Helpful staff with a great collection of classic rock and jazz. The store includes new inventory and plenty of pre-owned LPs at good prices.

(From September 2021) Off the Irving Plaza area, they've got a nice inventory of record LPs and some cds available. Pricing is reasonable with what's on stack. I bought a sealed Leon Bridges' Good Thing album here for a little over $20. Didn't expect to find it so lucky me . Genres are mostly classic rock, jazz, soul, blues, and some international. You'll find some hip-hop/rap and r&b here but it's a smaller stock compared to what I listed previously. All new pressings/releases can be found here as well. Stop in here when you see it. I found about this place through someone else actually and I've been meaning to check out Bullseye records since September 2022 and I finally got around to checking it out today! I rode a bubbler bike there and it was definitely worth it in the end! Even though I found one cassette tape I still think it was a score! I then went next door to the video store and I found 5 movies for a cheap price! Except for "Sunset Boulevard" and "North by Northwest" ($5 each) the rest of the movies were $1! Definitely worth checking out!! I think you can also sell your VHS tapes and DVD's if you are looking for somewhere to do that but don't quote me on that!! Might wait a little bit before I go back again and see if there is anything new (about a week or so lol). read more

Great Jazz vinyl selection. Many new titles coming in all the time. My favorite are the Blue Note Tone Poet editions that sound amazing.

Reviewing for my husband since he's the music person in the house. He went here today for Record Store Day. He had never been here but we found a place based on yelp reviews. He said he couldn't believe how packed the place was even though it was later in the afternoon. He was super happy with his unique find of the replacements album from last year's release from record store day. 1989 at UW Milwaukee. Bullseye Records is a great record and CD shop on the East Side. Offering a healthy selection of Rock, Classical, Jazz and others, you should find a stax o' wax (or plastic) to suit your tastes! Generally small store but fits everything it needs to! Only record store in MKE that I know of that has a whole section devoted to audiophile pressings, by far the biggest selection of jazz in the city as well. New record selection is quite good but better deals can be found at Exclusive Company. Come here if your looking for stuff that you can't find anywhere else! Milwaukee's best record store. Great selection of new and used vinyl at reasonable prices, and the guys know their product well. In addition to an awesome assortment of records, Bullseye sells stereo gear at a great price. I got a restored Empire troubadour 398 for a steal, and they bought my old turntable for really great price which allowed me to upgrade. Their stereo equipment selection has something for everyone, whether you're looking for your first turntable or a serious hi-fi upgrade. You really can't go wrong with this shop. read more

This is a great store. The bins are filled with classic and rarely seen records, I was most impressed with the reggae section. It was remarkable for the size of the shop. All the LPs were well curated and the person working was personable and knowledgeable. The only knock I have is the shop had a lot of reissue LPs, but in this market, I'm sure it is hard to keep the shelves full with originals at the prices they are selling them. One criteria I use for measuring the quality of a record store is how many records I put back purely because of financial limitations. Meaning I have to make tough choices to stick to my budget, not that they are records I would like, but I feel the shop is unrealistic in price. There is a difference and to me it is what really differentiates a good store from a bad one. Bullseye is a good store and I hope I can go back someday. read more

I try to make monthly trips bullseye records all the way from Madison. Although the store is small but it makes it up with its contents. Everytime I'm here I'm sure to find a gem I'm looking for. There is no annoying shop owner bugging you while you skim through the vinyl selection. I feel like Sunday is the best day for record shopping. You wake up when you feel like it, without the alarm blaring at your bedside. You have a lazy morning in bed with your sweetheart, taking your time rousting each other out of bed. One of you suggests getting coffee or brunch. It might be a bit overcast or brisk outside, but the cold air feels good. In fact, it's ideal. Maybe the two of you even hold hands (something you don't normally do) while you walk leisurely down the street--nowhere in particular you need to be. You decide to pop in at Bullseye Records on your way. Maybe there are some bargain bins outside which catch your attention and you decide to go inside. Your sweetheart playfully teases you about your record obsession. She doesn't share your love of records, but that's okay. She has her own interests too--her little obsessions which you don't share in, but that's what makes your relationship interesting. She senses you want to stay a bit longer and keep looking around. "That's okay," she says, "take your time." She pops over to the coffee shop next door and comes back with two coffees. You sip one while flipping through "just a few more." You pull one out, turn it over, read the back side. It has a tactile quality. It occupies a physical space in the world that digital music doesn't. It feels good in your hand. You leave the record store with one arm around your sweetheart and an Esquivel or a Tjader or a Brubeck under the other. It's a perfect Sunday. read more

They have a pretty decent selection here and have sections devoted to genres that are a little more difficult to find at other stores. I've found some pretty cool used CDs/tapes here too. There's one guy who works here who's pretty friendly but the guy who is usually working here (long hair... possibly the owner?) is usually pretty grumpy and makes me feel like an idiot for trying to talk to him or ask questions... if I could hear what's going through his head I imagine it'd be something like, "get the hell out of my store you dumb millennial/hipster..." lol. I think I'll stick to Rushmor since they don't give off those judgy vibes read more

Bullseye is a great place for Jazz, Early rock n' roll, rockabilly and blues. (Or at least, that is the majority of what I am purchasing from it.) Sometimes I feel the prices are a little high but I need to keep in mind that the selection is pretty solid and that's why they cost more, they're not expensive, they are just items that are being sold at rightfully deserved prices. I am usually a bargain shopper with vinyl, so I feel I can't be cheap here, but that is because the owner knows how to properly price things. I am always content with what I buy from here and am always pleased to see unique, random old rock n' roll find its way home to my player. read more

I live in Los Angeles and was recently visiting my wife's family in Milwaukee. I buy a lot of used vinyl so I hit up a few well reviewed record stores in my downtime. My conclusion, Bullseye is the only game in town! This place is terrific! It has everything a great used record store should have; nice employees, a good rock and straight-ahead jazz selection in good condition, reasonable prices and a no-fuss listening station. I bought $90 worth of records and the owner even gave me a slight discount (not knowing that I didn't live in town and that I might not be back). A few of my purchases include early Verve and Blue Note Jimmy Smith pressings, "Long Player" by Faces and "Morrison Hotel" by The Doors. All albums that would have cost twice as much in Los Angeles. I stopped myself at about 13 records, but there were 13 more I could have easily bought (The Who "Sells Out" for starters. Man, I wish I had picked that up!). Let's face it, if you live in Milwaukee and are hunting for good used vinyl then you already know of this place or you'll find out about it sooner or later. But, if you happen to be in from out of town. My advice is run, don't walk to Bullseye Records. In my opinion, this place is right up there with Academy LPs in Brooklyn and Record Surplus in LA. read more

This is a wonderful neighborhood record store of the type that has almost disappeared. The selection is good and the prices are terrific, way below what you'd pay in NY or CA. Best of all, they have serious collector's items in the bins and not hiding in the back for sale on ebay. This isn't a huge destination record store that people would plan a trip around but for any music buff in Milwaukee it's worth a visit. A special note to Summerfest fans: take an afternoon off and stop by Bullseye. That's what I did and I have some cool LPs and CDs to show for it. read more

Very nice jazz selection. And they take credit cards, which was awfully tempting but common sense kicked in and I will be able to eat regular meals this week. But the selection was good enough for my tastes that I could have easily picked out three times what I ended up with. On my first visit yesterday I spent some time going through the bins and it was worth it, found some nice 50s - 60s stuff, one earlier, one later, at some pretty good prices. Some were downright dirt-cheap. Conditions will of course vary with the prices, but I was able to pick out some nice stuff for under $10 and even some for under $5. The staff is friendly and helpful, and there's a listening station set up so you can check out a potential purchase before you decide. Friendly clientele, everyone happy to be there searching through the bins. Very welcoming, laid-back atmosphere. read more

Maybe I'm spoiled by the web of record stores in Chicago, but this place wasn't as great as I had hoped for prior to visiting. Reviews here on Yelp touted Bullseye as the best in Milwaukee and while it's a great shop with a solid selection, it certainly doesn't match up to many of the greats such as Chicago's Permanent and Atlanta's Wax n' Facts. While we walked out with a decent armload of records, I had certainly hoped I'd be walking out with more. Their new stock was mediocre while their used stock had a good number of gems amongst the more pedestrian suspects one typically finds in a shop of this kind. I'll assume the stock rotates in and out fairly often, so perhaps the next time I'm back I'll find more up to snuff selection. Nonetheless, a solid spot - just not a destination to center a trip around. read more

Daytripping to Milwaukee and took an hour to record shop. Found a bunch of great prices on solid LPs. Bought used copies of Merriweather Post Pavilion, Lana Del Rey's debut and Steve Miller Band's Greatest Hits 74-78. Could have bought much more if I wasn't working with a budget. Good vibe there. No snobbery or arrogance from dude at the counter. An hour away too? Much rather trek up there than go down to hipster catering record stores in Chicago. Nice store to pick up new and used vinyl. One of the better ones I've been to in Milwaukee. Wide selection. I purchased a used turntable here a few months ago and the staff was helpful with that. They let me test a few before deciding on one (the first one I tried didn't work) and sold it to me for a fair price. I thought the vinyl prices were a little on the high side compared to some other places in the city. But all of the records I bought, including used, were in good shape. Overall, it was a good experience and I will be back. read more

We've been going to Bullseye Records for years and I've never walked out empty handed. The prices are fair, the owner is fantastic. Bought and album that skipped and mentioned it to the owner one of he times I was there, he found the same album, checked it out and just gave it to me. I told him I would bring back the other one -- he told me to just give it to a friend I don't like very much ;) haha. They really are the greatest, and everything is SO well organized. If you can't find what you're looking for, it probably doesn't exist or you're going to be paying a pretty penny for it somewhere else. This is the best record store in Milwaukee, maybe even Wisconsin as a whole! read more

I went to this place after getting a record player from my awesome wife for Christmas. The guy there didn't make me feel like an idiot for not knowing how to work the record player at the listening station. Definitely read the rules for the listening station for a good laugh and life advice. Anyways, I listened to a few records and chose a Smokey Robinson anthology for my first purchase. It was $7 and it had 4 records, so I thought that was a pretty good deal. read more

This store is excellent in every way. Great selection of used LPs and they happened to have a 50% off sidewalk sale going on when I visited. Usually, sidewalks sales for LPs are full of scratched/dinged records or undesirable titles, but this sale was full of great jazz and some rock LPs, many of them rare and in VG+ or better condition. Also, while I only had time to browse through their used jazz section, I thought the prices were very reasonable and the selection very eclectic. Both the owner and the other person working there seemed very knowledgeable and personable but not overly so. This place is now my first stop whenever I'm in Milwaukee. read more
