Best cider around. My wife can't drive within 20 miles without "swingin by" to get several bottles. Make great gifts.

Consider this place worth the drive. You will not be disappointed. I arrived at my destination about 2 hours before they closed for the day on a Sunday. I parked in the lot and it was packed with cars. Next, you have to go inside the store barn and get a bucket for apple picking. The Carmel apples were all sold out as well as the apple cider popsicles and the apple cider fridge looked a little bare. I read the other reviews from my fellow yelpers that mentioned the amazing apple cider, so I knew I had to get some before that was sold out too. I grabbed the next to last gallon of apple cider (or so I thought) and put it in my car before I even started apple picking. This place has a front Orchard and a back Orchard. Honestly, I didn't even see the front Orchard until I was already done apple picking. The best way to get to the back Orchard is to take the tractor wagon/hayride. I waited about 15 minutes and the tractor arrived, but it filled up to capacity real quick. So me and the kiddos decided to walk it out. Know that if you are walking to the back Orchard, you will bypass a stream and walk a couple of hills on the way. The best way to not get overwhelmed by the types of apples is to know which ones you came to pick. My favorite apples (gala, honeycrisp, Fuji) were not available for u-pick. So, I was left to just try the types of apples and find the perfect fit for my pick. Yes, you can try an apple or two. Most of the apple rows are labeled with the types of apples. There were pear trees too, but I didn't see any pears because they were all picked out. FYI's: Watch out for the muddy puddles. Wear boots or appropriate shoes. Ask for the apple picker tool. They did refill the apple cider fridge as I was checking out. The u-pick apples were 85 cent a pound. The apple cider is sweet, fresh and the best around. When it's time for Apple picking, you'd be wise to choose A & M Farm Orchard for its wide variety and bucolic scenery. Minus one star for no baked goods. At a little more than 1 hour drive from our house, A&M has been bookmarked, but took a little convincing to get my hubby to check it out. Our family had a good time. We arrived just after opening, on a weekday. Ours and the other family that came with us had the place to ourselves. Started in the farm store for buckets, and instructions. We took a bucket per family. Our heaping bucket ended up being 25 pounds of a variety of apples. We picked in the back orchard. There are some beautiful views. Most of the varieties of apples we picked were in great condition. There were a couple that were spotted. We just didn't pick as many of those. It wasn't a big deal. About two hours was spent picking, and walking around. For those who want farm fresh apples without the work, pre picked apples are available as well. A word of caution. This is not a tourist's farm. Well kept, but not polished and shinny. If anyone in your party needs assistance, or has difficulty walking, stick to the front orchard. For the back orchard we had to cross a very small stream. The terrain was bumpy. A wheelchair or standard stroller would not make it. We borrowed one of their utility wagons. (Loved that they were available BTW.) It had some trouble at times. (Granted it did rain the day before.) In my eyes this isn't a reason to lose a star. I could see it being a problem for some. We liked the natural feeling. As others have stated, cash or check only. Prices for upick apples are per pound, and were reasonable. read more

I had been looking for a good apple picking farm in southwestern Ohio for years now, and I finally found one in A&M Farm Orchard. This farm was exactly what I was looking for. When you arrive you head into their main "store" area where you grab a bucket with a bag in it for all your apple pickings. The staff there is very helpful and will direct you on exactly where to go within the orchard for whichever certain types of apples you are looking for. Basically there are two main orchards..one right near the store..and the other about a five minute walk from there. They do also have a tractor with a wagon to cart people back and forth during the busy times. They offer tools as well that help in getting the apples at the top of the trees..and it works really well for that. There were a ton of people there the day that we went but there are just so many apple trees that there were plenty of apples to go around..really great looking apples at that. Being this time of year they also had a vast selection of pumpkins to choose from. Anything picked from the ground or a tree is paid for by weight..and prices there are very reasonable. Also at the store they have a selection of apple related products..apple cider (which is amazing), caramel for dipping etc. We had a really fun afternoon picking apples here and got some great stuff to bring home as well..I highly recommend checking this out..it seems especially fun for kids. read more

Just came here the other day with my mom, sister, brother and two nephews to do some apple picking. Just a note this is a drive and out in the middle of nowhere, not that it's a problem. We live in Glendale and it was a 55 min drive. A&M Farm Orchard is a place where you go in and tell them I want to pick apples and they give you a bucket with a bag in and an apple picker and off your party walks for a half mile into the apple orchards. There are plenty of rows of apple trees, but when we came many of them have been picked and with the horrible drought this summer it really hurt them. Be prepared to walk through mud and thru high grass to pick apples so dress accurately. The store sells apples, apple cider and many apple products like butter, jam etc. Everyone was very nice and I can't wait till next year to come out here and pick some more. A note- I would plan a day out of it, the drive thru Goshen and Blanchester is beautiful and the best doughnut shop in Cincinnati is along the way. This was quite the drive out from near downtown Cincinnati. It was impossible to miss even we got near, especially with all of the cars parked in front. We got our bag (or bucket if you want) and went about picking apples. There was a good variety of apples, and it was almost too many to choose from. Luckily the rows are all closely spaced and some are redundant. The trees themselves had a nice quantity and quality of apples on them when we went in mid-september. There were plenty of low-hanging fruit, and there were special picking poles available for higher up ones. Overall I thought the apples were pretty reasonably priced. I forgot the exact cost so I won't comment on that, but if you drove all the way out to pick apples from the tree instead of in the store a small price bump isn't too much concern. We ended up buying six pounds of apples each, and I made a delicious apple butter from them at home. My concerns were two: Firstly, there wasn't much else to do besides pick apples. I wish they had some activity or other attention also available during the pre-pumpkin season. Secondly, the grass between the rows of apple trees was way too long. It was to the point of having to high step if you didn't want to be wacked by weeds walking around. read more

Awesome find, and although not close by, it's a nice drive out here. The whole family is so friendly, kind and helpful. They have a nice orchard that you can pick your own apples from or grab some already picked in the store. The cider is some of the freshest most crisp that I've tasted. I got a ton, including some to freeze. I also got Jonagold apples which are huge and delicious. It was a nice day so we went out to the pumpkin patch and picked out some pumpkins and gourds too! read more

Absolutely wonderful experience!!! So it takes a little while to get out to the farm if driving from downtown however it's time well spent because of what's in store. This was our first time apple picking here, and it couldn't have gone better. From fuji to empires to golden delicious and more...these folks had it all! Had we come a few weeks prior we would've had a shot at pears too. 33 cents per pound. They provide you with a bucket and off you go. It's really only a three minute walk but you do have to go up and down on some rocks and a stream so they offer rides weather permitting. They also sell a variety of vegetables inside, cider, kettle corn. Cash and check only so come prepared. Staff is incredibly helpful and takes the time to run you through the process. We really enjoyed our apple picking adventure. I love that their front orchard always has plenty of delicious apples for us so we do not have to travel far. We always enjoy having the picnic tables available for packed luches afterward. Our group did have some trouble due to A&M being cash only. Inevitably one of us always forgets to find cash. We also have a hard time with no indoor bathroom or changing station. Porta potties with two littles is an adventure all it's own. read more

Love this place. It's a little bit of a drive but worth it. If you love apples, pumpkins or grapes it's a great place to go for fresh food. If you have kids they will work off some energy too. You get to go out to the Orchards and pick the apples that you like and while you're out there try some varieties you haven't eaten. Oh and the prices are great! Best way to get fresh apples for homemade pies, applesauce etc. read more

We have gone to A&M for many years. It is wonderful. It is a family run farm. This year we picked our pumpkins from under the tent as the pick your own wasn't an option. We took the new hay wagon ride (completed just yesterday, has rails to about shoulder height now while sitting and a hand rail to assist embarking) to the orchard where we picked such delicious apples. (Buckets, wagons and pickers provided) The wagon then returns to retrieve you if you don't want to walk back. We fed apples to the cows... you know they must be sick of apples. At the store (cash or check only) we paid for our pumpkins and apples, bought a fresh caramel apple and a jug of cider. It is a family event each year. We love A&M. PS Bring your own refreshments. This is just a great little country apple farm... I have been here many times and love the apple, strawberries, and many other goodies.. On the weekend bring the kids. They have wagon rides when the apple are in season,,, They also have the best apple cider I have ever had... It is worth the drive just to buy it... They have free samples for you to try the cider... Let me start by saying this was first experience apple picking but the bar has been set pretty high! A&M isn't particularly close to my home, it took roughly an hour to get there during which I started wondering whether or not it was worth this drive, my boyfriend also began questioning me on whether this place was really going to be worth the commute. When we pulled up, the "parking lot" was packed! Definitely a good sign! There was really no direction as to how we were to go about getting to the orchard but we were quickly helped by a friendly employee. They had a tractor pulling a trailer to get people to the orchard but a friendly woman with a giant bucket full of apples informed us that walking to the orchard would be easy it was the walk back with a bucket full of apples that was the hard part. We walked down a gravel path that was next to a stream and quickly found the orchard. They had 4 maybe 5 varieties of apples. We were really excited when we first arrived to see that they also had pears that you could pick as well. Unfortunately there weren't really any pears to be found but still nice to know going forward. They also had a pick you own pumpkin patch that we walked past and were really impressed with the quality of pumpkins there, it's early in the season so most people haven't stomped through the patch yet which probably helped their case. We walked back to have our apples weighed and pay for them along with a few gourds and mini pumpkins I found for around the house. They also have a small shop where they sold homemade apple cider that is simply to die for! I am an apple cider snob and this stuff is incredible! Overall I'm very happy with our experience and we'll definitely be going back! My only issue was the lack of direction but thanks to friendly regulars we were able to navigate our way around. read more

This review is for fall apple picking season. If you've never had fresh-picked apples, I urge you to try some. This farm is not very commercialized. They sometimes have a port-a-potty to use. They have apples in a "front orchard" and "back orchard". On weekends, it gets busy and they have a tractor pullinga wagon to the back orchard, otherwise it's a bit of muddy walk back there. You get big buckets, and pay by weight, which I really like, and the cost is cheaper than grocery stores and the apples are better beyond compare (they tend to be smaller than store apples). The rows of apples are labeled at the beginning of each row. The store area doesn't have a lot of stuff. I've had their cider, frozen cider popsicles, and caramel apples which are all delicious and sometimes sold out. I've never seen pies or baked goods here, don't know if they ever have them. The family that I see running this place is a younger couple (early 30s?) w/ a gaggle of small children. Kudos to them for having their farm open to the public (assuming it is their farm). Next spring I need to check into their strawberry u-pick. I do not know if they do blueberries. read more
