During this time, I learned that not everyone likes a do-it-yourself like me. Some even said I wanted, "free work." Not true! However, the current installed prices spoke to me. I grabbed my tools! Pulling a local permit as a home owner/builder in Florida, I installed a 2 ton (24k) ACIQ-24-HP32 condenser and ACIQ-24-AH32 air handler, and related mechanical. This system replaced a 26 year old 1.5 ton (18K) Trane XE-1000 condenser and TWGO18A air handler that was showing its age -- like me. One of my main hardware vendors, HVAC direct, patiently worked with me as I learned the new system requirements. With help from Isaiah Luke Appliance Repair to do the final commissioning of the system, the new ACIQ inverter system passed local inspection! The new system is a noticeably quieter and produces considerable heat split by comparison with the previous system. The fact that the ACIQ has a higher BTU rating, (24K) a higher seer rating (18), and yet uses smaller breakers, 30A down to 25A on the outside unit and 30 down to 15 amps for the inside unit and doesn't dim my lights when it runs, says it all. Well "the guy" in this case Citywide Appliance Repairs, and he did not know what he was doing when it came to fixing my fridge. He did know what he was doing when he ripped me off for over 160 bucks. So this guy came and for a $69 diagnosis charge he said that it was probably low on Freon. He attaches this little can, about the size of a travel shave cream can, and he keeps turning the valve, but it doesn't really take any pressure from the can. Nothing happens. He closes it up and charges me $159.43. There is no change in the performance of the deep freeze. It is still cooling, but not cooling enough. So I have my husband call them and they say they will contact us the next week when the guy is in our neighborhood. He never calls. We call them a week later and the guy finally calls and says he has done all that he can do, I need to get a new freezer. This is a 3-year-old Frigidaire that I just spent one hundred and sixty dollar for them to fix and that fix did nothing. How is this in any way possible? These people are incompetent and unethical. I would avoid them at all cost. They are a waist of your time and money.

One company I will not name but is on Main Street, literally yelled at me that they weren't doing service anymore and hung up. Mom and I are on fixed incomes and we can't afford $200 to $300 an hour or $150 diagnostic fee that would not be applied to the repair price. Appliance Savers wad at the top of the list so I started dialing. The gentleman there said the diagnostic fee was only $75 and would be credited to the repair cost if he did the job. He came within an hour, diagnosed the problem, got the part and fixed the refrigerator in a couple hours. What a blessing! The total price was completely affordable, he was very professional and the refrigerator is working great. So a month later the washer is leaking, I called Appliance Savers, they came and diagnosed the problem as well as the problem with our dryer getting too hot, we scheduled a day to return and now our washer and dryer are working great too! Most people don't understand that service can't be set to a schedule. They can give you a block of time, but it depends on how the job before yours went. Appliance Savers worked with my mom and I on my having to reschedule a couple times due to unavoidable issues, but they were courteous and the repairs were completed. Sometimes we had to wait a few days for the part to arrive but no one could stock all the parts for as many appliances as there are today. So, I do light maintenance for several people and recently had Appliance Savers come to fix a refrigerator and an oven at one of my clients. They came and diagnosed, gave the client a price, ordered the parts and returned to complete the job. The price was very reasonable and my client is very happy to have her oven again after several years of it not working. I will use and recommend Alliance Savers again and again.
