This is my favorite record store ever. Period. Ken is knowledgeable and a fair and honest record grader. I stumbled in one day and over the years they have gained my trust due to their selection and honest grading (so hard to find these days). Some may think their selection is priced higher than other stores, but the quality is the best that I have found compared to other stores. It's true, you get what you pay for. If you want to enjoy listening to the records that you buy, look no further. They have so much crammed into this small storefront. I love it. You can hunt for hours! I've been to Musical Memories several times and have never been disappointed. If you are looking for a hard to find 45 or album, this is the place. All you have to do is ask. I was trying to locate Paint it Black by the Animals, and although I didn't see it in the store, Ken told another employee exactly where it was located in the back room. Customer service is great and very knowledgeable. I've always been treated well and not hounded to make a purchase. If you really dig you might be able to find a good record in here. However it is impossible to do so. Every shelf and box is packed to the point of warping. Good luck being able to flip through ANY bit of this store. Even when you find a good record, chances are it will be priced at double of what it would be worth if it was warped. I love this place!! I've checked out every record store in the MKE area and this one by far has the biggest/best selection of albums that suit my taste. A lot of 50s, 60s, 70s pop and rock, great collection of jazz, rhythm and blues, some country & western and gospel, and a HUGE selection of 45s- if you are willing to take the dive and dig through them. Yes, it is a little cramped down there. Personally, I like that sort of atmosphere. I could spend all day digging through stacks of old albums and scanning used book stores. What else do you go to a record store for? Half of the fun is in finding those gems you didn't even know you were looking for. This place is full of them! Okay- The employees are not the warmest, friendliest people. The prices are not the lowest- but the owners know what they have got - a great selection, in good condition - and know what their stock is worth. I think the prices are fair for the condition. The employees are very knowledgeable about what they have, but I wouldn't say that they ever came off as "snobs" or hostile to me. They like to talk baseball, Jazz, and rock n roll. Nothing wrong with that! I felt like I had to write this review because of all the flack this place has gotten on here, and when you google the store. I come every time I'm in the area. Don't be discouraged! If you like old music, you will find something you like here, and if you've got some time to kill you could spend all afternoon digging around. read more

I'm guessing that most of the bad reviews are because of the owners' unfriendliness. Yes they are not the most friendly of store owners but that doesn't take away the fact that the shop has plenty of stock especially 45s. I never look at the albums but the 45s are well organised in alphabetical order. Yes there is a lot of stock lying around and they could do with more storage area but this doesn't cause a problem. I just hope that this store carries on trading after the shut-down. I travel from the UK once a year to this area and this place is always first on my list. read more

Yes, it's in a smaller basement location, which feels a little cramped. Don't go when it's warm out - it gets hot down there. Browsing isn't extremely comfortable since there are boxes of CDs stacked on sections of vinyl, and the vinyl is packed in tight. However, the organization of the store is easy to figure out, and if you ask the owners, they are happy to help you find what you're looking for. Tons of used jazz, blues, rock, & oldies vinyl. Didn't notice any new vinyl. TONS of 45s, especially ones from old jukeboxes. Decent used CD selection, but not many from the past decade or two. One interesting thing is that each time I've gone, the total paid comes out to less than the sticker price. Definitely worth checking out if you're in the area. read more

This is a dirty, cramp record store that is tough to navigate. It is a dusty, congested record store and it is difficult to dig through the crates. The owners are pompous, are not friendly and it seemed like because we were the youngest in the store they were a bit condescending. Finally, all the records are very over priced and the owners are too proud of their collection. Lots of classic rock records but be prepared to pay top dollar! read more

Small unassuming record front, packed with classic records, loads of jazz and music memorabilia. First the good: they have an incredible selection. The place is jam packed with records (literally). This is THE place to go in Milwaukee for 45s. Huge selection. They're probably more likely to have rarer/hard to find records than the average shop. The bad: this place is not a good browsing experience. The crates are so tightly packed with records that it is difficult to look through them. The store is poorly laid out and marked off. The staff is not very personable. They made me feel more like I was looking through their vinyl collection than a customer here to give them business. The prices are high. Overall this place would not be my first recommendation for a record store in Milwaukee, especially to those new to the hobby. If you're a connoisseur, it's worth a trip. I may be back the next time I feel the need to add to my collection of 45s, but in the meantime I will stick with my preferred shops in the city for my regular visits. read more

I go here when I want to find a specific 45 and they always seem to have it. I end up buying a handful and they do give me a fair deal. They are very knowledgable. It is true the space is cramped, cluttered and the LPs are so packed in it is difficult to look through them. It does also feel like you are walking into their living room with how the owners dress and act. No listening station. On the high end with prices. It maybe a basement, but it is a basement packed with all your vintage vinyl needs. The back wall of nothing but 45s was amazing. The guys working were very helpful. I filled a lot of gaps in my 45 collection. Prices of 45s were $4 and up but in great condition, not beat up scratched up unplayable condition. Worth the trip. read more

Excellent source for vinyl. If you are looking for vintage vinyl of all genres, that is in exceptional condition, you must stop here. They hand pick their inventory so you know it is in fantastic condition. Never been disappointed in over 25 years. Prices are reasonable considering what they go through to offer vinyl in this condition. When I stop I always find what I am after. Well worth your time to stop in and browse. read more
