Let's call the first one masculinity issues...I won't go in depth on that, but I think most men get it. Women will think it's stupid because they have things done that are way more intrusive. The second one was fear of the results. I've lost friends to cancer, I've seen others fight it and recover, and I know people who live with it currently. It's never a good thing. I started a clear liquid diet at 500 pm on Wednesday. I drank the first half of my prep from 400 pm - 600 pm on Thursday. I had to get up and drink the rest of the prep at 245 am - 445 this morning. Lots of trips to the bathroom and a couple rolls of toilet paper. Drinking the prep was the worst part (and not eating real food for 40+ hrs). I didn't flavor it or anything. It's a little thick and best chased with some water. Check in at 715 am and the procedure was scheduled at 845 am. During the check in you get undressed, gowned up, and they start a fluid IV. Vitals check. In my case they asked a lot of medical history questions at this point too. When it's time you walk to the procedure room, you lay down and they go over the procedure with you, and then the sedation is started. The procedure takes 15 min to an hour or so. Mine took less than 30 min...I think. I don't really remember anything that happened in the procedure room after the doctor (Dr He) discussed the procedure with me. I thought I'd be in a semi-conscious twilight sleep. I was completely out. I don't remember anything until I was in recovery. You are required to have a driver because of the sedation. I'm glad my gf was there because I don't even remember some of what was said in recovery. I had no discomfort. Then you get dressed and go home... We were in the car by 1000 am. Bottom line it really wasn't that bad and I'm not sure why I was so worried. If you suffer from the same fears that I do/did. Don't. Having fears is normal and okay, but don't sacrifice your own health because of them. It's a necessary screening process as we age. Oh by the way. Clean bill of health. No polyps... The service I received from everyone here was no less than stellar from scheduling to intake to recovery. A real class act!

They have a free charging station for phones near the TV on the far end. Several TV and chairs spaced out throughout the first floor. Restrooms are not clearly found if not looking for them. Also. The suites are not readily visible all the time. Look up and you'll find the suite numbers hanging most of the time, but I wish they made it a little more obvious. After the procedure, I was able to enter the office and stay in the recovery room with the patient. Staff inside were exceptional and very attentive. Update from doctor was brief but informative. Nursing staff did a great job at discharge and prepping us for at home care.

When is an urgent care facility not actually an urgent care facility- that would be this joke of an…read moreoffice. 20 foot sign says urgent care, but you carry an injured person in and are told they requiring an appointment! This makes you just another doctors office. STOP THE BS and wasting people's time when they are in pain & need care. If anyone questions why hospital emergency rooms are used for non life threatening care- this office is one one of the reasons. Lying to the public and actually using a 20 foot neon sign to promote the lie, is rediculous and reprehensable. I will make sure everyone I know to take their business elsewhere. Clearly this is not a medical care provider that cares about people.

They gave him the HPV vaccine,…read moremeant for pre-teens, and justified it by telling me that they give it to younger kids in Europe... He was fine, and we went back it to get the one he missed, but this seems like serious negligence. Should have learned, I thought it was a fluke, but a few years later they gave my daughter a prescription for antibiotics that was stronger than an adult dose because they accidentally doubled it. We are now changing offices because we no longer trust the staff.

Intersection of NW 36th and N Ankeny Blvd. the PA Brandon Mitchell is super thorough! They usually can get you in same day as long as you call ahead for appointment. They are open M-F 8-5. Which is pretty standard for a doctors office. They have no appointments from 12-1 pm for lunch. New patients are always welcome and they are great at working with insurances! Didn't think I would review a doctors office but they are a great group. Beautiful office with ample parking and new equipment!

No words I can write can do justice to how I feel about Dr. Bowshier. She is empathetic and listens...I feel she genuinely cares about me at a person. She also doesn't let me pull my normal stuff...which I need. She doesn't let me get lazy in my healthcare and holds my feet to the fire when she needs to. She understands that I want to be around for my family for as long as I can she supports me in this. Parking here is easy...it's a large lot. The staff at the front is always polite and easy to work with. Dr.Bowshier has had several nurses over the years I've been seeing her; all have been good people to work with. The phlebotomists drawing blood etc. for lab work are all great and really know what they are doing...and I'm a hard stick. I miss Cindy..., but got to give a shout out to Haley! Not a fan of the conversion over to Trinity and their processes...but I'll deal with it. Change is hard sometimes. Lol I can't recommend Dr. Bowshier and MercyOne Waukee enough!

I'm 71 years old and have been a patient of Dr. Laura Bowshier for several years. I quit smoking…read morenearly 9 years ago, and thanks to Dr. Bowshier's consistent encouragement, I began taking advantage of the annual lung CT scans covered by Medicare. This year, one of those scans caught a small spot on my lung that hadn't been there before. After further testing, I was diagnosed with stage one lung cancer. Because it was found so early, a small portion of my lung was removed -- and I didn't need chemo or radiation. I am 100% convinced that Dr. Bowshier's proactive care saved my life. Her attentiveness, guidance, and genuine concern for her patients are truly exceptional. I will be forever grateful to her. Dr. Laura Bowshier is simply the best.

I have AGS. My levels are .32; anything over .10 is positive so mine are nearly three times the…read moreminimum positive result. The Public Health nurse who called me said I should see an allergist and get a prescription for epi pens because AGS is weird and even with low levels I could have an anaphylactic reaction (and as it turns out the absolute gastrointestinal misery I went through that spurred me to get the testing *was* a form of anaphylactic reaction). Unfortunately I chose this place. Over $600 to be told the AGS levels on my blood test were "likely a false positive" and therefore no Epi was prescribed. Visit notes list several things that were not actually done and says I likely have "food intolerance", not an allergy. Completely disregarded the fact that AGS is a reaction to a SUGAR molecule while the limited scratch tests he did on me check reactions to PROTEINS (which is why they are NOT reliable for testing for AGS). Did NOT prescribe an Epi for me, so I just starved my way through a two-week camping trip for fear of potential reaction. My visit notes also suggest a "pork sausage challenge" at the office over 4 hours to rule out AGS. That's NOT the way AGS works. With AGS you can eat something one time and not react at all, and have the exact same thing two days later and have a bad reaction. It's a crap shoot. It's just plain dangerous to suggest to someone they're not AGS based on the fact that they don't react within a few hours to *one* in-office challenge. What happens when someone celebrates with a nice steak dinner because this doctor said they had a false positive, and they wake up in hospital or worse because *that's* when their body decided to react?? I also do NOT appreciate the complete lack of transparency with respect to pricing. Prices and fees should be clearly communicated BEFORE testing so the patient can make an informed decision as to whether to proceed. I feel like the over $600 I was charged for this one short visit with minor testing was a massive overcharge. I won't be going back.

I cleared…read moretheir acceptance of my insurance before referral, and again before coming for my 1st appointment and the 1st thing I was asked was to sign a form stating my insurance didn't cover the hearing test and I'd agree to pay out of pocket. I advised my insurance does cover hearing tests and did just two months prior and I did not need another test, she advised they prefer their own and if I would not sign the form it sounded like I was not a good fit for their establishment. She is correct--I know a fraud when I meet one and was not an easy target, so I was a bad fit. (The next clinic I called was appalled and said they would never refuse a patient who did not want a hearing test). Don't give this company your personal information -- I would not trust them at all.
