First thing I wanted when I got to London from Morocco was a bowl of hot, steamy noodles in delicious broth. When I saw that Ippudo was nearby my friend's spot here in Canary Wharf, I was sold and knew immediately that this would be our dinner spot. Having lived in Japan and wanting to experience that sweet, sweet taste of authentic ramen again, Ippudo certainly delivered on this front. Unlike the Ippudo in New York, you can actually easily find a seat here in this expansive and well designed restaurant. You have the option of choosing to sit at the bar and watch the noodle masters create your bowl of ramen. We each ordered a bowl of their Karaka-Men with hard noodles simply because we wanted that amazing, spicy tonkotsu broth. Our bowl was certainly on point and was a good substitute for the ramen gems that you would get in Japan. Unfortunately we did not order a bowl with an egg which was our mistake as it looked delicious. On the side, we split an order of agedashi-tofu which I'd definitely order again. I love a good fried piece of tofu with ponzu sauce. Since we dined in on a Tuesday, they had drink specials with cocktails for £5 which was good enough for me. If you are in the area and want a good bowl of ramen, don't hesitate to check out Ippudo.

    No. 2 on the menu

The soup is spicy enough if you order spicy. I ordered the no. 2 and no. 3 items on the ramen menu. The soup is pretty spicy. It's a little too salty. The noodles are very al dente(chewy) which I really like. I believe they are running out of menu. I wasn't able to keep the menu to check out other dishes for longer. Overall, it's average and not the best restaurant for Japanese noodles soup.

Ippudo in London! I've been to Ippudo at several locations around the world and the quality of ramen they served here was the same as what I had everywhere. We came here on Friday evening after work and got lucky that a shared table just became available and got seated immediately. They do get busy here, I saw at least 30 people waiting to be seated when we were ready to leave. Ippudo originally from Hakata, is known for tonkotsu ramen. They call it white ramen here and quality of noodles and broth is the same as the original store in Fukuoka. A couple of appetizers such as gyoza was what I expected (in a good way), drink special during happy hour price was nice, I enjoyed my quick dinner after a long day in the office. Service was a bit slow as they were really busy but still got what I wanted with just a little wait. Too commercialized perhaps but quality is always consistent. Can't go wrong with Ippudo anywhere in the world, and this Canary Wharf location is no exception.

This place was a short walk from our hotel (Point A Canary Wharf). The ramen was superb! We got a #2 and #6- both had perfectly done soft boiled eggs and delicious pork. The portion sizes were on the bigger side. Would definitely recommend!

    Good flavour but quite small...

For the price you're paying (dinner), I expected more. The portion was small and flavour had msg I believe. Lunch portion was better though, but still on the you don't get a lot side. That said, the flavour was at least good and you will at least be satisfied for the food quality.

We were happy to come upon Ippudo in London as we had a great experience with it in NYC! We lucked out in getting it pretty much to ourselves as we went there the same night England was playing Croatia in the World Cup semifinals - and since Ippudo didn't have a TV, the place was empty. Still, that didn't stop the ramen chefs from roaring out a welcome greeting and service was prompt and courteous. We started off with an appetizer of some gyoza (crisp and tasty - and although it was sadly deep-fried rather than pan-fried, it still had a nice tender-crisp texture) and a Goma Q cucumber, sliced and drizzled with a sesame sauce, which was refreshing and light - a winner with us. We all settled down for our favorite ramen with the tonkatsu broth and extra cha-siu (of course!); it was hot and satisfying, a terrific deep flavored broth, though the noodles were a little on the flaccid side. It compared quite favorably with its Big Apple brethen, so nice to see that reliable consistency on both sides of the Pond!

My mother went for a Business Lunch today at this noodle soup place and while waiting on her order a clumsy and ridiculous waitress dumped an entire searing hot bowl of soup on her back after allegedly being startled by a passing costumer on her way to the Restroom... Really? The waitress had no handle whatsoever on how careful you must be carrying bowls with a wide gap filled to the top. What's more upsetting is that NOBODY did anything for my mother except give her a worthless BurnSoothe packet to send her on her way out and back to the Hotel to attend to herself... I had to leave a very important meeting and rush to the room to ensure she wasn't injured. DO NOT consider this restaurant for your dining plans as it is quite obvious A. Their staff is poorly trained to handle the menu, and B. Management displays apathy when a situation like this happens. Very disappointing business strategy.

Ippudo opened a new branch in Canary Wharf yesterday, so I though I should pay a visit! why not? The atmosphere in the restaurant was great with so many renges (special spoon for ramen) and bottles of shochu display! The staff were very nice, greeting with smile. The ramen itself was ok for me. Because I come from the city ippudo origins so I know the real taste of hakata ramen. Their soup was great. I felt it was quite similar to the one in Japan. Just a bit oily though. The noodle was different from Japanese one and it reminded me of soba noodle. That made me choose 4 stars overall. My friends ordered cocktail called "hakata" and something like lime one which was really amazing! The restaurant is located in a fancy gourmet building in Canary Wharf. I will go visit there again when I miss Japanese food!

Honestly, I like the place.. I know there are reviews saying that is just so-so. I ordered the hard noodle, and it was a good texture, and the meal was quite filling. The on-sen egg is up to standard. The steamed bun thingy ( with a choice of pork, chicken or veg), with the mayo in it, brought out a special taste , combining savoury and sweetness. Kinda open your appetite. I have to mention the vanilla ice-cream! Vanilla is always a classic. This one was visible with flecks of vanilla seeds, and it just brings out the vanilla flavour ! a MUST-HAVE after meal! For drinks, if you are up for a Japonais feel, do order the Samurai ( a cocktail), quite refreshing.

I never got a chance to try the one in nyc as the line was way too long when it first opened so when Ippudo opened in our neighbourhood I jumped on top of it...and was disappointed. We came at lunch and there were only three types of ramen to choose from, the regular tokontsu, akamaru modern, and the spicy one. For 2 quid more, you can add one of the four mini donburis to your set - chicken karrage, chashu, katsu, or curry veg. We started with the hirakata bun for 3 GBP each - the bun was great and the pork belly was marinated in some delicious sauce that had a nice kick...but as i kept chowing down, the lettuce and mayo really took the whole experience away...what is up with that mayo? It tasted terribly sour and was also in the mini dons! who wants to have rice with weird mayo? I got the akamaru modern for 11 gbp with the chicken karage mini don for extra 2 gbp. the soup base was okay and i wasn't crazy about the thin straight noodles. the chicken was good but i couldnt eat the rice cuz it had this weird sour sauce and a lot of mayo. My bf's spicy ramen was much much better, but i wasn't a fan of his katsu don either. Service was a bit disorganized as they had a lot of servers running around but no real system as to who should be doing what. Between the two of us, our bill was 36 GBP with service charge included. I've had way better ramen and for way cheaper price - but the food wasn't too bad. The only time I could see myself come back is if i'm really craving ramen and we don't want to go anywhere far. Otherwise, save yourself a trip. I'm sure there are better places elsewhere in London.

I was lucky enough to, along with a colleague, be taken here on several occasions for a quick lunch by a client (indicative of how welcoming the Japanese are!) By 'genuine' I mean no dumbed-down menus, no super-slick interiors to detract from potentially average food, and no gimmicks of any kind. The place is staffed and run by Japanese nationals as any self-respecting Japanese restaurant should be - and perhaps more importantly, frequented by them regularly, too. Service is smiling and attentive and no more that it needs to be. The food is inexpensive (~£6-8 for a bento, £7-11 for ramen, udon or donburi) and so tasty. On my most recent trip I had beef ramen with tan tan (sesame paste) soup base, and my brother had salmon teriyaki on brown rice. Both dishes had generous proportions of meat/fish, and the donburi came with a side salad and pickles. The unagi (eel) is also lovely, and the place does an extensive line in pick-your-soup base noodle bowl dishes where you have the option of shoyu, miso, and sesame as mentioned above, among others. I can't speak for the takeaway bento, but they looked pretty solid and of a decent quality. Drinks come in the familiar (Coke etc) and the more, um, 'traditional' - aloe vera juice, Pocari, cold bottled green and black teas and others. This place is rather hidden away on the fringes of the City, behind Aldgate station on the Petticoat Lane side. In many ways it's a great location as it's very much a local haunt, and in others a little frustrating as even if you're working in the City it can be a fair walk to get there and back! My advice would also be to get there early (between midday and half-past) to ensure a seat, as well as before some of the more popular items on the menu disappear. In brief summary, I couldn't really recommend this place enough if you're in the area. You'll get multi-kudos from any friends Nippon friends (or appreciators of their incredible cuisine) and have a lunch to beat the hell out of an uninspired sandwich / soft-drink combo whilst spending a similarly scant amount of your hard-earned cash. As your fellow diners would say: "itedakimas!"
