We first met Dr. Modi at Presbyterian Denton, Texas when my husband was brought there with…read morerespiratory arrest. While I am still angry with the way things went on that day in the ER, how long it took them to realize they needed to perform emergency tracheotomy and not waste time trying to shove the tube in his throat searching for vocal cords - my husband came to and I made peace with the rest of ithe mess. The second time my husband was transferred to Presby Denton was when he had carotid bleeding. Through Dr. Modi, we met Dr. Suominen, the butcher. When Dr. Suominen offered carotid stenting, it sounded dangerous, but Dr. Suominen convinced us how good he was at it. I asked Dr. Modi if we should go to a bigger hospital, he said that my husband could start bleeding any time again and it's best we did it there. The bleeding at that time was under control for almost 8-9 hours, so they had a ton of time to transfer us, but they didn't. Dr. Modi states in his notes that he "offered" us to go to another facility. That's a lie. Maybe if he had really offered it, insisted on it, helped to speed it up and moved us to, as he calls it in his notes, a "higher level of care", the stenting would've been performed by more talented and prominent radiologists, and my wonderful husband would've been saved. They say they told us about the stroke possibility (or as they call it "small chance of stroke"), but nowhere does it say that the radiologist was going to be lousy and wreckless performing it without embolic protection. It just never crosses your mind to ask "are you going to use the filter?" Who knows about these things? You trust the doctors, you imagine they are doing everything in their power to keep you safe. Wrong! We found out from our insurance company that Texas Radiologists' claim was denied because of that. The procedure without distal embolic protection was called experimental, investigational and unproven. Dr. Modi introduced us to that butcher. Dr. Suominen and Dr. Modi knew that Presby Denton didn't have the resources, neurology department or stroke unit, should something happen, yet gambled with our lives anyway. Dr. Modi did nothing to move us to a bigger hospital for such dangerous procedure. To make even that worse, after they stroked my husband and rolled him back in the ICU, Dr. Modi, Dr. Suominen, Charlotte Write offered me tPA...yes, you read it right. I was so crushed and exhausted I couldn't think straight, but something didn't smell right and I refused. Later I found out from several doctors, UTSW and THFW, that tPA would've hemorrhaged my husband 100% as best case scenario or killed him as worst case scenario. The exact words of Dr. Fiesta were "What 4-hour window? You had NO window! Who told you about tPA? He just bled!" I play those words in my head over and over again. None of the doctors could believe I was EVEN given that option, that tPA was even brought up. My husband was the opposite of the candidate. The doctors shook heads and told me I saved my husband by listening to my gut. I responded that I should've listened to my gut when it was telling me to move him out of that god forsaken place, I should've kicked and screamed and carried him on my back. First, they butchered my husband's brain by failing to use a protective device, to take basic steps to prevent a horrific ending. Then, they offered a tPA to finish my husband by hemorrhaging him. It's hard to comprehend that they were that ignorant that thought there was even the slightest chance my husband would survive it. They knew what they were doing. They tried to put a gun in my hand hoping I would pull the trigger, and then it's all on me. I am selling the house simply because I refuse to EVER end up in any Denton, TX hospital if I had to call 911. Unfortunately the ambulance would only take us to Denton since our house falls into that damned area. And if I am still there and get sick, I will crawl to my car half dying or call taxi, but only go to Dallas hospitals.

His exam was thorough. He was friendly, clear, informative, to-the-point, and didn't make me feel like I was being rushed through the office. He offered ways to administer my meds to increase their effectiveness for my breathing. The one drawback is that you need to know their office shares the entrance with a pharmacy. I was completely confused as I found the address, but failed to the little sign by the door signifying that the entry for the pharmacy was also the entry for their clinic.

This clinic is terrible. Communication is all but nonexistent. My mom has to go there by ambulance…read moredue to tracheostomy, vent and O2 support. She's supposed to have monthly appointments working toward decannulation. This year, she has missed four already. In one case, she had a gastric bleed and had to be hospitalized for two weeks that stretched across an upcoming appointment. Her pulmonologist is resident at that hospital and was seeing patients while she was there, so we requested well in advance that he see her at her ICU room. The request was never communicated to the doctor, so we missed that month's appointment. Then we discovered that he was taking the entire next month off for his honeymoon out of the country. We resumed two months later, but the following appointment was screwed up when the scheduler, who gave us the appointment card with time and date at that previous appointment, failed to actually schedule it. We arrived by ambulance only to be told that the mistake was theirs but that it could not be corrected because the doctor was booked solid. Two months after that, the doctor had told us that he wanted to see her in two weeks so that we could move forward with decannulation, but the soonest the office could manage was three weeks. The day before the appointment, we received a voicemail just before 6pm (with the appointment being first thing the next morning) from his assistant inexplicably canceling the appointment. It appears that she had failed to follow up on an order for speech therapy before the appointment and was responding to her own error. Oh, and then the next morning we got a text message saying WE had missed the appointment. We tried the rest of the week to get someone to get back with us for an explanation and the replacement appointment. We finally got through the next week to be told that the month was booked solid and that it would have to be some five weeks later in the following month - again, two months after the last appointment. We like the doctor, but the clinic is a train wreck. Calls don't get returned for a week or longer when they even are returned at all (most are not). As often as not, the communication when someone is reached by phone is rushed and tense. This is destroying my mom's health because the trach has been an ongoing source of infection, left in place even though she has been on the absolute minimum vent settings for five months. The existence of the trach means she has to be fed through a PEG tube, which in turn prevents us from switching her from hemodialysis, which is quite hard on the body, to vastly easier and safer peritoneal dialysis. Her doctor is worthy of four stars. The clinic gets one star because I can't give it zero.

He concluded It was Asthma and put me on several meds for 2 years which reduced the symptoms but did not cure the problem. Went to a cardiologist for completely different problem..he ran one test, put me on a diuretic, and solved the coughing problem....it turns out I had severe fluid around the heart causing a type of pneumonia..from multiple heart failures.. I was MIS DIAGNOSED and delayed getting treatment for my heart for 2 years because of it. A friend recommended Dr.P since he did help her son, but I'm not so happy.

He was able to work with my other teams of doctors to determine an extremely rare diagnosis. But also, the entire staff there is absolutely darling. I know that I can call or email Erin or Christina any questions and they're very responsive, and if for some reason they're going to be out they provide easy instructions for getting in contact with others on the team that can help. Dr. Wakwaya's patient rooms nurse also so kind and will inform you of any vaccines that they have that are recommended for my condition (such as boosters) and it has really helped me stay ahead of any respiratory illness! The respiratory therapy team is HILARIOUS. I think I've seen at least 3 now throughout the various types of tests and they sure know how to make weird breathing tests entertaining and easy! I've had breathing tests elsewhere many times and sometimes they can be super laboring to the point I want to cry, but the only tears I'm shedding with y'all are tears of laughter. The vitals team, always so friendly and helpful with directing you through the patient itinerary! Phlebotomy, another joyous bunch, they've made me so comfortable, I trust their steady hands! I'm to the point where I can even watch them do it, couldn't do they before and I had had dozens if not hundreds of blood draws before! The check-in crew, talk about an operation! We as patients sometimes have really long back to back appointments and somehow y'all keep track of us and make sure we're getting to where we need to be. Thank you, it can be confusing for us sometimes! I don't want to assume, but as a patient it really feels like everyone likes working there or if they don't, we as patients sure don't know it! Anyway, I've seen over a hundred doctors in my young life and this practice is the MVP. No disrespect to any of my other fabulous doctors either because I do have insanely amazing other doctors too! Y'all are just THAT good and go THAT much above and beyond, I am so very thankful!!! Thank you!

Dr Veley: An Exceptional Physician!…read more I rate Dr. Veley and his staff five stars -- but only because ten stars is not an option. My primary care physician recommended that I see a pulmonologist to check out a questionable node found on a scan of my lung. My first pulmonologist was not particularly interested, said not to worry, advised me to follow up later -- and then left the area. I told my primary care physician of my experience. She referred me to Dr. Veley. Dr. Veley reviewed my case file and recommended that I immediately get a broncoscopy for purposes of providing a lung biopsy. He thoroughly explained the procedure, which did much to address my initial anxiety. I took his advice. The minimally invasive biopsy procedure found Stage 1 lung cancer. If Dr. Valey had simply accepted my lack of concern or reluctance to obtain the biopsy sample and done nothing, the cancer would not have been found. His knowledge, professionalism, and approach resulted in changing my situation from what could have been a very dire outlook to one of a probable 90% full recovery after completion of what is today a relatively routine surgery. His office staff is equally impressive. After I reported one admin glitch, my concern was immediately addressed. The office manager provided me with her direct line, and her staff continued to check with me to ensure all was addressed and running well. Dr. Veley's personnel told me that they work for him because of his obvious personal attention, care, and concern for his patients. As a patient, I can personally validate for their assessment.
