I was on the search for an apple orchard where I could pick my own apples and one that had a variety of apples. Irons Fruit Farm was the place! Just about 40 minutes from downtown Cincinnati, it makes for a half day experience. The farm has apple picking, a shop with baked and canned goods (as well as pre-picked apples), there's a hay ride out to the orchard, there are a few animals (emu, sheep, pony??), there are several picnic tables to enjoy treats at, there's a play set as well for the kids. I didn't come for pumpkins, but there's also a pumpkin patch that is currently open and a seemingly extensive corn maze. I filled a peck bag for $15 and got half a dozen of the apple cider donuts for $5. Overall, I thought it was worth it. The donuts were delicious as were the fresh apples. Options for apples were golden delicious, cortland (the two I preferred), red delicious, mcIntosh, liberty, and the honeycrisp were all picked over. Great experience, pretty friendly staff. Iron Fruit Farm's pies are the absolute best around! They are full of fruit, not fillers, and the crust is fantastic. You will not fine a better cherry pie, pecan, or pumpkin pie in this area. We found this hidden gem when they sold their products several years ago in some of Montgomery County farmer markets. We don't mind the drive to Lebanon to get quality pies. We have bought from them twice in the last month and have 2 more orders in for this month. We have had their apple fritters, apple cider donuts, and the cookie trays that are offered at Christmas time. None of them disappointed us, all were delicious. A must for people that love pies! read more

I give this store a solid 5 because its prices for produce are in the same range as a grocery, and they have non produce products for sale that are reasonably priced. The selection here is not vast but it's seasonal. For example, tomato "2nds" at $2.79/lb spotted recently while the fancy artisinal store by Wal-mart commands $4/lb. I found a shortcake mix for $3.75 - very practical for the price - the other more fancy store is more like a tourist trap. Plus they have donuts including the fabulous cider donuts. Like other reviews point out, the parking is a "cluster" during foliage season in the fall and traffic is unpleasant at those times. In the summer outside of holiday times, this farm store is idyllic with animals grazing along a fence that separates the farm from the parking area and not that many people at any given time. read more

Irons Fruit Farm is a fun stop if you are in the area. They specialize in fresh apples and apple related products, both preserved and baked. They had around 8-10 varieties and we packed a few to go. The pastries were incredible, especially the apple pie. They also do holiday pie pickups. Store was well stocked with a bunch of stuff not apple related. We picked up the best ghost pepper salsa that my step-dad has been asking me to get again! We did not spend too much time on the grounds but they had a few livestock, including goats and an emu. Ok, I'm going to be honest. I'm don't live here and have never tasted the apple cider donuts, so not personally vouching for them my selves....BUT my dad and brother who have both visited won't stop talking about how good the apple cider donuts are, and how everyone agrees they are a must have. It got to the point where I was like, "are they paying you 2 to talk about these things?!?!". I mean, I like a good donut, but can an Apple Cider donut REALLY be that good? Apple picking was a much different experience, than what we experienced a few years ago at the pumpkin patch. Employees were friendly and engaging people. Donuts were sold out when we arrived. Instead we tried the apple fritter. Chunks of apple, cinnamon swirled, and sweet describes the fritter. House made apple pies and large cookies were also available. Various other items are for sale in their store. Apple picking was a pleasant experience. A hay ride took us to the apple orchard. Apples may be picked by the half bushel or peck. For apples that are higher up, apple pickers are available. An attendant is there to assist and explain when need be. Four varieties of Apple were available during our visit. Employee gave us additional information about the farm, when asked. Several animals are on the farm. My daughter made friends with two goats and a donkey. It may have been a burrow. read more

Family Traditions Irons Fruit Farm has been a family tradition of ours for 10 years and going. We always make our annual fall visit for pumpkins, gourds, cider and donuts. The parking situation at Iron's can be a little bit sketchy. The earlier you get there, the better. Especially after October 1st. The weekends do get pretty busy. Closer to Halloween, and also Thanksgiving, you can plan on a big crowd if you get there on a weekend afternoon. You park and you walk up to the Farmhouse area. Make your way to the line to take the hay ride out to the pumpkin patch, gourd field and corn maze. If you're an annual visitor like us, you'll notice that the stop to get off is different every year as they change up the different fields that they use to rotate their soil. The corn maze is different each year and always fun. The pumpkin patch is ripe with big and small pumpkins, and everything in between. And you'll have fun spotting and collecting gourds as you make your way through looking for your perfect pumpkin. You take the hayride back to The Farmhouse and you pay for your pumpkins and gourds. They do take cash or credit. Now, a helpful hint to make this easier. Bring with you some sort of recyclable or reusable bag, similar to what you would take to the grocery store. It's great for collecting gourds and sometimes makes it easier to carry pumpkins, or multiple pumpkins if necessary. Once you've paid, make your way to The Farmhouse. There you will find a bakery, fresh apples, Apple based products and some of the best apple cider you'll ever find! It's like drinking apple candy. Amazing. There's usually a place to sit outside. You can buy apple cider by the glass and just hang out for a little while. Typically they have some sort of food truck and some form of live music playing on their little stage. There's also a small petting zoo for the kids to check out some goats. Would I go back? Each and every year we make our annual visit. We've already gone this year and we will be back next year, and the year after that, and so on. read more

I've been going to irons fruit farm for around 25 years, so I think I'm a pretty good judge of how they have changed over time. I hope management reads this, to change their ways for the better. Pros: -Great for photos -Good "experience" for children (picking pumpkins, hayrides, etc) Cons: -They cut corners all the time. Bad pumpkin crop? They just bulk buy pumpkins and place them in the field. End of season and oversold their patch? Same thing...they just place pumpkins in the field and make you think that you are picking pumpkins from their farm. -For some reason their bake-good and cider quality dropped off significantly this year. The apple cider didn't have that same home style taste of previous years. It tasted as if it was mixed or cut with store bought. I bought 6 apple fritters and didn't find a single apple in them, which makes me believe they might have had a bad crop or cut corners? The owners seem to just be in the game of wealth extraction with little to no investment back into the business. It's really sad to see as it is driving away lifetime customers. With just a little investment back in the business they could really make this experience so much better. read more

Positives: the apple cider donuts & cider are fantastic! My bf & I also got an apple fritter & local strawberry rhubarb jam. They have a great assortment of gourds & pumpkins for fall too. Negatives: Their COVID-19 standards were very disappointing. The staff wore masks, but they didn't enforce guests having to wear a mask or staying 6' apart in the check-out line with markers so it got very congested at the check-out. The line to get on the hay ride to the pumpkin patch- and the hay ride itself- was the same way, so my bf & I left once we got our baked goods. There was a bbq food truck we wanted to try, but the staff weren't wearing a mask there so we decided against it. I hope they improve their social distancing and COVID-19 practices for the rest of fall since their fall treats are definitely worth the trip! read more

Went blueberry pickin' today. Arrived a little after 9am. Kids had fun and I had fun. First time at this farm and pickin' blueberries. The blueberries are so fresh and tasty. The 12 year old girl that was directing everyone on the farm was very helpful, even told me which blueberry rows are her favorite. She also told us about the pumpkins and corn maze they do in the fall. I will be back. Update. Came to check out the farm and do blueberry pickin' again. This time the blueberries were mostly picked over. The 12 year old farm guide wasn't there today. The people on the farm were friendly, but the overall experience was better the first time. The apple cider donuts were delicious. The only downside is that there were flies flying inside their bakery next to the food. read more

It is the first place I crave when I'm sad to see Summer leave, but when September rolls around, it's time for THIS farm. Personally, I go for 3 things, fresh picked apples straight from the farm, the corn maze, and the on the farm fresh bakery. The bakery is the Bombay! Fresh apple donuts, apple fritters, apple hand pies, whole apple pies, and fresh apple cider by the cup, half gallon, or gallon. Amazeballs, all of the for mentioned! A room full of tables labeled with fresh picked apples (with descriptions and suggested using). McIntosh is my absolute favorite, and with all the hybrid varieties available in stores, these are hard to come by. Stock up. Jams and jellies galore, fresh honey and more. I always buy apple butter, which is a thinner apple jelly, with hints of cinnamon. But wait, they stepped the game up this year, Pumpkin Butter! Wow! Stock up as well. The corn maze is literally mind blowing. Sometimes there is an aerial view on their Facebook page, but it's been a few years since it was updated. Maybe they are trying to keep the mystery going. However, it is new and exciting every year. It is a piece art in which you can get lost. The great pumpkin patch Charlie Brown! Yes, you can take the kiddos to pick their very own pumpkin, and grab one for yourself as well. Bring your muscles, they grow quite big. A great place for families, couples, singles, all. There is something for everyone, and it is gaining in popularity, especially when it's "Pumpkin Spice Latte, Uggs, and Flannel Season". Parking up front in the field. Face painting, tractor barrel rides, farm animals to feed, like cool emus, and hayrides. Go early or late to beat the crowd, if your into that. I love Iron's Fruit Farm mostly because it is so close to where my family lives in Lebanon. They have AMAZING apple fritters and apple cider donuts and my office sends someone down there every year to pick these up and curb our cravings. However, their parking situation is horrendous during October. I understand that this is their busiest season but they have the Sheriff's Office out directing traffic on the main roads and kids as parking attendants. These kids had people on top of each other no rhyme or reason. There were tons of hold ups because cars had no direction. This is an area they need serious help in. Other than that, their hayride to the pumpkin patch is fun and well done and they have live music on the weekends that lend to a festival type atmosphere. read more

Oh how I love this place. Great place to spend a fall afternoon. First, the parking is ample and the location is rustic, yet not too far away from main roads. You can pick pumpkins, apples, see a honey farm in action and even do a corn maze in the fall. It really is a blast. And the really, you can do all of this for about $5 a person. Pumpkins are $.45 a pd. What I was impressed with?? The amount of pumpkins, there's lots to choose from and the field is large. You'll have plenty of pumpkins to choose from. Finding the perfect one takes some time. And it's so fun winding about the fields looking. The corn maze is vast, I believe about 14 acres I think. Be prepared if you choose to partake. Little ones may get worn out as the map isn't very detailed and unfortunately, there's not flags or a perch to look out from to get an elevated view. For the die hards, there's six boxes hidden through out the maze. When you get to each box, there's a special hole punch to mark your card with. Get all six and you get a free glass of cider, or a donut at the barn. Couple tips: Don't be overwhelmed by the tractor line. From what I could tell, there are probably three tractors going about in a rotation. So while it looks daunting don't fret. Also, while you wait, if you're in a group, I would suggest one person get in line, and the rest wander around and pet all the animals. There are ostriches! I repeat, there is an ostrich you can pet in addition to goats, burros and a few other critters. Bring a back pack and blanket. Have a picnic at the picnic tables or get the blanket out and really enjoy the afternoon. There's a tent that has hot dogs, chili, sausage and soups. But you could also easily pack your own lunch. Don't be afraid to check out the barn and bakery. Apple fritters, GET THEM!!! You must. There's also apple cider donuts that are no joke, cider, various fruit preserves and fresh apples to choose from. Honestly, locally, this place is one of the best. Make it a fall tradition! The reason my boyfriend and I come here is because he has an obsession with the apple cider donuts. He says they are the best donuts he has ever eaten (sorry Holtmans but these donuts have his heart). We planned on going apple picking on this trip. This farm is a ways out from where we live but so worth it. I love the drive to the farm because I get to see the country life of Ohio and gets me into the upcoming Fall season. We always head straight to their bakery where you can already smell the donuts, pie, and cookies. The bakery has their own jams, honey, and fruit and veggies picked from the farm. We were going to pick apples but the girl at the register said they had a rough year and they weren't going to have apple picking this year. I love coming here every Fall. The baked goods are amazing. This is a family business, and they are so nice. This is such a wonderful place to make memories. Yep, still 5 stars. This year they built a handicap wagon so no more getting a bunch of men to lift my mom and her chair into the wagon! We waited in line for the hay ride and when we got up to the front told them about my mom's situation. They got out another tractor, hooked up the handicap accessible wagon, and took us out VIP style! The driver even waited for us while we picked our pumpkins. I have been coming to this farm since I was a child and I always love coming back. The apple cider donuts are addictive and it's one of the few places I can get unpasteurized cider. The last couple of times I have gone it was very busy, which is great for them, but a little frazzling for me. I like to do their U-pick whenever I can ( I couldn't this time, though) and take a hay ride out to the pumpkin patch in the fall. Rustic family farm that certainly beats out the north of cincy competition for BEST Cider! I stopped up here on Columbus day so it was understandably quite busy. I purchased a nice pumpkin, cider, apple cider donut, and a caramel apple pie. The cider has awesome flavor. The donut was very good. I love the topping and crust on the pie, but the apples are a little underdone along with too much sugary filling. This def wouldnt stop me from buying another one of their pies. I'm not sure how people can give Iron's Fruit Farm 5 stars........even 2 stars still seems a bit overrated in my mind. So, let me preface this by saying that I grew up on a farm and knew many others, friends and family, who did as well. I know my way around a well run farm and THIS PLACE ladies and gentleman, IS NOT A WELL RUN FARM. First off, the place is disgusting. There is no well in h*ll that I would EVER take my kids, or even my worst enemy's friends, to this place. As a recent reviewer said, there is NO running water available and the porta-poties not only look like they are from the 90's, but also seem like they haven't been cleaned since the 90's as well. And, to go on, the place seems to be littered with old machinery. There's literally junk sitting in every available corner of this farm. In the real farm world, this is something you simply wouldn't see. Farmers care for their machinery like their children and make sure it has a nice barn to sit in during off seasons.....or is at least covered. And finally, as for their little shop, I wouldn't eat the majority of the things in there if I were paid too. My friends got apple cider that I will certainly not be touching. Need I remind everyone that unpasteurized apply cider can carry E.Coli bacteria. And, if their cider area looks like the rest of their farm, I will happily let them drink it. Also, just a note to the farm, no ones going to want to buy your sweats when there are countless flies and honey bee's swarming around them in your bakery case. Gross. That's pretty much all I can say about this place......GROSS!!!! read more

It's an annual tradition to come here with my college roommates :) We do the corn maze (too fun!) to get our free donut/cider (punch in at 6 different spots) and then go pumpkin picking! Be sure to wear gym shoes/boots for pumpkin picking, sandals don't work well for traipsing through the brush. I grew up spending summer and fall days at Iron's Fruit Farm in Lebanon. In the fall, visitors to this quaint farm can take a hayride into the pumpkin field to pick out their own specimens for the perfect jack-o-lanterns. They can then head back into the bakery/store to sample some delicious hot, homemade apple cider and freshly baked cookies or apple donuts...yum! In the summer, go to pick cherries, strawberries, blueberries, and apples for yourself. Visitors can stop by the store to pick up containers and then venture out into the fields to grab their own fruit. Iron's doesn't use pesticides so feel free to bite right into an apple you've just picked. It's free to pick, you just pay for what you have by a weigh system at the end of your excursion. To keep kids interested, Iron's offers a Petting Zoo of sorts that features baby goats, llamas, and pot-bellied pigs. Inside the market store, you'll find homemade apple butters, jams, and cider. You'll also find a huge selection of bakery goods ranging from donuts to pies to cakes to cookies. Everything in the store is priced very reasonably considering the fact that everything is home-grown and then homemade. If you don't want to pick your own fruit you'll find plenty picked and washed and ready-to-go fruit for sale in the shop as well. Iron's is open seasonally (closed March-May) with varying hours.
