I was able to learn a lot about the history of Beaufort and the Lowcountry through all of the extensive information that was available. You can feel a lot of the history throughout the house and it is overwhelming at times. The house is very well maintained and is beautiful on the inside and is very big and grand. The staff here is very knowledgeable and really knows their history and is able to answer just about any question you may have on the house and Beaufort. Kazoobie Kazoos has been cranking out high-quality plastic kazoos in the U.S. since 1999, with nearly a million shipped each year to destinations around the globe. The museum's exhibits walk you through the kazoo's evolution, from early wooden and metal models to the brightly colored plastic versions we know today. The Writing Center is well worth visiting to learn more about him and see memorabilia from his life. It's staffed by talented people including current writers. They are all passionate and knowledgeable about Conroy's works, offering insight and anecdotes about his life and work. The Center also provides programs for young people, writers, and schools. This farm, I believe, has seceded from the United States, and is located in the old rice plantation regions of the Georgia lowlands. It is run on Yoruba lines and set up as an African-style village, although to me it looked like everyone there was African-American. Biggest negative for me was that the inhabitants viewed me as a source of cash, and one gentleman basically demanded to pray for me and then demanded cash in return. When we left, he asked for a ride to the nearest liquor store! My wife enjoyed this place much more than me and has gone back again, but sometimes one doesn't agree much with your spouse's opinion.
