What an absolute gem! This is a MUST see in Beaufort! For children, adults and families alike! As soon as we walked in we were happily greeted by Jenny, who was our incredible, chipper and enthusiastic tour guide! I loved her energy and passion for this amazing place! Everyone gets to make their very own colorful kazoo! We get to choose different colors and pieces! We learn about different horns and whistles! If you check in on Yelp you get a free extra whistle on your kazoo it's super awesome! We were visiting the area with our kids and my mom suggested we check out the Kazoo Factory, so we stopped in on a whim. It was actually pretty fun and also quite random. We ordered tickets in advance. Once we got there, we watched a short video, then had a live presentation with a backroom tour, and then got a parting gift of a kazoo. I visited the Kazoo factory after seeing such outstanding reviews. As a disclaimer, I went as an adult with my adult cousin, but we both consider ourselves kids at heart. We went for the factory tour and were excited to see how kazoos were made. There were 2 short videos played (one was a collage of photos of a plastic extruder machine, the other was hilarious kazoo story). The guide then plays a bunch of different kazoos and whistles that they sell in the store, basically just trying to upsell you. After that, you see a room where a few pieces of plastic were assembled to make kazoos. I would not consider this to be a factory, as the kazoo is made in Florida and 3 pieces are put together in Beaufort. Also, kazoos sound horrific. read more

Well we are deaf. Of course that is not for us. I asked my sister , she is hearing. She said it was interesting for adults. Kids were not recommended. It iwas more of hand wok assemblies by the workers. Nothing was to do with the big machine to run. The kazoo my sister said was amazing to hear different tones. I cannot ay more myself. read more

The Kazoo Factory tour was amazing. A film explained the history of the kazoo and showed how the plastic parts were manufactured. Nancy demonstrated the extensive kazoo products and also the Acme Whistle products. For such a simple product, the process was carefully followed to produce quality kazoos. I can't believe it has taken me over a year to write this review! But, just like Kazoobie Kazoos, it is worth not getting overlooked. Located in an unassuming warehouse, the fun oozes out the double doors as you pull up and see kids of all ages walk out smiling and humming on their kazoos, blowing on their whistles and making beautiful noises that will surely aggravate the in about ten minutes. As you enter you are directed to the museum that takes you through the -no kidding- fascinating history of the kazoo. Who knew?! Once it is your time, you head over to the "theater" for an interactive show put on by a very enthusiastic and knowledgeable staff member. Then you get to go to the factory in the back. It is simply amazing how they have perfected and simplified making the kazoo over the years. And I did not know how popular they still are today! To end your tour, you get to make your very own customized kazoo. It is still proudly on display on my desk/bookshelf today. There is also a small gift shop where you can purchase other fun items as well as Kazoobie Kazoos merchandise. I'm a road trip junkie and to find a tour of a kazoo factory...well, that's a "must stop!" Kazoobie Kazoos is a real "down home" slice of Americana. They are the only kazoo factory in the USA and crank out over a million a year (who knew?). A staff member took a good half hour or more out of her day to give us a guided tour of the museum (really just a few showcases of kazoo-bilia and kazoo-lectibiles from years gone by), show us a couple short films, and give a great tour of the assembly process in the factory. And we just stopped in. Our guide dropped what she was doing just for us. At the conclusion of the tour, we all made our own kazoos and left with a smile on our face. Came by on a Friday afternoon and got to see the museum, watched some videos, watched the tour guide demo a bunch of kazoos and other noisemakers, toured the factory, and even got to make a kazoo I got to keep. At the end the tour guide had us play "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" to "test" our kazoos. Our tour guide, Melody (yes Melody at a Kazoo factory) was fun, funny and informative too! Any place named Kazoobie Kazoo has to be a Five Star experience. We had some friends visiting from up north who wanted to visit KK. Since we had been planing to go soon, we got to go sooner. We browsed through the self guided museum, then watched a short video presentation. After which we were given a brief tour of the factory and warehouse. When we were properly educated on how Kazoobie Kazoos are created & distributed, we were able to make our own to take home! Also the showroom/gift shop is filled with fun accessories for your new kazoo. I can't see how this wouldn't be fun for anyone who can hum. read more

I loved loved loved loved this place. Wish I could give it 6 stars. It's beaufort and we are on vacation and it's raining and looked for something indoors and came across the kazoo factory and that there are even tours going on. Won't find a kazoo factory up near us in nj. We showed up and there was a tour just beginning. There was just one other group there, parents and their 3 kids. Then our guide played a small video and showed us around the assembly factory. It's was short and sweet, the tour guide was super nice but didn't torture us by going into details that the group would not care about. We then got to make our own kazoos and be silly by playing them loudly as we walked through the gift shop. It was the perfect place to get little trinkets to take home too. And we are SO GLAD we did! This is one of the best roadside attractions we've ever visited! Kami did a FANTASTIC job educating us about the history of the kazoo, demonstrating different types of kazoos and accessories as well as other whistles & recorders & instruments; guiding us through a tour of the factory; and teaching us how to make our own kazoos! This place is worth a detour and/or worth a trip if you're from the area. My wife and I were on a road trip to Charleston but when I saw there was a Kazoo factory/museum we just had to take a detour and stop in. Our tour guide Melody was awesome. She showed us (at the time my wife and I and one other couple) a short video on the history of the Kazoo and the company, and then did demonstrations of all the different kazoo and kazoo type products they make/sell. Knowing really nothing about kazoos other then they were something you hummed into we also learned a good deal about them as actual musical instruments. Then we got to see the behind the scenes of the factory where they assemble, label, and package all the kazoos. At the end we got to put our own custom colored kazoo together to take home. They also have a store where you can buy more kazoo's and kazoo related items, as well as a small museum with all kazoo related items. Totally worth checking out if you are in the area (or making a detour for if you just love kazoos!) read more

We just recently moved here from Texas and finally had our first house guests. We had family visiting with small children and had heard of the Kazoo Factory and Museum, which was less than 5 minutes from our house. This one hour tour was the perfect way to keep our little munchkins entertained for an hour. The video they show at the beginning of the tour was entertaining and the kiddos and adults enjoyed it. The employees of the factory take turns being the guide and we had the young man that was one of their newer employees. You could tell that he thoroughly enjoyed his job and that joy carried over to the kids. Not only did he give you the history of the kazoo and their different types, but he had examples he demonstrated of other whistles, that you could purchase after the tour. We then proceeded into the kazoo "factory", which was actually more of an assembly room where they assembled the pre-made kazoo bodies (made at a location in Florida) with the cap that held the reverberating film. Our tour guide made it very informative and fun for the children and adults alike. At the end of the tour, everyone was given their own kazoo body and cap of their choice and allowed to assemble their own kazoo. After which, everyone got a chance to buy kazoo accessories in the kazoo store. Our kids had the most fun here because they got to customize their own kazoo to make it as loud and obnoxious as possible and this could all be done surprisingly cheap, like less that a buck or two per kiddo. We just made one big mistake that we are paying dearly for!!! That was that we didn't wait to take our visiting family members there until the LAST DAY of their visit!!! We will be back and this is a mistake that we will never make again, lol. Suggestion for those locals continuously bringing customers on this tour would be for the Kazoo Factory to develop a frequent flyer program like some of the other tourist based businesses in the area and offer there persons having been there three times or more with visiting guests either a discount or free admission. The horse carriage companies do this and for those of us that have been on the tour so many times that we know what will be said before it is said, it makes it more enjoyable for us too. Overall this was a great hour for the kiddos both young and old. I highly recommend it. We loved it. read more

Very fun stop during our family reunion in Beaufort, SC. My husband,3 sons 12, 8, and 7 along with my 14 year old niece loved the visit.
