Sadly, I held on the phone for 35 minutes - I had the phone on speaker - and was unable to get someone to deliver lunch for my office. A woman answered the phone and put me on hold, however, did not mute the phone and I heard her entire conversation about her trying to pick up her hot date for the night. The food is okay but when it's the only place around town that would deliver during lunch time you decide to give it a try multiple times. The food is very good. The best oxtails and jerk chicken I've tasted in Albany so far. The Pros: The Food OMG, Delish ! The hours, if you want a late night snack. Healthy Alternatives ,smoothies. Tasting: you can taste, before you buy. Thats always a plus. The Cons: Unprofessional , when calling in an order,its extremely loud. The gentlemen there seems to be more professional that the lady. More like Filthy Vybez... I went to this place with my sister who placed her order first, then the lady at the register went in the kitchen. A few minutes later another woman comes out to the register and says 'ok what will you have' and I started to place my order. She cut me off with "not you, HIM (gesturing to the customer behind me). The other lady will finish taking your order when she comes back'. In disbelief I turned around to look at my sister who said to this chick 'but she is placing her own order and paying separately". Second chick says "it don't matter, that's the policy" as she proceeded to take the next customer's order. I am very careful about bad energy around my food and the possibility of someone like this miserable female spitting in it, and by this time I already decided I did not want this ignorant broad anywhere near any food I was going to eat. My sister was still talking to her and then this woman sucked her tooth, looked at me and said "alright whaddaya want". Like she was doing me a favor. I told her forget it, I was going to the Mexican restaurant next door. When I came back a few minutes later (with no food, didn't see anything I wanted) my sister felt awful about this employee's rudeness, and she asked the first lady (an older West Indian lady) if she would take my order and she smiled and said yes. I think she overheard the whole thing and was trying to make amends. I asked for jerk chicken, a guy in the back (I guess the cook) came out and said "ain't no jerk chicken, will be about 15 minutes". Well alrighty then. Just ratchet all the way around. Unfortunately my sister, after eating her order of oxtails with plantains and rice & peas, felt sick immediately after eating her food, and had diarrhea. Other reviews have mentioned seeing hair in their food, bugs in the restaurant, etc. So if you enjoy dealing with a ghetto hoodrat and possibly have serious stomach problems after eating your food that you might have to wait for because "ain't no ______", have at it! I would have asked to speak with a manager but this place is such a hole in the wall and I doubt the manager or owner sees anything wrong with his employee's behavior or the sickening food. read more

I placed a delivery order and it showed up after 2 1/2 hours, the order was completely wrong. I called back to see if there was some mistake. When I could hear if over the blaring music, the guy on the phone was rude and dismissive. I asked if they could send out the right order. His response was basically "tough luck buddy", so I ask for a refund (literally got nothing ordered). So he sends his guy back to get the food and gets an attitude that the soda was opened (wanted me to pay for it). Whoever is running things over there clearly doesn't give a shit about the costumer. Long story short I wouldn't eat at this shit pit of a restaurant if you paid me. And I haven't even tasted the food, which I was actually really looking forward to. As a graduate student who frequently trolls Mealeo for late night delivery options, and as an Albany native who fondly remembers Clayton's and Mother Earth's Cafe - I feel I have a fairly unique perspective when it comes to Irie Vybez. I can honestly say that after trying other Jamaican restaurants in the area that Irie Vybez is the best - trumping, and putting to shame the old Clayton's and becoming my go-to place for Jamaican food in Albany. The smoothies are fantastic and immediately reminded me of the days I used to pick out vegetables and fruits at Mother Earth's and watched as they blended them in front of me - no mixes or additives used here, just delicious fresh fruit and veggies. Highly recommend to everyone - especially those studying long into the night looking for delicious calories to keep those little grey cells firing, and who want it delivered straight to their study-holes. read more

Absolutely the best West Indian cooking Ive ever tasted! The seasoning is present throughout every single bite. It is evident that the cooks are "Old School" and use recipes that are very thoughtful creative, and authentic to traditional Caribbean dishes. My recommendation would be the "Jerk Chicken Fried Rice" which comes marinated in a delicious sause that is super flavorful & light. The jerk chicken is also seasoned perfectly!! **Also recommend the Oxtail*** Some of the best Oxtail ever. Delicious and tender, Meat falls off the bone. Hardly any fat as opposed to other Jamaican restaurants. The place also makes smoothies, desserts and health conscience meals. We love Caribbean/Jamaican food...so, when we recently learned of the Irie Vybez Restaurant, we planned a stop there, for some takeout food. The restaurant was easy to find, on the main drag of Central Avenue in Albany, NY, close to other restaurants we visit. Public parking is on the street or in a public parking lot close by. Weekday parking before 6pm is metered & will require a small cost but, weekend parking was free on the street. Now to the restaurant...Upon entering, we noticed a sign out front that offered their specials for the day. We visited during mid-afternoon, on a Sunday. Having already visited this restaurants web site, we had viewed their menu online and had a pretty good idea of what we wanted to order. I ordered the Jerk Chicken/w Rice and Peas/Cabbage. My wife was originally going to order their Oxtail, until she saw the delicious looking tray of their Honey Toast Chicken, which she ordered, with their Rice and Peas/Cabbage. They offered 3 sized meals...small/medium/large. My wife ordered the medium and as I observed the huge amount of food that was being squeezed into the Styrofoam takeout container, I decided that their medium size was a lot of food and I also ordered the medium instead of my typical large size, which I would have ordered anywhere else. As the counter person filled our takeout containers with the food, someone from the kitchen brought out some of their fried chicken to replenish their display case behind the counter...I couldn't believe how large each piece was...they were without a doubt, the largest pieces of fried chicken I have ever seen in my life...I will be returning and their fried chicken will be on my list, one day! While we were waiting for our food to be packaged, the very friendly young lady that brought the chicken from the kitchen, mentioned that we could sample anything that they had, if we'd like...So, we both took her up on her offer...We each sampled a few of their foods and each was delicious. I was amazed at the quantity of food we received for only $8.00/$9.00 per dish...something you don't see very often...and the quality of the food was superb & the taste was delicious! When we returned home, our food was still warm and delicious! My Jerk Chicken was flavored well and was plentiful. The meat was soft, tender and had the perfect amount of moisture so it wasn't dry tasting. Although I like really spicy-hot food, the Jerk seasoning was really delicious but, not real spicy-hot... My wife's Honey Toast Chicken was also flavored well and plentiful...She doesn't usually order chicken, out, because it is usually dry...but, this Honey Toast Chicken was not only too good to pass by without trying, it was extremely moist, flavorful & delicious! The Rice and Peas that we both ordered was really delicious with a wonderful hint of coconut flavor and the Cabbage, too, was delicious. We now know that we will be returning to this restaurant for some more of their creations! Every bite of everything we had, was really delicious. I am a lover of West Indian food, I have many friends that are Jamaican and are kick ass cooks. I am from Brooklyn and where I grew up there were spectacular Jamaican spots. Okay so I have a point :) my point is that I hold Jamaican restaurants to a very high standard. I have ordered from irie a few times, I love the food. Their smoothies are AMAZING! Delivery time is good. The lack of star is only because the plantains are not sweet enough. The last time I ordered the rice was mushy, which was not the case when I ordered the first few times. I believe the food is made with love and the delivery person is pleasant. People will say the place is loud...ummm? Okay? That's just how it is. If you know West Indian spots you know what's usual. Food and service were both great. They didn't have one of the items we ordered and so they threw in an extra side of fried chicken and jerk chicken. This was a good idea on their part because the fried chicken was excellent. Will definitely be ordering that soon. Very tasty Caribbean seasonings. By far the best fried chicken you can get delivered in this area. We also had curry goat, which was very well seasoned and tender. The baked macaroni had a great cheesy flavor and was not overcooked which is often a problem when you order that from other places. I like this place for the most part but this time I was kind of dissatisfied.i go online to see what I wanted so I saw the jerk chkn fried rice ,buttered shrimp and plantons.so I go to call the store to order my food over the phone so it can be ready to pick up by the time my man got there to pick it up for me since I'm at work,so I call the store and said I would like to order food for pick up so the lady responded with a attitude and loud and said we don't do that nomore u have to come to the store so I said I can't just order over the phone and she said no not nomore I said ok fine.although on line it says u can and that they deliver but they claim they don't deliver either so they false advertising on line.but in the reviews I see ppl got deliveries etc only a week ago.then they were told to put extra shrimp on my food I got my food and rice was good but some veggies were hard few bones in rice.and carrots from shrimp were undercooked and I only got 3 small plantons as well for a meal I paid around $15 for then they only gave me 8 pieces of shrimp smh I was disappointed.if I get meat there they barely give meat and not enough gravy on rice.i did not appreciate her tone to me given I'm a regular customer.she was rude and had a attitude.so I won't be going there for a while. read more

The food is good at times, a little oily, and sometimes there's not a lot of meat on the oxtails. I've been ordering there for 5 months now, at least once or twice a week, and I've never tasted plantain from them. They always say they don't have any left, no matter what time I call. If you advertise something on a menu then you should have it all the time. Another thing is "THE DELIVERY MAN" emphasis on the word "delivery". I go to school at SUNY Albany and when I get food delivered the delivery man refuses to bring the food to my dorm building because "it's cold out". Are you fricking kidding me??? There's a $2.00 delivery charge but yet I have to walk out in the cold to go get my food. Not only won't he deliver my food to my building, but it takes 4 hours for them to deliver the food! alright to keep it simple this place just sucks. they wear street clothes around the food,no uniforms or aprons. just plain dirty in there. my experience was frustrating to say the least. i make a $50 order which included pineapple smoothies. a hr after placing the order i had to call them to see where they were. Yep...And trust me this will be the LAST update or comment even about this restaurant. Friday (06/26/2015) I am off from work my friends and I decide to order from Irie Vybez again. When I call to place the order for me to pick up the woman says that she cannot take my order over the phone unless I give her a credit card. Never heard of that before, but just told her I would just come and order my food there. I drive 10 minutes from Marshall ave to the restaurant and begin to place my order(s). First the waitress tells me "Plantains will take an hour to make" when I gave her a puzzled look (because it doesn't really take that long to make them) then she told me that they would only 5 minutes. Waitress comes back "We only have enough pepper steak for one dinner", I tell her fine to make the other dinner ox tails. Now, I am standing there for about 20 minutes getting a headache from all of the Reggae music blasting and it being so hot inside. The waitress comes back and tells me they now don't have any oxtails!! At that point I got upset. You deny my order over the phone, I drive all the way over there, you take my order make me wait 20 minutes, to tell me you have none of the food that I am ordering?!!! So, "I asked what do you have ready? Do you at least have the Jerk Rice I ordered when I first got here?" When she opened up the container and it was empty I lost it...The customer service with this food is like putting a silk hat on a pig, personally I would have fired and rehired several people. I don't have anything bad to say about the food because it was very good, but if I have to go through all of that to get it what's the point?
