It had all the things he liked: the option to eat inside or outside but under a covered roof, an easy-going and friendly atmosphere, and space for his favorite people. I planned this event from another state and sleuthed many dining options for 15 or so people. When I called the restaurant and explained our situation--we wouldn't know exactly what time we'd be arriving or exactly how many people we'd be--I received such reassurance that they'd be happy to have our business and that we'd be taken care of. And we sure were! Even though there was a biker event also going on and more people than I expected dining, our service was friendly and responsive. I was so surprised at how wide of variety the menu was! It was also really pretty to look at Lake Roaming Rock from the back patio. Most of us attendees live 1-2 hours from this restaurant, so none of us had ever been. Afterward we posted photos on social media, a distant friend shared a memory of them and my dad competing in a canoe race across Lake Roaming Rock in the 1970s. That just felt like Kismet. A couple things that truck me is not so good was that a sandwich and ribs came with a side actually the ribs came on two sides. I was charged for my french fries, which was supposed to be part of the meal. We were also charged $.50 for a glass of water which I think is kind of petty and something that a restaurant shouldn't do. Our server was a nice young lady, but she wasn't exceptionally attentive and surely didn't know too much about what was on the menu. All in all the food was good. It's nothing super fancy, but it's a nice place for a great meal. With the pandemic, I am sad they stopped their soup and salad bar, but I understand the necessity. It could beat Ruby Tuesday's salad bar any day. They have some incredible specials and some, I think, a bit pricey with recent meat costs, but they post specials every day to their Facebook page. This will also include which two soups they are making that day. Their wedding and Wisconsin Cheddar soup are out of this world. I love good spaghetti and meatballs, and theirs never disappoints. I prefer the marinara sauce to their house sauce (heavier and no tomato chunks.) I've had their chicken wrap, which was so large I could only finish half, but I recommend getting your dressing on the side so you can control how much is on the sandwich. Their prime rib, when they have it, is typically king or queen-sized and has the most incredible au jus. They also have raw horseradish, which is much for me with prime rib, but for those who like the creamy version, they have this too. Their house vinaigrette's for salad are some of the best I've had in my entire life. Don't be shocked if you see the owner walking to floor, checking on guests, running food, and making it know how much this is a labor of love. The fresh bread is a must try!!!!!
