I made reservations at this campground in December 2025 for a one-night stay in June 2026. After…read morereading several terrible recent reviews about the condition and management of the park, I decided it would be best to stay elsewhere. Before cancelling, I reviewed my reservation confirmation, which clearly stated that cancellations made more than 30 days in advance would receive a refund of the deposit minus a $35 booking fee. Since I was well outside the 30-day window, I called today to cancel. I was told the campground is now under new management and they are not honoring any previous policies or agreements, so I would not receive any refund at all. I explained that the recent negative reviews were the reason I no longer felt comfortable staying there. The person I spoke with simply repeated "no refund" and then hung up on me. Very disappointing and unprofessional customer service. Be aware before booking here, especially if you expect them to honor their written cancellation policies. I strongly recommend staying elsewhere.

The grounds are beautifully maintained, the sites are attractive and well-kept, and everything feels thoughtfully cared for. A special thank you to Kristy and Angel, whose hospitality helped make our stay even more enjoyable. They even stayed open a little later than normal to welcome us after a long day of traveling, which was greatly appreciated. The campground may be on the smaller side, but it is absolutely bursting with thoughtful touches. The bathrooms were spotless and stocked with real paper towels and quality toilet paper--small details that did not go unnoticed and really enhanced the experience. We also appreciated the two pet areas, along with several sites that feature fenced-in play yards. The back sites are especially charming, with nice grassy areas that add to the relaxing atmosphere. The freeway is nearby, and while you can hear some traffic noise, it was not bothersome and certainly did not take away from our enjoyment of the campground. Everyone we met was friendly, welcoming, and helpful. We wanted for nothing during our stay. Saying we liked this park would be an understatement. This KOA not only lives up to the KOA standard--it exceeds it. We would gladly stay here again and highly recommend it to others.

On the grounds are a baseball field, water park, walking trail and playgrounds. There is no camp host or "security" but local neighbors walking the trail say it's a very safe area. Nice residential atmosphere. You like the sound of trains at night ? You'll love it here! If that noise or the slight fragrance cow dung offends you, don't stop. The easy in and out plus adequate parking is a plus. I expect during baseball games the lot may be temporarily congested.

Thankfully, they were open for our overnight stay on our cross-country trip. The owners are very nice and welcoming. Because of the pandemic, the pool and other amenities were not available. In normal times, it seems like it would be a family friendly stop. With that said, this stop was bare bones. If you're stopping during this crazy time, be aware it literally is a place to hook up your rig and then depart. For us, it satisfied all our requirements. Someone mentioned ticks on the grounds. We didn't experience that, but also heeded their advice and kept our dog away from taller weeds/grasses. Even though it's right off the interstate, there are enough trees to block quite a bit of the noise. We were able to sleep soundly with the windows open.

We get there this evening, and there is a camper on our site. There is no office and the number through which I confirmed our reservation went straight to voicemail. I should have suspected a shady operation when they didn't expect me to pay for the reservation until I arrived. We were lucky to be able to make a last minute reservation at Holiday RV Park a bit further west on I-80. Avoid this place at all costs. And, it looks a lot seedier in person than on the website.

Lake McConaughey was everything I didn't know I needed -- peaceful, scenic, and the perfect little…read morereset. It's not far at all off I-80, which makes it super convenient, but once you're there it feels like a whole escape. The views are absolutely beautiful -- wide open skies, calming water, and just that tranquil energy that makes you slow down and breathe a little deeper. If you're up for a tiny adventure, there's a slight climb down where you can access the caves and get closer to the water. It's such a cool experience and definitely worth it if you don't mind a little exploring. Whether you're looking for a quiet moment, a scenic drive stop, or a mini adventure, Lake Mac delivers. I'll definitely be back.

Got the camper all set up and was settled in for the evening. We got a knock on the door and the guy says this is his spot, he had reserved it online yesterday. Okay no problem we packed up and moved our camper. No argument from us. My question is why didn't the day workers mark the spot as reserved? Also there were stickers everywhere in the grass, we had to scrape them off of our shoes after walking In or out of the camper. When walking the dog we stayed on the pavement. Other campers were complaining about the same issue. This was not a good experience for us!

The campground was basic- just sites next to each other on a grassy area. The bathrooms left something to be desired for sure. The next morning we realized was also a small zoo we could walk through. It was okay, but we really felt bad for the buffalo and the lone caribou. None of them were living their best lives.
