Unless you'd like poor customer service and frankly, bad products with diamonds falling out of your ring, I'd avoid Iowa Diamond like the plague. This review is a long time coming - I finally had the time to sit out and write our poor experience with them over the last decade. It started in 2011 when we lived in Des Moines and together picked out a few settings/diamonds we liked. We were engaged in June 2012 and less than a month after wearing the ring on my finger, the first diamond fell out. We should have known then that this would be a long road of fighting Iowa Diamond for them to do the right thing. They replaced the ring setting right away - using my original diamonds but having the manufacturer create a new version of the setting we purchased. But that product or customer service didn't last long. Soon, months later, another diamond fell out. We took it in and they replaced the diamond. However, over the last nine years, I have had diamonds fall out SIX different times - four of which took place in a four-month period. Let it be known that I don't shower with my ring, sleep with my ring, swim or work out with my ring. I wear it during the day (I work in an office) and that is it. Each time a diamond has fallen out, I have paid for them to get replaced out of my own pocket (approx. $90-$110 each time), but in 2020, I had enough and went to Gina (VP) to ask her to make it right. Sadly, Iowa Diamond did not do the right thing. The only option they gave us was to pay $800+ to have a new setting created by the manufacturer. After much deliberation, we took the option because we thought that was all we had to work with. I'm aware that the setting of my ring is pave, and that Iowa Diamond claims it "may be more prone to losing diamonds," but I have two main issues with that being used as an excuse. The first, is that when we met with our sales person, Pam Storey, she never once mentioned that would be something to be mindful of. In fact, the majority of the rings she showed us had that style. Secondly, my wedding band is also pave style (but from a different jeweler) - and I have NEVER had an issue with that ring, and I've had it for eight years. I cannot and will not do this every eight years. It's not reasonable for us - I have zero friends or family members who have EVER had to have their diamonds replaced let alone the entire setting itself. So beware before you purchase from Iowa Diamond. Because even if you do have a problem with them, they will not make it right and you'll be paying for your ring over and over and over again. read more

When we started looking for an engagement ring, I fell in love with Mark Schneider designs. I looked to see who carried them in this area, and came across Iowa Diamond. I made an appointment, and printed off the two rings that I wanted to look at. Since Mark Schneider is a "featured designer" I assumed I would have no issues taking a look at them. I gave the two pictures to Gina and we talked about looking through some trays of rings, and diamonds, etc. Assuming, I guess that she would bring those in at some point we looked through multiple trays and found a few that I liked. About 3/4 the way through I asked about the two Mark Schneider settings that I wanted to look at. She informed me that they didn't have them. OH, well... ok. Not sure why that wasn't said up front. So, of course looking through the trays its hard not to fall in love with something, and we did. We fell in love with a Valina Bridal ring, which is another one of their "featured designers". My ring is stunning, and I was able to custom order it with two sapphires in the setting for my husband's birthstone. I also ordered a 6 prong setting instead of the 4 prong that comes standard. So, fast forward 2 months. One of the sapphires falls out. I take it in to Iowa Diamond since it is only a couple of months old and Gina takes a look at it and said we would have to order another Sapphire. She also said because it was less than 6 months old, they wouldn't charge me. I would hope not!! Anyway, I got home that night and just thought, hey maybe it fell out in the ring cleaner....sure enough, there it was!!! So I scooped it up and put it in a ziploc bag and took it in the next day. It took a few days to get it back, and that was fine. When I looked at the sapphire it looked crooked, but figured that's just the way it was going to be since it was re-set. I'm not a ring expert, so whatever. I did notice that they had buffed my ring to take all the scratches out, if there were any, but they had buffed one side a bit too much and put a small divot in it. Basically they took the crisp corner of my band and rounded it. They also did it on one of the channel sets on the top that hold two side diamonds in. I guess I was just too excited to have my ring back that I let these two things go because they weren't super noticeable. One of the prongs on the head of my main diamond has always been kinda snaggy and sharp feeling and the stone was off center. Not terrible, but I guess I'm a bit obsessed with my ring. So, fast forward to yesterday. I got married on November 12th and took my ring in to my local jeweler, who has been in business forever and does custom work to have my two bands soldered together. I mentioned to him the buffing problems, and the sapphire, and the prong that rips my hair out every chance it gets, and when he looked at it under the scope, the sapphire that had been reset looked like it was going to fall out again. They also showed me that the one prong that's always been a pain wasn't even TOUCHING my diamond. I am having my local jeweler correct what he can of the Iowa Diamond buffing situation and see what he can do to straighten the sapphire, and the head but it is going to cost $300.00 to get it all correct. $80.00 of it is soldering the bands together, but the other $220.00 is to correct shoddy workmanship from Iowa Diamond. My ring cost over $7k just for the engagement ring, and another $2k for the wedding band, so to have them treat it like they did really pisses me off. I will never step foot in Iowa Diamond again. I feel like they did a bait and switch on me in the beginning, and then did shoddy workmanship to put my sapphire back in. The center stone wasn't set correctly and buffing it to round it out shows me that they don't care one bit. read more

A co-worker recommended Iowa Diamond for when we were ready to start the diamond search. They told us what to expect, not your typical rings behind glass concept. We decided to call and set up an appointment. I of course, thought I knew exactly what I wanted but we were both a tad bit nervous as we did not know exactly what to expect. After being greeted by the front desk ladies, we sat in the waiting area for a few min and enjoyed a cookie. Our consultant then warmly greeted us and took us to his office. He asked us what our thoughts were for the ring and price range we wanted to stay in. Then the fun began! He brought in stacks of black trays with various designers and designs of rings. It was a no pressure environment and if we found one we liked, I put it on and then if I still liked it, placed it on a separate tray. I ended up narrowing it down to three rings that visit and he told us what the cost of each would be. The other part of the process was picking out the diamond. He thoroughly explained all the C's and showed us two diamonds side by side to see which we preferred (you might be surprised that sometimes you can barely tell the difference). I really cannot speak to the actually purchasing of the ring as my fiance did all of that without me knowing which one he picked for me. I do know the consultant was in touch with the designer to specifically discuss my ring. Fast forward to picking out the wedding bands. We had another great experience! Since my ring was unique in shape, there was not a wedding band that came with it. Our consultant helped us to draft up ideas that would work and helped us pick out the right gold for the band. It was custom made for my ring and was perfectly done! Picking out my fiance's wedding band went pretty smooth. Lots of black trays to go through again. We found the perfect wedding bands! Picking up the rings was smooth as well. We came in and were warmly greeted and were able to try the rings on again. Our consultant came out and spoke with us again. Overall, VERY happy with the entire process at Iowa Diamond. They really treat you well. Highly recommend them! read more

Great experience we had here! We always heard people talking about this place and how you can get a custom ring by choosing every aspect of the ring. After hearing their ads on the radio we decided it was worth a shot to check it out. This was during our search for an engagement ring and after multiple chain jewelry stores disappointing us with the same design rings, we knew we had to go custom. At first you may wonder if you are in the right place, it is in an office building. You walk in and take the elevator to the floor the business is located at and walk in to be greeted by the receptionist. You inform them on what you are looking for and they will set you up with a specialist who is in the back. You go into their office and they bring out multiple ring settings first to see what your style is. This is a long process because you will be looking at hundreds of rings. Then you choose the stone which is an also long process. We were not actually planning to make the purchase the day we went in, but the deal and ring was so nice we jumped on it. For those who are wondering, the price is not bad by any means. Like other stores, you choose what you want in your price range and adjust certain aspects of the ring. If you are not coming here solely because of price, COME, they are more flexible in their options than you may think. The staff members here are extremely friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable! The customer service I received from Iowa Diamond is some of the best I have ever received, they completely customized my experience and got me exactly what I needed even on a small budget. How can I express to you the troubles that Iowa Diamond put us through? First off they were weeks behind scheduled in delivering our ring. We paid in full on the 1st of the month, they said they would have it by the 16th, by the 23rd I was calling and complaining. The next day our ring is somehow finished. Come to find out they sold us an uncertified diamond without ever mentioning this fact to us. Please do yourself a favor and shop somewhere else, anywhere else. These people, Adam Kline included are scam artists and deceptive. They are more like low dollar used car salesmen. Seriously, buyer beware at this place. read more

Took the diamond back in to, Iowa Diamond - to trade up on a new ring and now the same diamond is now A carat, B color and C clarity - all on signed letter head document. We purchased our engagement ring at Iowa Diamond. One of the things that sold us on the engagement ring was that it had a perfectly matching wedding band that matched up to the engagement ring. But, when the wedding band came in, it did not match at all! They sent it back and got another one, but that did not match either. They tried it again, no match. On the 4th try they took the engagement ring and had their jeweler try to match it and it still wasn't right! Now we are here, 12 days from our wedding and do not have a matching wedding band. They will try it again after our wedding, but the wedding band will not be in our wedding or any of the pictures. They have been trying for 2 months and haven't gotten it right yet. We were planning on getting another band for when we have our first child, but with these problems, we will be looking elsewhere. read more

While my engagement ring from Iowa Diamond is a nice ring, we would not recommend Iowa Diamond to our friends due to the stressful ordeal it was to actually get the ring. When I was handed my ring (with poor customer service) I immediately saw that it was made incorrectly, but the representative insisted it was correct. I had to come back and speak to a manager, who recognized that the ring needed to be recast and was very apologetic. However, the recasting took longer than we expected, their communication with us during the process was not great, and they bungled the shipping of the ring to us. Not to mention that after all that - the second ring wasn't completely polished. We would have thought that after the bad situation with the first ring, they would have taken care to ensure the replacement ring was perfect. We wrote as gracious of a letter as possible outlining the disappointment of our experience with them, and after a month and a half we had heard nothing. After this I wrote directly to the president of the company, who was concerned, quickly replied and looked into the matter. He has stated that Iowa Diamond has improved various processes to ensure this kind of situation does not happen again. read more

Iowa Diamond is fantastic! My fiance and I live in Kansas City, and we traveled up to Iowa specifically so we could buy bands from this store. Adam is so great to work with! We had purchased a ring from him back in college, and we never forgot how great his customer service was. When we came in, he thoroughly answered all of my questions, showed me the options under a microscope, pointed out any flaws, so I knew exactly what I was getting and helped me balance my desire for quality with my budget. A diamond is such a huge purchase, and Adam helped Sam and I understand how to evaluate the quality of each diamond, so we were able to make an educated decision about something we previously knew nothing about. He even called to follow up a few weeks later to make sure we were happy with the rings.
