Her quality, elegance, and taste were wonderful and we were so excited to have her expertise in our corner. Days before the wedding, we got the nightmare news. Someone in our party had come down with COVID. I immediately informed all of our guests and vendors because we really wanted to do the right thing. I respect her right to change her mind and not to be a part of our wedding if she's not comfortable with the risks. I know each of us handle COVID risk and comfort differently - that's not where she let us down. But she told us she wasn't doing our wedding now given the COVID diagnosis because she had plans for a future wedding. I'll give her the benefit of the doubt that that other wedding booked first, but that's me fighting for her and giving her every possibility. She didn't even have the heart to recommend an alternative or trusted friend, or even to suggest a place we might look on short notice to try to find an alternative. We had to scramble to make sure my wife even had a stylist for our wedding to the point friends were offering to do their best effort as amateurs! I don't work in a customer facing role, and in her shoes even I would have sincerely apologized things went the way they went and suggested a few places to look on short notice to try to make sure the couple had their best shot at finding an alternative. She knew what declining on short notice meant for us. Her behavior was deeply unprofessional, impersonal, and unconcerned with our outcomes, and I cannot recommend her. When contingencies come up, can you count on her to take ownership and have your back?

I hired kendra in March for a December wedding. She charged me the full cost of service as a…read morenon-refundable which I now know is an unethical business practice. She books trials too close to the date, so when the trial went sideways, I had to add a to do to the busy planning, which wasn't ideal. Kendra seems to have a one size fits all approach to makeup, and she doesn't listen. She has a heavy handed approach to application (see her instagram). She is condescending and makes little snide comments that are little biting insults. When I mentioned that my eyebrows were way too dark and overdone, her response "eyebrows are a non-negotiable"... umm, wth is that about? Anyway, upon calling other artists, it seems that Kendra has quite the reputation with her peers. They've heard my story from other folks that have attempted to work with Kendra. Recently, Kendra has announced that she is "mostly" retiring from makeup application, but beware that she is still hiring out makeup artists under her KLS business. There are numerous other capable professionals in the area, and I would highly recommend looking to them if you have any interest in natural and flattering makeup. I gave kendra the opportunity to make this right with a partial refund, which she chose to ignore.

I'm not really a hair and makeup girl and…read moreI knew I would feel really uncomfortable having lots of people comment on my outfit, which is to be expected if you're the bride. I knew I would be super stressed trying to do it myself, even though I had a small and fairly casual wedding, therefore, it was the one thing I was willing to splurge on. So I chose Hanna based on 1) the pictures of women here and on her site looked like actual, lovely women and not weird dolls and 2) 5-star reviews. My experience: My wedding was plagued with rather insensitive visiting in laws (example, showed up two hour late for our wedding breakfast, and then "joking" that I was rude for running out the door to get my nails done. Also texted us at 8:00 am the day AFTER our wedding - ummm, honeymoon anyone? to find out where we were going to meet them for breakfast...anyway). So unexpectedly, I was a bit stressed and a few minutes late coming back for my make up appointment by the time Hanna arrived (SHE was exactly on time). I had e-mailed some ideas to her previously and all of our communications were pleasant and prompt. But in person was even nicer. Instantly in her presence on that stupid stressful day I started to relax, she was calm, smiling and ready to work. Even though I made us start late (so sorry!!) she didn't give me any grief for it and got it all done on time. I needed that so much. And she's just a nice person. She kept chatting in a soft voice to my curls while she was pinning them up..."Okay curl, you tell me how you would like to sit, okay, like that? Oh you look nice now"...it was crazy soothing. In the end, I got so many compliments on my hair and makeup that I really should have taken some cards for her to hand out to the crowd. But most importantly, my groom, who always sees me sans makeup, really loved it. The look stayed put all night and the best part was that when I finally unpinned my hair, she had done something that made it look cute down too - so bonus, two more days of wedding hair awesomeness before I washed it out! The only thing I would have done differently would be to spring for the trial run, so that the day of my wedding I would have been excitedly anticipating the look, instead of being kind of worried it would be weird (it was so not weird!).

I hired 2 makeup/hair stylists and realized maybe I need one more. It is so close to the wedding that I knew it may not happen but Hanna worked her magic and got us a 3rd person. I will continue to tell people about her company and how amazing she is to work with. 16 days till the wedding and I don't have to stress about how my bridal party or myself will look and that's a fantastic feeling to have.
