Since the installed replacement cost have more than doubled for just a single stage 15 seer system and 3-4 times higher for an 18+ seer variable speed condenser and air handler system, I began researching different systems and vendors. During this time, I learned that not everyone likes a do-it-yourself like me. Some even said I wanted, "free work." Not true! However, the current installed prices spoke to me. I grabbed my tools! Pulling a local permit as a home owner/builder in Florida, I installed a 2 ton (24k) ACIQ-24-HP32 condenser and ACIQ-24-AH32 air handler, and related mechanical. This system replaced a 26 year old 1.5 ton (18K) Trane XE-1000 condenser and TWGO18A air handler that was showing its age -- like me. One of my main hardware vendors, HVAC direct, patiently worked with me as I learned the new system requirements. With help from Isaiah Luke Appliance Repair to do the final commissioning of the system, the new ACIQ inverter system passed local inspection! The new system is a noticeably quieter and produces considerable heat split by comparison with the previous system. My washing machine was pretty on the outside, but had begun to make squeaking noises that I guessed were related to a failed bearing. Isaiah listened for a moment and went right to the real problem worn and broken plastic gears. Replacement costs would be more than 60% of the cost of a good quality replacement. When I decided to go with a new washer, Isaiah said that for no charge beyond the moderate visit fee I already paid, he would pick up and install the new washer, which he did. I have a few minor household jobs ahead of me and I'm pleased that I now have the guy to do them. I already have had him install a new range hood, which he did quickly for a moderate fee. Isaiah performed a dryer lint complete clean out for my dryer in January, since my laundry wasn't drying effectively. His service was quickly scheduled, he arrived when he said he would, and the service provided was professional and extremely courteous. When I noticed my dryer lint screen wasn't seated all the way into the filter housing, I ignored it since it was still working well and trapping lint and drying efficiently. However, in July it started to catch items of clothing on the corner of the lint screen as items were drying and ripped some clothing. I called Isiah to mention that it never quite seated flush into the lint screen housing and I'd ignored it, but now it was causing damage to my clothing.
