think these would be things a medical practitioner would know and want to share with me. When I asked when Dr. Mancini was returning I was told August 17th. I got this e-mail from her. "Jan, It has been brought to my attention that you have been unsatisfied with the care you have received since my going on maternity leave and were upset by my taking maternity leave in general. I was also made aware that you were verbally abusive, using profanity, towards our office manager. For these reasons I feel it best you find an alternative primary care physician. I am sorry it has come to this, but I feel the doctor-patient relationship has been irreparably damaged. The date of termination is August 1, 2020. - Dr. Mancini No phone call. No response to my e-mail replies. I was unsatisfied with the care I was given because I was misdiagnosed and not given appropriate information. I never was upset by Dr. Mancini taking maternity leave - I wished her all the best. All women need maternity leave. I did use profanity. Walking - in excruciating pain - to the office - I was made to stand outside in the pouring rain when they knew I was there for over 10 minutes. When I came in I said, "No patient deserves to be treated like s**t. I am a human being." I have a Masters in Counseling degree and if a patient of mine who had always been friendly and responsible reacted that way I would view it clinically as a sign of extreme stress (which it was) and would have checked in to see if they were okay. I have been in other medical places during COVID-19 and strict protocols never involve patients being locked out in the rain. I would have lived with all of this because of COVID-19 but the fact that a doctor would terminate a 69 year old patient with medical problems during a pandemic without even the courtesy of a phone call is inexcusable. When I found Elitra Health in NYC I actually cried during my exam because it felt so good to finally have an intelligent, competent team of people caring for my health. Dr. Mancini also prescribed inappropriate medication but that is another story.

I signed up with Gold Direct Care after I heard about what Dr Gold was doing. I was drawn towards the idea of having a doctor who will spend as much time addressing my concerns as necessary. I have been pretty disappointed with 10 minute consultations with previous doctors who don't have time to listen and never really get down to the root of the problem. I got the feeling that they have to make a very quick decision and hope for the best. Try this, take that, come see me again in 6 months. I realized that I have to take my health seriously. Good health is one of the most precious things we have. I made a clear and conscious decision that I do not want to be part of the herd anymore. I wanted a doctor who I have access to. I wanted a doctor who truly cares and who knows me, and I wanted a doctor who had the time to do his job properly with my best interests at heart. I have been with Dr Gold since he started his Direct Primary Care practice, and I am completely satisfied. My first consultation was over an hour. I send him emails which he responds to right away. I have his cell number and I have 24 hour access if I should need it. (Not that I think I will, but it is a comforting thought.) I had a chronic health issue for quite some time, and nobody has been able to get it under control. With Dr Gold's care he had it taken care of within the first month. We spoke often and tried different prescriptions. He consulted with other specialists and before long had the whole situation under control and everything back to normal. I did not get kicked around from one specialist to another, from one test to the next. In the end it was his direct pragmatic approach that solved a complicated situation without having to send me in for a complete "refit". It is also a pleasure to work with him. He has a great sense of humor and a nice personality. It feels like you are talking to an old friend, which takes the anxiety out of visiting the doctor. If anyone is on the fence on whether this is a good fit for them, take it from me, you will definitely not be disappointed. If you take your health seriously, this is a smart investment. Investing in your health is investing in yourself and your future. Dr Gold practices modern medicine with a traditional approach. Everybody wins! I can't recommend it highly enough.

I believe they are all affiliated with Beverly Hospital and that network. They always call to remind me of my scheduled appointments the day before they occur, in case you need to reschedule, the staff is very quick at responding when you call with a question or need to get a referral or documents sent to a specialist, and they dont leave you waiting around forever. Scheduling physicals are a little annoying, as you cant get one immediately, the appointments are usually a few weeks to a month from when you call (unless you schedule one for a year from the day you come in for one. Although, if you are sick, they will see you immediately - the same day, unless you call late in the afternoon, then they will have you come in the next morning. My doctor is very good about checking in with me about my health, progress in weight loss, nutrition, or other concerns, and when i had my pap done, letting me know about various womens health solutions available (birth control etc). I recently had a medical emergency and the office consistently called me to make sure i was ok, and to follow up on appointments with specialists to see their diagnosis. It was not cumbersome or confusing since the staff always gave me referrals to doctors who accepted my health insurance and were local. I've seen patients of all ages here. If you need a new primary care physician who looks out for you and is great at giving you important health info (not simplistic, condescending statements), Family Medicine is a great office to go to.
