I just noticed this review and thought I would add an update. When I delivered my daughter I had to stay an extra day in the hospital for observation because there was a test (strep) I hadn't been given during my pregnancy and they needed to observe my daughter for an extra day. It sucked. I was in a loud shared room and desperately wanted to be home with my baby. If you use this office, it would behoove to be aware of everything you need to be tested for and be the one to make sure it happens. read more

How is is possible that this OB has anything less than 5 stars?? She's not even my OB but my doc was on maternity leave so I had to see Dr Comrie a few times for prenatal visits and Dr Comrie was on call and ended up being the one who delivered my baby. She is A 74 year old Jamaican Guru!!! Hilarious , witty, well knowledged, calm. There's are all the things you need in a great physician who you depend on with your life and unborn baby's life. She basically delivered me alone as she didn't need too much help from the team. I put my complete trust in her. I had the vaginal birth I wanted and she helped me learn how to push. And sewed me up like a plastic surgeon when I (truly) needed the episiotomy when the baby's shoulders got stuck. She remained calm while I was pushing and I didn't realize the urgency of her split decision she had to make to avoid me having an emergency cesarean. I had my doula with me and even my doula was asking her to be her OB if and when she becomes pregnant. I can't thank Dr Comrie enough for her expertise and friendliness to my whole family and encouragement to my partner during my delivery. She made sure he was involved and even had him assist her at times which was hilarious and something he proudly includes in our birth story! Lastly it meant a lot for me as a Black American to have a Black OB who made me feel respected and heard throughout the labor and delivery process. I loved having Dr Comrie and hope I can pop out one more baby with her before she retires. Dr. Comrie is THE best doctor ever. She is a warm, compassionate, mother like person. She is extremely smart and careful. She remembers everything and is always very detailed. She and her partner Dr. Blanchette (Dr. B) are wonderful. Seriously, if you are searching for an OB GYN these are the doctors to visit. Be warned, they are both extremely popular and getting a quick appointment is difficult. Additionally, the wait at the office can be a bit long, but they are well worth it. Side note: I have had two children with her and have been going to her for 13 years; I trust her with my life. read more

I came here twice. Both times, I waited for over two hours to see the doctor. The second time this happened, I felt extremely frustrated. Why is the wait so long? Why give me an appt for 2:30 pm when I can't be seen until 4:30-5:00 pm? I don't understand. And the staff act like this is completely normal... The person at the front desk snapped at me a few times too, and I was honestly too scared to ask her all the follow-up questions I had. She made the experience uncomfortable. I know it wasn't personal, but it was still a very disrespectful way to be spoken to. It made me feel awful. I also had a lot of difficulty getting my test results back from the doctor. I received conflicting and very confusing information about my health and my results. Dr. Comrie is very sweet, and came highly recommended. A disgrace to the medical profession. I was welcomed into the office by an extremely rude receptionist, no hello,she barked at me to use to hand sanitizer. The receiptionst sets the tone for this pathetic office. In the waiting room, the only seat available had a disgusting stain on it. I had to place a tissue on it before seating. I then looked around and realized that everything in this office is filthy and old. I was handed a dirty pen by the receptionist who claimed it was just sanitized. It was too much. I left the office because i am a customer and I don't pay for a service to be disrespected. Avoid at all cost, this place is unsanitary and the staff is beyond awful. The receptionist should be fired or receive training on how to treat clients. read more

This is the absolute oddest review I've ever written... November 2013, I made an appointment for the first available appointment - Feb 2014. A week before my appointment something came up and I desperately needed to cancel. I have called morning/afternoon and right before closing every day for the past 4 days and have NOT been able to get through. NO answer, NO answering service, NO nurse, NO receptionist, just ringing! After @4 mins of ringing your call is disconnected. Try it, it's bizarre. I literally got on the subway to physically go to the office to CANCEL in order to avoid being charged a no-show fee. I hear she's a great practitioner but this is absolutely ridiculous. After reading other reviews, I may have dodged a bullet on this one. Could you imagine needing urgent care and no one answers the phones? What kind of outfit is this!? read more

Dr. Comrie is an amazing doctor.I went to her on-and-off for nearly 10 years. The times that I went to another doctor was because of timing/the wait at her office. When I found out that I was pregnant, I knew that despite the fact that I had scene other doctors, she was the one that I wanted to experience this journey with. For the most part, I did not have any complication during my pregnancy. Until, my water broke unexpectedly, nearly 2 months before my due date. I was hospitalized and given steroid shots to help develop the babies lungs. Easter weekend, Dr. Comrie told me that she had personal family matters that she had to attend to and that if anything happened her partner would deliver the baby and was aware of my case, etc. Well, on Easter Sunday I was having heavy contractions and despite efforts to prolong my pregnancy, I was told by the nurse that I would most likely have to deliver the baby that day. To my surprise Dr. Comrie came in and delivered the baby instead of her partner. When I started to cry with concern about what was going on she said "everything is going to be okay, that's why I came because I knew you would be scared." To this day, I tear up thinking about that moment. She didn't have to do that. I am sure that her partner would have done a great job. After I gave birth she checked up on me. My daughter had to stay in the NICU for a while and of course, I was sad and depressed. One day while visiting my daughter, I saw Dr.Comrie in the hall of the hospital and she pulled me aside and gave me the "pep talk" that I needed to be there for my daughter and be thankful for my little blessing instead of seeing the negative part (that she was still in the NICU). I have recommended other folks to her and the only thing they've complained about is the wait. She cares about her patients and is worth the wait. read more

Really though... without question Dr Comrie is probably my favorite person ever... She's an amazing doctor, and even better person! She's been a physician to my family for years (my sister Klysha Yelped about her too! Check it out below!) along with Dr Blanchett who was equally amazing but no longer with the practice. Dr. C Has been my gyn for almost two decades, her expertise is phenomenal and it goes with her charm and her motherly attentiveness. The staff is professional and always tries to accommodate. Yes, the wait is excruciating so bring a magazine, a novel, or even use your iPhone to play a game or games or simply to text. I beg not to talk on the cell phone while at the doctor's office no one cares to hear your long drawn tales or the tales of the another person. In person visit waited 6 months for an initial appointment, told the receptionist, doctor MULTIPLE TIMES I was there for an annual visit. She was rough with check for hemorrhoids and talked politics the entire time. Also she uses profane language in conversation. Very knowledgeable but didn't seem modern enough with treatment of growths in the uterus. When I got the bill she was charging me for a copayment even when I said I was there for my BCBS annual wellness visit. Getting someone on the phone is NEVER going to happen. She didn't bill for half the things she did no record of the pap smear, also she had a ultrasound tech provide the diagnostic report not the physician. Honestly, she is knowledgeable but just not for me. Paperwork and modern facilities are important to me. The bathroom needed a thorough cleaning. The visit room used old technology. The only person that was really good was the Guyanese MedTech who takes blood and urine. Not worth it to me - much better in Brooklyn. read more

Untrustworthy! Went to Dr. Comrie for my first pregnancy. I came to my appointments a minimum of 15 minutes early, and every time I had to wait a little over 3.5 hours to be seen by the doctor. Total visit time was usually 4 hours, by the time you get out of the office. Was a high risk pregnancy due to my age, and I wanted frequent visits in the first trimester to be sure everything was going smoothly, but Dr. Comrie only saw me every 2 weeks. When I was told to call Dr. Comrie for important test results, she never EVER got back to my numerous calls and messages. I had to wait until my next visit to learn of my results and make the necessary adjustments. I lost my baby after the first trimester and had to have a D&C at Maimonides Hospital. Dr. Comrie performed the operation, but failed to prescribe any anti-biotics, even after I discussed it with her and told her I wanted to take them to be on the safe side. A matter of 2 days later I was in horrible debilitating pain due to a serious infection that resulted from the surgery. When I tried to follow up with Dr. Comrie I found out that she had left the country for 3 weeks. She never prepared me for that, never mentioned that I would have to follow up with a different OBGYN. The OBGYN who did fill in for her, over the phone barely spoke English. I was unable to understand her. My husband had to drive me to the ER where the doctors were shocked that I hadn't been put on antibiotics after the D&C, and told me I had a very serious infection, that could have affected my fertility! PLEASE do not go to Dr. Comrie. While, she may have a warm smile, and hug her patients, she also is careless and neglectful when it comes to her patients' care. Your health and the health of your children are worth so much. Don't put your trust in this office!!! read more

As some others have said Dr Comrie is the BEST DOCTOR IS THE WHOLE WORLD! I've been going to see her for almost 3 decades :o! Yes the wait is LOOOONG but if you bring something to occupy yourself you should be fine. Yes her staff can be iffy and not the best but I go to the Doctor for the Doctor not their staff. I say she is the best because she takes the time to see you. A meeting in her office to start for you to tell her what is going on and what you are concerned about. Then a meeting into the cold clamps to see what is going on in your lady parts. Then a meeting back in her office to discuss what she may have found, get a script or refill and a second chance to talk about things (cause maybe you were embarrassed the 1st time). That to me is good medical care! I think the problem is that she got so popular (she was rated in the New Yorker mag best doctors in the city a few years in a row). So everyone wants to see her. That equals long waiting times and some hectic scheduling. My tenure with Dr Comrie has spanned her before popular to her during popular periods and you will not find a doctor more caring IMO. If you can get into see her, do so but lower your staff & wait expectations and you will be ok :) read more

So many reviews on how amazing this doctor is, but how do you even get to see the doctor??? The only way to reach the office is to leave a message with the messaging service. It took two days of calling to schedule an appointment and after a month and a half, my appointment is scheduled for today at 3PM. I left two messages with the messaging service requesting a confirmation, because on one called me to confirm it and the person who scheduled the appointment was extremely rude. Will be looking for a different doctor now. What a disgrace of an office! read more

IMO - The best OB/GYN ever! Be warned; this is a busy practice that is focused on pregnancy rather than routine or specialty GYN concerns. You will wait, but the quality of care is top-notch. Hi, I was recommended by my primary Dr. and Was given a quick appt of my surprise. However, my primary Dr. Also gave me appts for my mama gram diagnostic lab testing and his test so that my first visit with Dr Comrie would have my medical back ground. I say this to say that my Dr understood the through screen of Dr Comrie. She really looks for the information. I had my first visit with her April and my surgery was October. It would have been sooner if LIC hadnt closed. I was released within four days, no pain and no pills. We're talking major surgery!!!!!! Plus I had a terrible scar from a c-section over thirty years ago and she corrected that. Let's talk about the wait. Who do you know that want to see an empty GYN office. When you see her following and listen to the testimonies of her patients you'll get why people wait including husbands and boyfriends. There is so much I could say but ultimately Doctor Comrie is an absolute God send. She is so caring and knowledgable and thorough. I have been with her for nearly 10 years and she performed my fibroid surgery and because of her I am still able to concieve despite a complicated surgery. The wait to see her is long so bring a good book BUT it is WELL worth it. She is incredible. She is encouraging, gives you good honest and insightful advice and really wants only the best for you. If you want a GYN who you can see quickly in and out just for a quick routine visit there are probably others but if you have complicated issues, want someone thorough who will take their time SHE IS THE ONE! read more

She immediately diagnosed me, told me I needed a myomectomy, spent hours making sure my uterus was clean, and checked on me periodically. She is the Bomb!! I want to help other Moms-To-Be out there by posting my experiences with Dr. Comrie. I went to her for two months in my first trimester and not only were the wait times extremely long (3 hours and 15 minutes average), the care isn't that great. Dr. Comrie is nice enough in person, but when I needed her to call me back with bloodwork results, it took her FIVE days, and I called EVERY DAY to leave a message. I needed her to tell me whether I needed to continue progesterone treatment AND wanted the results of my Downs Syndrome test, two very important test results. I ended up running out of my perscription because she didn't call back. As a first time Mom-To-Be, this was unacceptable to me. I switched doctors after this and there is a world of difference. With my new doctor, the wait time is 30-45 minutes, and in an emergency you walk right in. She is responsive and wonderful. You don't have to put up with the insanity at Dr. Comrie's office. She has too many patients and can't give you or your baby the time and effort you deserve. read more

I feel bad giving such a low score because the doctor was nice, but I refuse to come back here. The wait was long, but not atypical of most OB-GYN offices. But between the rude and disinterested staff (one nurse walked out on me during intake because "I want to go to lunch" then I sat there like an idiot for 15 minutes until the next nurse walked in, who was extremely rude), the run down facilities, and the fact that I was literally stepping over people who were waiting in the hallways, it was a miserable 2 1/2 hours of my life that I'll never get back. read more

Yes, her office is extremely busy and you truly have to wait a long while to be seen by the doctor....Still, I would never make the mistake of trusting my health to any doctor other than Dr. Millicent Comrie! I LOVE Dr. Comrie. I agree with others. The wait time is CRAZY. But I actually bonded with some of the other women. I went to another Dr. Before Dr. Comrie, he had tons of accolades but he misdiagnosed with fibroids and a day before my myomectomy, it was discovered that I did not have any fibroids. I lost my baby during that time and had to have a DNC administered by the same doctor who botched that up too. I went to Dr. Comrie who prayed with me and told me I would have a baby in a year. Despite the damage the previous doctor had done. And guess what... I had a beautiful baby boy delivered by her. I hated the wait but I hate working with an incompetent doctor even more. Dr.Comrie came highly recommended. Complete strangers were recommending her to me. Although the wait time can be between 1-4 hours; not gonna lie, it definitely will help to develop your patience:). Dr. Comrie is a fantastic doctor! If it is true that every person has a calling...then Dr. Comrie found hers. I learned of her online through my insurance company as I was new to the city and didn't know anyone to make a personal recommendation. Dr. C saw me through my pregnancy professionally and warmly. What a beautiful person. Although I always had to wait to see her, I always left the office confident knowing that I made the right decision to have her deliver my first baby. She is so experienced and calm...definitely skills that you want in a physician during an easy or difficult delivery. She is fantastic!!! read more

I switched to this practice after reading all the positives reviews on yelp and I urge you, I plead with you, unless you have no other choice, do not go to this practice. Dr. Comrie had no appts open for 3 months when I called so I saw Dr. Ari instead. I went and waited 3 hours to see her, saw her for 15 minutes and thought she was thorough but she would not prescribe me my normal birth control (pill) because she thought I should get an IUD instead. I said twice I wanted my pills, she urged me to think about an IUD and I left. The saga of trying to reach ANYONE on the phone there, let alone the 4 day process that was sending a fax to request my prescrition, was laughable (tho I was not laughing I assure you).. And guess what? They DO NOT HAVE EMAIL. In 2013, NO EMAIL. That's hard to beat. I got a pap smear and fully 2 months after the fact I am still playing phone tag to get the results. I have never been to a worse office and in fact got better care at a Planned Parenthood in college. I do not know how or why this office can manage to exist in its current state. Horrible, punishing waits. No one deserves this kind of care. This is a place that is truly dehumanizing and sad. The waiting room alone is dirty and depressing beyond belief, add that to the mandatory 3 hour wait and you have quite a torture chamber for the modern woman. read more

One of the worst offices I've been to. I can't complain about the Dr. , because I've seen another doctor there, but the office premises and staff are the worst. First, i had to wait for 4 hours. They said there are three more women who have my 1pm appointment, so I certainly wouldn't make it at 1pm. The staff is extremely rude, and the whole place is crowded. I was taken inside to give a urine test, and saw rows of other patients' urine in the bathroom, which was pretty disturbing. Also, I'm pretty sure my sample got mixed up with someone else's - I was observing a technician analyzing urine tests (oh yeah, you'll have that opportunity as well because the office is so crowded that they make you wait standing in front of the urine lab) and she didnt seem to pay any attention whatsoever on the names on the sample cups. The doctor's appointment was very quick, no attention paid to personal concerns. read more

dr.millicent comrie is the best i have ever know if i can remember in 1987 i went to have my baby which was in breach presentation i went to the hospital which at the time was long island collage after the baby born and they sow me ,the baby they sow me up then i was still bleading in side i was still there in recovery room with a lot of doctors don't know what to do or how to help they are deciding a lot of thing to do not to loose me late in the night they send and call dr millicent and she came and she peform an emmergency operation on me the following day she came and she gave me a big hug and say i save your life if it was not for she i would died more than 28 a go thank for her i will give her 5+ stars read more
