515 brewing is a welcome oasis of fun and refreshment on the Greenbelt bike trail. They always have a great selection of fresh, local beers. The best part is it's just a few steps off of the bike trail or just off University Ave in Clive. I was really surprised to fine a comfortable patio, plus lots of couches and other comfy seating. I was expecting the typical restaurant style seating, but this was a nice change. So is the huge selection of board games provided by the company "Dealt Hand". There must be 50 different board games here, many are kid friendly. I recommend 515 to anyone looking for a fun afternoon or evening out with friends and family alike - especially if you like to hit the bike trail.

I had always wanted to stop here but for some reason I hadn't? That was a mistake. 515 is great place for a beer right on the bike trail on the edge of Windsor Heights. Upon walking in the large board of beers was a little overwhelming to me.....however the gal working there quickly asked if she could help me. I told her what I liked and she quickly made a suggestion and offered a sample. There were tons of games around the bar. I had asked for a water which is self serve from a tapped barrel. I definitely will be back to try more beers

11 seconds left on the big projection screen watching the Iowa State Cyclones come back to tie and eventually win in over time over OK STATE! We had to stay and watch the end of the game! We came here for beer and got an exciting sports experience as well! Now to the beer! 515 Brewing Company is exactly what the name says! It's all local all the time! They have 6 of their own beers on tap at any given moment. Then the thing that surprised me, was they fill the extra taps with other local craft beers from around the area! HOW COOL IS THAT! That a local brewery would share it tap space with competitors! SHOWING THE LOCAL LOVE IS what CRAFT BEER is all about! 515 Brewery has a wide range of styles from the Lil Tart (which zings your mouth with flavor) to the OJ IPA which has a nice hoppy bite! The Stout they make is a very high alcohal brew that is perfectly dark and smooth! I suggest getting a Flight to try all the beers the first time you are here! As for the brewery environment! It's nice and open with big screen projector playing the games! The brew master was even out doing some test on things so I went over and asked a few questions! He was super nice and talked to me about the process they use on their beers! This is a great spot just off the back trail in West Des Moines to visit on a Saturday afternoon!

    The bar.

Slow night. Good beers Good music Need to come back. Local and there own beers. Over a dozen to choose from!

Great place to chill with a delicious craft brew AND serve them up!

3 reasons to stop here for a tasty beverage: lively atmosphere, knowledgeable staff and above all - their craft brews taste so good on the lips. Drink Local!

Lively fun place. Different varieties of the local beer. Overall Great beers! Nice aroma. Try their IPA beer! Better than others. Owners were very nice. Great to talk to. Passionate about their work. We took a tour & got to know few things about beer. I would visit the place soon. I had their sampler Yeaaahhh!!! The only difference was no food was served but you can get outside favorite food. Or they have food trucks where you can order food too.

They have two bars on the inside, a large outside area that has views of the Capitol, and furniture made by one of the team members that uses floorboards from the historical building (the building dates back to 1857!).  The brewery started as a passion project for a few of the original founders who were homebrewing by opening a three barrel system in a 20 by 20 space inside Madison County Winery. Since then they have moved twice (now into this new location), as they keep needing more space and keep improving! I got their newly tapped Kolsch and shared a flight while checking out the space and getting a tour by one of the owners. Capitol View Kolsch: A Kolsch served in a German stein. It uses an ale yeast, noble hops that provide a low spicy flavor / aroma, and a light pilsner malt with doughy notes. Light bodied, crisp, and dry. Refreshing on a hot Summer day. Their flights are HUGE, so I had to call in re-enforcements, but got the job done. The flight included: First Run Blonde (Blonde Ale), Bob's Ale (Cream Ale), Cali-Steam Collaboration (California Common), DeVine IPA (IPA), Triclops Tripel (Tripel), There's An APPricot For That (Guest Apricot Sour from 7 Hills Brewing), and Copper Alt (Guest Altbier from Zipline Brewing). A couple of my favorite are below. DeVine IPA: A Session IPA at 4.4% ABV. Mild fruity flavors reminiscent of pear, apple, and pineapple. Medium bitterness and a white bread malt profile. Similar to a West Coast style iPA with some low pine / resin flavors as well. Bob's Ale: A classic Cream Ale. Light-bodied, straw/yellow colored, with a low creamed corn malt flavor. Dry, crisp, clean and easy drinking. Cali-Steam Collaboration: A California Common brewed in collaboration with O.S.H.O. out of Arizona. A slight toasted bread-crust malt flavor with a hint of fruitiness. Nothing overpowering, but with a tandem of flavors for this hybrid lager-ale style. Enjoyable on a warm or hot day. Give Twisted Vine a shot next time you are in Des Moines! _________________

It's a fantastic spot for a quick stop or to sit and enjoy. Bike parking is ample and well-thought-out, just a short walk from the expansive outdoor patio. This space is a big draw, welcoming to both humans and dogs, and it fills up fast, especially when live music draws in the crowds. A big bonus is the limited walk-up bar on the patio, where you can order and pay with cash or card, as well as a fresh, cold water spigot to fill up your water bottle or give your furry friend a drink. The beer selection is generous, with a solid variety of their own brews and guest taps. Confluence makes some truly great beers, and the Des Moines IPA is one of my go-to staples. Inside, up the stairs, you'll find a great area with a full bar and plenty of seating, offering views of the brewery's inner workings. I believe they do tours, but I can't say for sure. One thing I can say is that the restrooms are clean and cool!

I asked for the corner table which was large and there were two of us. I chose it because it was quiet and it was so loud. The waitress seamed super annoyed. I am deaf in one ear and this was the best place so I could hear and actually enjoy the place. I didn't feel her attitude was justified. If she would have kept pushing the point it was going to get pushed to the manager as I have several disabilities and I don't use them, but I do choose certain places to sit to help manage them. My expectation is for the waitress to be kind and shouldn't matter if it's two people, four people, or six people. Should be glad to have a customer and business. My wife and I got a Knob Creek on the rocks to start off. We also each got the old fashion, one with tots and one with fries. The burgers have really good flavor, but wasn't even hot. The bun was super dry and I wound up leaving the bun and eating the burger. The tots were really good, but also not hot. My wife's was the same. The French fries were good, but not hot. I didn't say anything to the waitress because based on her attitude it was just going to make the night worse and I was out to have a nice evening. I have been here several times and this is my first bad experience here and I hope it's not a sign that the restaurant is going downhill. This is one of my go to spots in Des Moines to get a great burger and it should be fire on a Friday night. Fresh and delicious, not cold and dry, is the new requirement, an angry waitress to complete the Angry Goldfish vibe?
