I took myself on a solo date here to watch "Home Alone" during the holiday series, and it was peak nostalgia. The theater itself is cozy but high-quality, with great sound, comfy seating, and a crowd that actually loves movies which makes the atmosphere that much better! I followed it one night wondering what was going on this late at night and was lead to the Pivot Ballroom. The windows were open, lights flashing, and energy flowing, I went upstairs to check it out and was shocked at how many people were up there dancing away. I was greeted by an enthusiastic and sweet girl, Paola, who explains she runs the Latin Dance Party first and third Friday each month at the Ballroom, she is with Controla Dance Academy. Salsa, Mambo, Bachata, and more! The party goes from 10-1:30, but things start at 8 with dance lessons. 15$ cover before 9, 20$ after. BYOB and BYOF, they do have water and snacks available for free. I usually grab a pizza from Ardmore Pizza and bring it up to share. DJ spinning tunes and loads of people dressed to kill, it's a fun time and well worth checking out! While you are there grab an event calendar, they have lots of dance functions every month.

It's a caring studio that is inclusive for both boys and girls, the teachers are patient and beyond helpful. My daughter dances competitively and absolutely loves being on the dance team! It gives her a whole new experience of being on stage. The studio does competitive and non tracks and has all skill levels for dance and acro! Having a certified acro teacher makes all the difference in what the kids can be taught and they also make sure things are done safely as they learn. Absolutely beautiful community…read more I went here with my mom for a crafts and food fair they were hosting. The space was packed with beautifully handmade garments, jewelry, challah bread, and honey (lots of honey). Although we didn't understand the words that were being said, we could understand the mood of the room. From the open body language to the smiles on countless faces, it was a very enjoyable place to be. We ended up trying some food they were making. The kitchen there was full of husbands while the wives sold the food. It was lovely to see this partnership between families and how comfortable everyone was with one another. The food itself was absolutely delicious. Coming from polish descendants, the varenyky was an absolute must to try. The potato pilatsky was my favorite though. Just the perfect amount of salt and butter in both. The homemade sour cream was just the perfect icing on top. While we were eating outside, near the courtyard, the place suddenly went quiet. The loud crowd of kids and teenagers playing and adult talking was in abrupt silence as the crowd parted to either side of the courtyard. A single lady in the middle of the courtyard started the crowd into song, a song we believed to be the national anthem (not sure). There is no way to really describe the emotions that were coursing through me as I watched the scene. It was just absolutely tear jerking. We had a lovely experience here. It was nostalgic to hear the heavy accents that sound similar to my grandmother's polish accent. Delicious food and even better atmosphere.

Not to mention cheap - just $5 for adults and $2 for kids. Opened in 1811, closed in 1965, and reopened as a museum just one year later in 1966, it's a fascinating look at one aspect of our country's history. The whole building, including the exercise yard with accompanying gallows, is open to the public. Signs throughout the building and small exhibits were incredibly helpful and informational. The woman who sold us admission was very friendly and helpful, and there were two other employees who were giving free tours around the building. If you're into haunted places, this place is also apparently a hotbed of paranormal activity and has hosted many investigators over the years. The main cell upstairs where the most hardened criminals spent their last nights on earth is allegedly where the most activity is. The prison is also right in downtown Mt. Holly so it's easy to make a day of it and walk to one of the many restaurants on the Main Street and explore the historic buildings. Definitely recommended!

I visited Leslie C Quick Jr Stadium for the first time this past September when attending the…read moreGeneva College at Widener University football game. The event was enjoyable overall, and I appreciated getting to see and experience a new football venue. Leslie C Quick Jr Stadium is the outdoor stadium for Widener University Athletics. They host their home football, soccer, lacrosse, track and field events here, per the website. It is on the outer northern part of the University's Chester campus. As someone visiting the campus and field for the first time, this was a little tricky to get to. When you arrive, it seems like you are in a neighborhood. This will feel wrong, but it is the correct way to get to the field. Essentially, you will drive through the neighborhood back to the area where there is parking and pathways to make it to the stadium. On this day, there were staff helping to direct traffic and point attendees in the right direction. This was very helpful for me personally. There is not a ton of parking right near the entrance. It seems that during events, they park cars on both sides of the access road that leads to the stadium/runs on the backside of the Pride Recreation Center (per the website, this is called Quick Stadium Drive). We were directed to park in the grass, up a small hill, on the right side of E 17th Street, if you are driving back toward the Recreation Center. For the football games, parking costs $5, and is cash only. I would not mind paying for the parking closer to the field, but this seemed excessive considering we parked in a grass field. I personally had no issue with this parking arrangement in terms of location, but if you have someone with limited mobility this might be too far. I believe you would be able to drop off closer via the access road, if needed. From where we parked, it was around a 5-minute walk to the entrance. There was some tailgating going on either side of the access road that we saw on our way in. Once you approach the stadium, there are brick pillars identifying the entrance, a ticket booth, as well as various signage. Tickets were available for purchase via QR Code, or right at the booth. We opted to pay on-site, and it was $5 per person for the game. There were discounted Senior and Student tickets available. Children under 12 and Widener students get free admission. The only stadium entrance is on the backside of the home bleachers. Locker rooms are located underneath this set of bleachers, and a press box sits on top. The concession stand and restrooms are visible from the entrance point. The home side of seats is very large. On this particular day, it was nowhere near full. So, if you are from the visiting team, you could definitely find space if you did not want to venture all the way to the other side of the stadium. On the other hand, the away section is rather small. In order to access, you have to walk on the outer perimeter of the track, all the way around to the opposite side. A plus is that this side is surrounded by trees, so there will likely be shade at some point. There are no facilities on the away side, so you will have to walk back around to the home bleachers for restrooms and concessions. I know a lot of older stadiums are built in this regard, but as a fan this is a downside to the stadium and sitting on the visiting side. The stadium atmosphere was enjoyable. I was able to hear the PA clearly, and we had a nice view of the field. The scoreboard was easily visible from our seats. I enjoyed seeing the cannon, the marching band, and all of the game day traditions of the university. The concession stand was very average. I thought some of the items, such as the Cheese Nachos and Drinks, were rather expensive. There was a food truck that was accessible from within the stadium, which provided another option. I do understand this is a money maker for the school, but I wish that they were not charging $3 for water when it was 90+ degrees outside. Unfortunately, the game was paused in the second half due to inclement weather. I thought that the staff did a great job of keeping everyone informed, helping attendees exit safely, and overall monitoring for the situation. Kudos to them for a great response in this regard. Overall, this was a nice first visit to Leslie C Quick Jr Stadium at Widener University. I enjoyed exploring some of the campus, seeing the facilities, and partaking in the game day traditions of the school. It is an older stadium, so some of the facility aspects are going to be less than ideal, such as the distance of the parking lot and distance of the away bleachers from all amenities. Also, the concession pricing could be improved in some aspects. I would recommend visiting this collegiate stadium if you have the opportunity to do so. This was a nice setting for my first college football weekend of the 2025 season, and I am glad I decided to make the trip from Pittsburgh!
