This is a local institution and I'm not quite sure why and yet I return quite often. It is located inside the old Stardust hotel and the entrance to the restaurent is next to the TAB area. The dining area is quite cavenous and quite nice. The service is decent and they speak a variety of Asian languages. The daytime yumcha is of average standard but is up there for Cabramatta but there are better options across Sydney. All the main dishes are represented but the variety isn't that great. The food is generally piping hot due to the big crowds. Dinner service is of good quality and the resultant bill can be of very high end places. They do seafood very well and have some pretty good specials. There is a little dodgy parking lot belonging to the restaurent behind the place that can be accessed along an adjacent laneway. There is also parking around the surrounding streets. read more

If you live in Western Sydney, this place is your local yum cha. Its reputation even extends towards the rest of Sydney and many come to sample one of Sydney's best yum cha restaurants as evidenced by the huge lines on weekend mornings, with waits of up to 1hr! But once you're in, the food shows why people wait. Considering the frenzy and the quality of the food, the name of the place is quite fitting! All the usual yum cha fare: sui mai, char siew bao, bak fan yu (fried whiting), ha cheung fun (prawn steamed noodle), gao gee (steamed dumplings), ha gao (prawn dumplings) are delicious. There is nothing more comforting than a weekend yum cha visit, and Iron Chef is a great option in western Sydney. The only drawback about the place is the lengthy wait sometimes and the parking situation. Even though there is an adjoining carpark it gets full really quickly and even finding street parking is a challenge, so get here early! read more

I've been there 3 times during the past 6 years and found the Yum Cha to be ok on those occasions. Food was fine and service was good even with the Asians English being horsed. The only problem was the parking as it was hard to locate a spot and was very packed in the back of the restaurant. Haven't been back there since December 2013 and not sure if I'd go back there again as I found a better Asian restaurant in the City that has the best Yum Cha. read more

TERRIBLE!! This place is the worst. Bad service, bad food, and its also expensive! Normally at chinese restaraunts, pecking duck is nicely wrapped for you, but they cut it and made ud do it ourselves. We heard a staff talk negatively about customers on the other table and they were also very angry and impolite. Never going here again, and i would never recommend the place to anyone. read more

Solid authentic Chinese food in a competitive area. I've been here for a la carte dining as well as yum cha (most recently) and they deliver. The yum cha selection is of the standard in Cabramatta with the occasional surprise. Honestly though, that's a good thing. In an area with a lot of similar restaurants it's always a good test to see if they can deliver the classic dishes well. Iron Chef succeeds in that regard. I particularly enjoyed the har cheung, siu mai and duck pancake on my latest visit. Ham sui gok was a new one for me, but I appreciated the differences in texture. The dining area is spacious, which comes in handy when dealing with the massive throng of patrons and staff. Their bar appears quite well stocked too. It's also somewhat of a luxury that they have parking nearby and are open relatively late. Always good to know that there's somewhere to get good food when most other establishments in Cabramatta are at slumber. I hope to return soon, either for yum cha or to sample more of their a la carte menu. read more

I had the usual Chicken cashew nut and steamed Chinese broccoli. The food was good, enjoyed every bite. I ordered chicken sweet corn soup and it was amazing because it was tasty and wasn't the soup wasn't too thick. It's a tad pricey but it's a great place to have soup that's for sure. One of our favorite places for yum cha. Constantly in our top three although the position changes from time to time. Came here for dinner every now and then prices are reasonable. Ask for their Teo Chiu dishes which are great. Peking duck is nice but not always consistent. Service is average. Never had any upset moment here. read more

Their dim sum or dam cha (drinking tea in Cantonese) is very good. I did not have my usual tripe but we did get the chicken feet. The mango creme crepe is fantastic and the crab fried with salted eggs is awesome. Not everyone likes that kinds of thing. But me I love it! That was so good and I will have to go back. We went to the restaurant about 4 times to accommodate my humongous family. It's good for groups and pretty crowded every time we went. read more

A couple of years back Iron Chef was the quintessential ill joint for your dose of tasty gourmet HK in Cabramatta. I remember these folk served ill cold plates and pe king duck. Since then Iron Chef has gone hella flop big time.. mostly because of new management.. the service and soul just wasn't there in the waiters and food read more

I have been here for yum cha, dinner and a wedding banquet and each time it was excellent. It is always busy especially given it is a big restaurant. All the yum cha dishes are good and i love the fresh crab at dinner. read more

This restaurant may be well known but it's overrated and expensive. It tends to attract customers who are after "better service" but the quality of food isn't as good as other places you can easily find in the area. read more

Went to this restaurant for lunch since we were in the area. The food was surprisingly good, actually quite impressive. Serving was generous too. Staff was attentive. And the best of all, the price is very reasonable compared to other Chinese restaurant in the city. Maybe that explains it given the location, it's further away from the city center. read more

Went here for yum Cha round about 12ish on a Sunday. Service was extremely poor with trolleys whizzing around only to miss the entire back section where we sat. Food was not so great the Ha Chun (steamed noodle with prawn) not only was chewy to say the least it also unbelievably over priced almost $9 a serve compared to other restaurants this dish comes in at a reasonable $5 to $6 tops and would taste way better. Definitely would not go back poor customer service, over priced food and poor quality dishes. Only reason they get a packed crowed on the weekends is to offset the waiting queues at more popular yum cha's in the main Cabramatta cbd. Be wary of 1/2 mud crab nights as we have eaten here only to have the crab dish served missing a claw. Either the crab was born with only one front claw (which I highly doubt) or the use of B or C grade muddies or those damaged in transport. Best to see the crab before consumption alive. read more

We decided to give this establishment a try. From the first impressions we thought it's busy so it must be good ( yeah right). I had a dirty dish in front of me so I asked this middle aged Asian lady for a new one, she was pissed at me and threw the rest of the cutlery as if I just said to her (your baby is ugly) as the glass was rattling she turns to my father in law and said to him "you sit here" pointing to another chair on the table, at this stage I'm ready to ask everyone to get up and leave but as their luck would have it I had my wife poking me not to say anything. Long story short (too late for that) we had the worst meal ever. Chicken with XO consisted of the bottom tip of the drumstick with no meat on it. Horrible service atrocious food and they expect premium money for it. At least the soup nazi of Seinfeld had nice food. read more

We do Yum Cha here. We have taken friends from all over Sydney. Iron Chef never disappoints. Our friends love to visit and do Yum Cha. This Resturant is very busy Sunday's, but waiting is part of the great experience. Food is always fabulous. Weekdays not so busy, but I think selection is smaller. read more
