Security guard asks questions like name and if you have any weapons, then leads you inside. Metal detector then wait for your name to be called. They have a screen with window numbers and customer numbers, but it didn't seem to update. They just called my name and which window, like the DMV. The young lady at my window was terrific, very friendly and personable. I needed to change my address which you can't do online or over the phone. She seemed surprised that this could only be done in person. Yes, it doesn't make sense to me either, but probably for security? After updating my address, she offered to print out a current copy of my social security statement which was very helpful. Overall it only took about 15-20 minutes to get in and out. I definitely recommend making an appointment although I did it a month ago, so if you need something faster, you may just need to wait in the walk-in line.

This time wait 25 minutes. Another person picks up from A DIFFERENT OFFICE. I said I have to speak to someone at Long Beach. She said when they can't pick up they transfer it to a different office. She tried to help me get connected to Long Beach. Waited 40 minutes and someone picks up from THOUSAND OAKS. I said to this person it's ridiculous that Long Beach is transferring to other locations because other locations can't help. When you are told you have to speak with your local office, you have to speak with your local office. Just waisting the day being put on hold and resolving nothing. They need to go back to the old way. If it's too busy the recording will say call back and the call is disconnected. That will help everyone not waisting their time to talk to someone who can't help them because it's not your local office.

However, I think they re-opened the LAX location 1 week ago now. So double check into that. Location: Entrance door is located on LONG BEACH BLVD!! parked right in front of the parkig meter on Long Beach Blvd and in front of the building door. If you type the address they give, it'll take you to the Westin Hotel location and you'll have to walk around a bit. The security pointed to the 2nd elevators to go on and up to the 6th floor. There are multiple signs that directs you where the office is, so it's very easy to find. There are metered-parking surrounding the building on the 3 perimeters that I know of (on streets of Long Beach Blvd, Elm Ave, and 1st St....I'm not sure if Ocean Blvd has parking). FREE metered-parking before 9am!!!! But I read from other yelpers, it's $1 for 1 hour!?! I came a 3 min late and they called me before some other people who had an appointment at a later time, which is really nice. So I think depending on the officer that is helping you it may take between 15-30 min. During my interview, it took 30 min, but it was because we were just chatting and having a conversation. My interview was really relaxed, no pressure, he just asked where I had traveled and that was pretty much it. I didn't need the Conditional Letter, but I suggest you print it out just in case. Look online how to print it out, I had to look to see. It's under "Notifications" when you login to your account. you click on the Conditional Letter and you can print it. I brought my proof of residency too, but he didn't look at that either. ***but just bring the required stuff per stated on their website*** They fingerprinted me and took my picture, so make sure you look your photo best that day.

I came in to update my last name on my passport, and was in-and-out in around 15 minutes. I didn't have an appointment as you can't make one for my circumstance, but I came early and there was no line. There are four metered 24 min spots right in front, and if those are taken there's additional parking on 1st Street.

Two police…read moreofficers and a staff member gave me the wrong info and wrong directions to the assembly room. Making me late. Thanks yo. It's on the 4th floor. YOU'RE WELCOME. JUROR PARKING IS AT 101 Magnolia Ave. But no one tells you that. Not on the paperwork, not on the voice recording. You just have to figure that one out on your own while rushing to do your civil duty. Plus you better remember your license plate for parking. NO ONE TELLS YOU THAT EITHER. YOU'RE WELCOME. Lastly, you have to fill out the back of your jury duty paperwork. If not, they send you right to the back of the line. Time wasted - approximately 15 min. AGAIN YOU'RE WELCOME. OH AND DID I MENTION - someone hit my car too???? FML. JURY DUTY NIGHTMARE.

In for jury duty…read more Pros: Citizen paid for comfort better than most courhouses in the region (downey, compton, torrance), plenty of plugs in the jury waiting room and seating abound; a few tables if your trying to get work done while you serve your unpaid ($15 for 8 hours is not real pay) time there. Restrooms are clean, refrig, microwave available as well as speedy internet Judges are nice enough as are court staff, courtroom cops seem not so pleased to be doing the job though Cons: (antiquated structural issue with jury duty service) Having to drive beyond your living distance because as I was told they draw a straight line on a map and count mileage as a bird flies not what is actually within range of a courthouse. Judges DO NOT excuse for most reasons; no self employed people like us get to use the; i'm Loosing money while being as a reason (been to 2 jury service here several years and judges force you to attend). No consideration is given for your time and money lost while having to go there and deal with waiting for days to go through jury selection to either be forced onto a jury or rejected. *A simple at home phone questionaire or zoom video conference would solve this waste of peoples time for almost 20 people for multiple days but alas government doesn't function like a business must; in considering peoples time important. ProTips: 1. Parking structure (free but complicated to understand) for the jury, is on Pacific between Ocean and Broadway, when you park there, You MUST install the parking structure app on cell: needing phone/email/License plate number and a Credit Card entered even though you will get the parking for free after going into Jury service (they do not take cash in the structure). You'll need to scan the QR codes posted daily and then in the Jury room type your license number which is connected to only that parking structure for free parking; you'll get a notification Text saying the parking is paid. When you leave for the day; I believe camera's Read your license plate and the gate opens up automatically. 2. Bring a seat cousion, the seats in the jury room and in the hallways are wood and uncomfortable for sitting hours at a time 3. Most juries are called either by 9:30 am or after the lunch break which runs from 11:30am - 1:30pm. The entire building empties by 4:30pm 4. There are no TV's to mind numb your time while there to watch so you'll use your phone or bring a laptop/tablet to kill the day while you waste away.

I will say that I am quite glad that I kept my navigation on once I left the car because I was looking for a store front type business. This business is on the fourth floor of the building directly across the street from the Enterprise car rental (I feel safe entering that as a navigational aid because I rented cars from that location 9 years ago). Enter the voluminous lobby and head for the elevator and hit #4 (return to "L"). The room you want is #400. The staff was very professional and my 9:10 and 9:20 appointments were merged because TWIC cards and Pre-Check are now merged together on the TWIC card. One less step. THE PLAY BY PLAY: I arrived early, sat in a waiting room for a few minutes and was all done after an 8 minute processing time. Be sure to remember that they do not accept cash. NOTE: It literally has taken me longer to write this than to take care of my business at IdentoGo. No doubt a great job by the friendly, courteous staff. PARKING: For me parking was a breeze, as I got lucky and found a parking spot on the 100 block (there are only 4 parking spots -- across from the Green Onion Mexican Restaurant) and they are free for 2 hours from 8 A.M. to 6 P.M. Will definitely recommend this location to others in my industry.

I have a restraining order from Las Vegas, and after multiple violation reports (close to 12), I had to advocate for myself just to get a detective assigned. If I hadn't called to follow up, I never would have even had one. I've only spoken to the detective once, and while I understand restraining order violations can take time, the lack of communication and support has been discouraging. On another occasion, I was physically assaulted in broad daylight on Broadway and Hermosa while with my daughter. There were witnesses, video footage, and the man was arrested -- yet I've seen him twice since then. That experience left me shaken, and the fact that I've run into him again has only made me feel less safe. There is also a man downtown who frequently harasses people, including me. I witnessed him chasing people with scissors and threatening others. Despite being arrested, I've seen him several times since. When I called the police about him threatening me, the officer who responded (Officer Leraas) was dismissive, condescending, and made me feel like I was wasting his time. He even said, "I don't know why you call either," which made me feel even more unsafe. He also insinuated that I may have done something to deserve being assaulted, which was completely inappropriate and offensive -- no one deserves to be attacked, especially in front of their child. Even when I escalated my concerns to a sergeant, I was told that "both sides could have handled it better." But I am not the one in uniform, trained to deal with stressful situations -- the officers are. I expect professionalism, empathy, and at the very least, to feel that my concerns are being taken seriously. Instead, I feel like the LBPD does not prioritize public safety or the well-being of victims. It seems like crime is getting worse, and the way officers respond reflects poorly on the department. I understand they cannot always arrest someone on the spot, but they can absolutely make victims feel heard, respected, and protected. Sadly, that has not been my experience.
