I can only speak for her services as a gynecologist, but she's rude, condescending, and uninformative. Her answers to my questions were evasive and basically useless. She doesn't speak with any sort of compassion or even understanding. She asked me if I used condoms, and when I said yes, scoffed and said "No, you don't". Last time I was there (and I really do mean the last time I will ever be there), she and her nurse made fun of my mismatching socks, and then laughed and said "She looks like she's about to cry!" I had a horrible appointment at this office. I was treated very poorly by the receptionist (I was told to stop crying multiple times and then was put in a separate room and not allowed to sit in the main waiting room because I was crying, she also discussed the private information I had received from the doctor without my consent in the waiting room around other patients and told me I shouldn't be crying about it). I was also told very confusing things about insurance. The message I received on the phone was deceiving about why I was being called back in (it said I had "an irregular pap" not that I was going in to get test results). The doctor refused to answer my questions while I was crying and left the room and left me crying alone for a solid 5 minutes and would only answer my questions once I wasn't showing emotion. I left in a full blown panic attack and feel horrible about my experience. I cannot believe that any medical professional would treat patients like this. I am a human and deserve to be treated with an ounce of compassion. This was following up to my first appointment which was horrible in other ways (the doctor did not ask me a single question about my sex life, past, history, health, medical history, etc). I have a history of sexual assault and she didn't even check in before diving in for a pap smear and an ultrasound of my ovaries which is HIGHLY invasive and triggering and I cannot believe she didn't check in before shoving a big ultrasound machine stick inside me. My visit to see Dr Kakossian was awful , she was seen me for 5 min and don't give me any suggestions about my problem ,seems like she didn't care . My friend told she is so professional and I believe her but worst part was front desk lady she talk to to me in the bad manner also the phlebotomist was rude .So I wouldn't recommend this place . I've had a similar experience as some of the other Yelp reviewers. Dr Kakossian herself was very nice and helpful, she wrote me a prescription for an infection and I was on my way. However, the office called a few days later with my test results, and notified me that I had an infection and would need medication. I was confused, was this a different infection? Do I need different medication? The office had to check with the doctor and call me back. A few hours later the office called back to say that it was the same infection I already was treated for. Weird, but fine. Next thing I know I'm getting notices from my insurance company. Dr Kakossian takes my insurance, but is not in network. Pretty much any doctor will take your insurance, but it doesn't mean that they are in network. I didn't know there was a distinction, and the office didn't bother to clarify either. The office has submitted $7,955 worth of claims to my insurance company. $8,000 seems a bit excessive for basically an office visit and a standard annual gynecological checkup. I'm lucky that I had met my out of network deductible and my insurance covered these bills, but the whole experience has left me uneasy. read more

I had a positive experience with Dr. Kakossian before. During my last visit I was scheduled to see Dr Kakossian, but Midwife Dina Israelov took care of me since the doctor was busy. The experience was okay, but the nightmare ensued afterwards with the billing department. Some of the services were covered by my insurance and some not. It is extremely unpleasant to speak to the billing department. The biller is uncooperative, unprofessional and dismissive. When I asked why I was billed for the few procedures that actually were not performed, she replied that she will "refund me for those four dollars"!!! Regardless of it being $4 of $400 (and it was more than $4, actually :-)), you cannot charge for something the doctor did not do and then say you "will add those dollars to my refund check"! Isn't it a fraudulent activity to charge for something doctor did not do? At some point it seemed like it was easier to just pay whatever they billed my insurance for, than to get a professional and helpful clarification on the charges and maybe clear some of improperly billed charges :( From my experience, this doctor has the poorest billing service rep. I would not recommend this OBGYN office no anyone. read more

Today was my first visit at Dr. Kakossian's office. She was not present due to a delivery but I had the pleasure of being seen by Dr. Israelov Dina. Dr. Israelov was caring and generally concerned about the problems that I discussed with her. She was very attentive to my needs and made me feel comfortable as a new patient. The blood test, ultra sound, Pap smear, and breast exam took no longer than 15-20 minutes. My appointment was at 2 and I was seen at 2. The girl at the front desk was very kind and informative. I will be going back in the future and requesting to be seen by this doctor again. read more

Never again. This entire office is a scam. First, I called to make an appointment with Dr Kakossian and was told and "confimed" by the front desk that she would in fact see me. I came in on the time/date assigned and was charged a specialist co-pay before the front desk person said that "another doctor" was going to see me instead of Dr Kakossian. After the appointment, I found out that the "other doctor" was really a nurse midwife whom the front desk was introducing as a "doctor". She told me that my baby was most likely dead but told me to come in a few days later to "double check". At the next appointment, she told me again that my baby was dead, and sent me to a third-party center to do the same sonogram she had just done to "confirm her diagnosis". After the results came in, the office called me in to come find them out, and would not disclose the results of the test done by ANOTHER FACILITY that I had already paid for, until I paid them another co-pay for a "specialist visit" so I could see the same nurse again, who read me my results. In the meantime, after 3 visits with "Dr Kakossian", I had never seen Dr Kakossian. Not once. They lied to my face and treated me like an idiot, making excuse after excuse as to why "the doctor" was not in and why I had to see the nurse again. At the last appointment, after having confirmed that my baby had died and I was in fact carrying a dead pregnancy, the nurse-midwife told me to do "more tests". I refused because I had done 3 sonograms and a blood panel by that time, which all showed the same. She just wanted to continue "milking" my insurance for money while I was at risk of dying from sepsis from carrying a dead fetus. I have never seen a more money-hungry, shameless and cynnical office in my life. These people do not deserve to call themselves any kind of medical professionals. They lack basic, common decency and conscience. I hope their evil scheming is discovered and their license gets taken away, so they can never treat anyone else like they have treated me and my husband. Dr. Kakossian is my gyn for about 12 years. She and her husband are very knowledgeable, with my twins pregnancy I was very happy, they took everything very professional, Dr. Khoury did my c-section that was very well performed. My twins more then 2 years now, and the scar is almost gone. read more

I came in for a follow-up on a positive test result that I had received at an urgent care. I arrived a few minutes early for my 11am with Dr. Kakossian. I waited 45 minutes before I was seen. I was not seen by Dr. Kakossian, but by a nurse practitioner. I do not know the name of the nurse practitioner. When I expressed my concerns about the positive test result, she dismissed me and said that my problems were probably caused by the weather or from eating too many sweets. When I was lead to the exam room, I was told to undress from the waist down and I waited for about 15 minutes. The nurse practitioner entered the room, said I needed to be completely undressed, and left again. When the nurse practitioner finally came in, she tested me for a lot of things that had nothing to do with the condition I was following up on. I was not given a run-down of everything that I was tested for. I got a call from the receptionist on the 8th day after the appointment and she told me I would need to book an appointment if I wanted to know my test results and be treated. I explained that I will be traveling for a few weeks, and asked that she just tell me what I have and send in the medication. She said I need to talk to the doctor, and the doctor won't be in the office for two more days. an hour later, the nurse practitioner called. I guess she was in the office. She confirmed my diagnosis, but again insisted that I have to make an appointment before she would treat me. I said I wouldn't be able to come in for a few weeks, and she said that is fine because it's not an emergency. I insisted that I'm in pain and I want to be treated for the condition that I was diagnosed with, and I finally got her to send the medication to a pharmacy. Dr Kakossian is a VERY indifferent doctor. Knowledgeable??? Her diagnosis is very confusing and without any explanations. No folow up calls on test performed at the office. Waiting time is aprox 1.5 hrs. Terrible. I will not recommend her as your primary gyn provider. read more

This is the worst doctors office I have ever had to deal with and I believe they are way over billing the patients insurance for the procedures. I feel like there is a scam going on here for many reasons. I called numerous times to get results sent to me, and they say they are sending and I don't get them both by mail and fax. I talked with both kim and dina multiple times. They do not pick up the phone it just rings and rings with no machine. What if there was an emergency????? I needed a procedure and dr kakossian said that it might not be her doing it, and i said i would prefer her, since she was the one I had seen and it turns out that she doesn't even preform the procedure according to her desk staff it is her husband, which she never told me. I was also charged double for a pelvic sonogram over what rosetta radiology charges in the city and she missed the polyp and had to do it again. I question everything about this office....and will take it to the better business bureau. read more

Zero stars. AVOID THIS 'DOCTOR'! Worst experience with a Doctor that I have ever had. Unprofessional, rude and a liar!! Complete waste of my time. I had an appointment booked for 12:40pm today, around 11:30am I start to get messages from her office, asking me to call them about my appointment. I called the number that they provided multiple times....this number does not connect!! I am already on my way to the clinic for my 12:40 scheduled appointment. I received more messages, now telling me that they won't accept my insurance ( a different insurance company to the one I am with, and they already had these details when they confirmed my appointment). I replied to the text message with my actual insurance provider, I get a response to call them to verify this....I try calling the number again but It won't connect. I arrive at the address of the clinic......the floor that they are 'suppose' to be on is a construction site!!! I visit all of the floors of this building looking for the clinic and Dr. Kakossian...nobody knows who this women is. I message them again, they call me back, and say that they cannot accept my insurance, I said i'm in the building which floor are you on so that I can speak to someone in person, the lady I was speaking to says come up the 8th floor (prior to this I was told that the clinic was on the 3rd floor and then told to got to the 4th floor) I visit the 8th floor and surprise the clinic and Dr. Kakossian are not there!!! Today was an absolute disgrace. I missed a day of work to be scammed by this clinic, and did not receive the medical attention that I required. I have been a patient of Dr. Kakossian for at least 20 years. She has taken great care of me. I even had a minor surgical procedure and all went well. Dr. Kakossian listens to my concerns about my health and gives her support. She offers advice and always orders testing when necessary. I have no problem recommending her to others. A good friend of mine is also her patient of many years and has high praise for her as well. Dr. Kakossian is very professional and a competent and caring OB-GYN. If there is ever a wait to see her, it never bothers me because she is worth waiting for. She is my all-time favorite doctor!! read more

To be fair, this review is mainly directed at the office rather than Dr. Kakossian. This front desk is horrible. The young lady, Magdalen (forgive my spelling) is the worst. She is rude, she speaks over you and therefore never really understands what you are asking/needing and she speaks to you as if you are dumb. My first encounter here: a woman with her son was voicing that it is unfair to make multiple appointments at the same time as she had already been waiting 30+ mins past her scheduled time. Her son, being an average 4-year old was getting antsy and Magdalen told this woman's child to "sit down like normal people", telling the woman to next time "leave her son at home". That is NOT ok! Today, she keeps repeating to me over the phone "I am trying to help you" but in reality she is not! She keeps interrupting me and speaking over me. Telling me, "I don't know why you would be doing that, that doesn't make sense". You are not my doctor, it is NOT for you to know/understand. This place is horrible. The doctor might be good, but front desk overshadows that. Stay away. read more

I am very disappointed with my first experience with Dr. irine Kakossian and the office crow. First when I arrived, Doctor irine Kakossian was very welcoming and nice to me and my husband. I told her how happy we are to finally decide our doctor. Next visit when we got there our sonogram specialist was late, next time she was no show, then she called me 2 1/2 hours later asking: if I can coming in.! On the 3 appointment she broke her lag, I feel bad, but over and over stuff happened to her. Doc Irine Kakossian passed me to her new trained midwife Dina, she was always nice( but late to my appointment as we'll ). Then i found out doc Irine Kakossian will not deliver my baby doc Cory will, on my 21 week, doc Irine Kakossian saw me to let me know even doc Cory, who her husband can't deliver as we'll: because he is in the City most of the time and Worse of all, receptionist Marina: who was really rude, any questions I asked her, she was saying: don't u supposed to know what tests you need to do and why u need to come in to see a doctor, I told her that I don't know medical terms and I am asking you if u can double check for me, she didn't respond to me appropriate she was loud talking over me. Never ever again will come there or recommend anyone to go there!!! read more

I had several issues with my visit with the office of Dr. Kakossian, which have left me concerned and unimpressed; to start, neither the address nor phone number of the physician's office is correct on ZocDoc, through which I booked my appointment - I thus showed up at the wrong address and then when I called the number listed was directed to their Brooklyn office - the office had never even confirmed my appointment, which I find unprofessional and frustrating. When I got to the office I also had quite a wait although there were no patients ahead of me. The nurses took me in and started running tests and it was only when I then got into the actual exam room that I was notified that the physician I had my appointment was with was not available, and would I mind seeing her husband? I found this incredibly irresponsible and unprofessional - what if I wasn't comfortable seeing a man?? Normally I prefer a female physician, but in light of the fact I had already wasted upwards of 30 minutes because of the wrong address / waiting I bit the bullet. The doctor I saw was fine although he made some comments that made me feel rather insecure and uncertain about myself. Further, although I came in for one specific purpose the office treated it as an annual physical - the result is that I just got a big fat bill in the mail as my insurance will not cover the visit in full. Finally, I thought it was VERY unprofessional, but when I was waiting at the end to get blood drawn I overheard the nurses/physician's assistant's discussing another patient who was both in ear shot to them as well as myself. While the doctor himself was thorough and explained my concerns (his negative comments aside), the general organization and certainly bedside manner of his staff left a bad taste in my mouth. I don't know that I will return and I will certainly raise the point with their billing staff that they did not address my immediate concerns, but rather did a full on exam against my wishes. read more
